THE Richard Kachingwe led MMD will announce the final list of candidates to contest the Livingstone and Mpongwe parliamentary by-elections on Tuesday next week.

Ousted MMD National Secretary Richard Kachingwe and expelled party chairperson for women affairs Catherine Namugala on Monday formed a parallel structure with a new party headquarters and declared that a new leadership would soon be ushered in.

MMD splinter spokesperson Bernard Mpundu said in an interview yesterday that the party leadership had been receiving overwhelming response from several candidates intending to stand on the MMD ticket.

Mr Mpundu said, so far, the party had received three names for Livingstone and Mpongwe respective, although, several other people were still forwarding their applications.

But MMD vice president for politics Michael Kaingu on Wednesday said at a press briefing that the party had filed in Miniva Mtesa as its Mpongwe candidate and that the party’s candidate for the Livingstone by-election would be announced soon

The Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) has set February 28, 2013 as date for the two by-elections in Livingstone and Mpongwe Constituencies.

  1. ili lyena likachingwe lishilu lyakuntambo. atase!!
were will this lunancy take him to? or is he inviting another beating?
we need something better from this major than this trash.

    • BAKACHINGWE YOU ARE ON THE RIGHT TRACK…..Please protect the Party of Chiluba, Kawimbe, akashambatwa, Benny Mwiinga, Newstead Zimba, Chitalu Sampa, Levy Mwanawasa, Eric Silwamba and others who sacrificed their lives to bring democracy to Zambia. Do not let chancers take over this party!

  2. Mature show that you are matured in your comments.Nevers Mumba is the wrong chap for MMD.Mr Kaingu talks too much,he thinks after Nevers he will be the leader of MMD.Nonsense!!

    • if you have read my comments on this saga, you would be the last person to attack me.
i have always pleaded with these f**##s to sit down and iron out their differences amicably. its like they are cotent in subjecting us to this madness. i don’t what to take sides on this one, all am saying is two wrongs wont make a right.
what kachingwe is doing is a non starter though nevers is not the right person to rule mmd.

  3. Kachingwe should form his party and lets see how many wil follow them! Intra democracy has been proved in MMD. Ask pf 2 prove!

    • thats the “something better” am talking about instead of the in-fighting he is perpetuating within mmd.
ma bro, musangu muzaza @ 2, how do you expect the nevers camp to react to this nonsense?
of course they won’t take this sitting down with folded arms. expect some response from them and its that type of response that am worried about.

  4. VIVA NAMUGALA!!! VIVA KACHINGWE!!! VIVA MUTATI !!! …..PLEASE KEEP THE MMD FLAG FLYING. PASTOR MUMBWE CAN GO BACK TO RP!! OR NCC.

    • and how old am i?
just calling a spade a spade, mwana.
the approach he has taken is nothing but a recipe for violence. and you are encouraging that. ati christian nation….

  5. Respect ni mwamene @ TRUE. But what about their respect for the people who look up to them, they are leaders, would you honestly call this leadership? Personally I find it much easier to liken it to school yard tomfoolery. I see little boys fighting after the loss of a football match, only difference is they are on the same side and will have to play together again in the morning. They have no regard for those they represent for all that matters is shielding their little egos at the expense of the team and ultimately their support -in this case- the country. I say Grow Up!! And focus on the prize, a prosperous Zambia

  6. We re very disappointed with what’s going on in our opposition. Our goal as ZID, is to see that our beloved country has a formidable and strong opposition that can provide checks and balances to the sitting government. We urge the MMD and Dr Mumba to resolve their problems sooner. We want to see an opposition that can be speaking and fighting for the regular citizen than seeing an opposition that is fighting amongst each other.

  7. I think the Kachingwe group is very desparate to please their masters! Why can’t they wait for the courts to resolve their expulsion case?
The so called ‘Parallel MMD’,has it been registered with the Registra of Societies? How many MMD MPs are under the Kachingwe group? Which Party name are they going to use at Nominations.
The media should not be used to create confusion.Their is no Parallel MMD! Remember the story of the FAZ faction? It was the media which created the confusion! It should be the ‘Kachingwe group’ period.

  8. Well Mr Kachingwe, so who appointed Bernard Mpundu to the position of spokesperson of MMD, or Namugala to be the organiser or whatever? Ba Kachingwe, the same way that you accuse Dr Mumba of being in office illegally is the same way that you have illegal office holders in the so called MMD parallel. At least Dr Mumba was elected by MMD officials countrywide, in a process in which you freely participated, regardless of whether you voted for him or not. The best and only time you were going to be legitimate Mr Kachingwe is if you had raised those points of order before the MMD Convention took place, a Convention which you as national Secretary organised and we all saw it. Upuba panja, uko atase!

  9. tom, nevers can not go near these guys any more. the man is said to have gone to sata seeking employment. and we re informed that soon nevers will be appointed as minister for religious affairs. The guy is good when it comes to lobbing for his job.

  10. Pst Mumba was UNIP in church seeing doom if UNIP lost elections in 1991, therefore, let those who were part of the making of MMD stand up and cleanse the party from extinction. MMD lost momentum during the FTJ 3rd Term bid and worse during RB’s reign. Decency is that the party which championed democracy must not be hijacked by morally corrupt, tithe thieving leaders who have lied all their lives to bulldoze people in the name of God. Its time Zambians saw that Namugala and Kachingwe as wrong as it may seem are the only voice of sanity to redeem the party. Therefore no amount of intimidation will deter the redemption. While there could be other forces behind them, there is cause to oust the the leadership of the one pastor. Can you imagine the clergy have not sided with him.

  11. is this what you cal democracy naimwe, why can’t he form a party.I believ he ‘s got resources to so not this confusion he is takin ku mmd.he is actualy kilin democracy,I foresee both failing to file in for the by elections becos of his behavior

  12. Utuu “TOLOTO” why should people have an opposition within an opposition? Are they forcused? An opposition should be that which can open the eyes of the rulling party to let them work in fear of being overthrown basing on the same points.
