Government has said that it is highly irresponsible for Dante Saunders to call for the impeachment of President Michael Sata over the appointment of the Chief Justice, as reported in today’s Daily Nation newspaper.

Chief Government Spokesperson Kennedy Sakeni in a statement released to the media said that the call is shallow, unresearched and unfounded as there is no such an appointment that the President has made in the office of the Chief Justice.

Mr Sakeni said that constitutional appointments by the President, including that of the Chief Justice, are subject to rigorous scrutiny by relevant oversight institutions, including parliament.

Mr Sakeni stated that the call for impeachment, therefore, does not arise as there are adequate safeguards in the appointment of constitutional office holders.

Mr Sakeni reminded Mr. Saunders that Parliament comprises men and women of high integrity as representatives of the people who perform their duties diligently as has been demonstrated in the past.

Mr Sakeni said that it was, therefore, mischievous for Mr. Saunders to insinuate that Parliament has been endorsing illegalities in the appointment of constitutional office holders by the Executive.

He has advised Mr. Saunders to desist from dwelling on speculations and displaying his ignorance on issues he least understands.

Mr Sakeni added that Government takes great exception to Mr. Saunders’ allegation that Government wants to use the Judiciary, the Police, Drug Enforcement Commission, Anti-Corruption Commission and other wings of Government to fix its perceived political opponents.

Mr said that this was a fallacy which government wishes to dismisses with the contempt it deserves.

He further said that the PF Government had demonstrated its unwavering commitment to the rule of law and separation of powers among the three arms of Government.

Mr Sakeni stated that the Government does not influence the operations of the Judiciary because they believe in a professional and independent Judiciary as seen in the fact that all suspects in the on-going corruption and Abuse of Authority cases are enjoying their full rights as provided for in the country’s legal and justice system.

    • WHY IS IT THAT PIPO WHO LIKE TORCHING CHARMS ALWAYS LOOK UBUPUBA????LOOK AT THIS CIPUBA SEKENI.LOOK AT HIS MASTER THE SATANIST…….

    • Sakeni’s response sounds correct, unfortunately that’s not what Kabimba told him to say. Sata & Kabimba both have been talking about Chief Justice Chibesa-something.
Sakeni may end up fired for his wise advise to your President Sata.

  1. He will stil get away.Mr Sakeni, parliament is not a credible institution.Sanders is right coz Sata has breached da constitution many tyms, wat do u make of this people?impeach him….on pure grounds..moreover he has not performed enough.

  2. Sakeni and his running mouth again. Dante Saunders qualified his statement with the phrase “in the event that…..” So Mr Sakeni Sir, you’re advised to get some immodium ! It is very interesting that you’ve only reacted to the views of a none Muchingan. Elias Chipimo has commented on the same issue but you’ve chosen not to criticise him for commenting on unsubstantiated rumours about the appointment of the said Chibesakunda! Please advise us on whether its only none Bembas who are not allowed to express their opinions on national issues? Animal Farm, eh?

    • Sorry I guess bwana Sakeni has now over dosed on immodium and can’t speak…. We are all observing. Were this to come and pass, I wonder if John Sangwa and co will pursue this issue with the same determination they hounded CJ Ernest Sakala based on his age. This case is bound to put alot of people under the microscope. Consistency in what we do…

  3. How old was CJ Sakala and how long did he serve…this is rhetoric…same old things in Zed politics…nothing has changed in the judiciary or is it the Presidency?

  4. that does the constitution say on age? Saunders and Chipimo always talk sense, without fear and favour lol. lets vote Chipimo next.

  5. If i had my way i wud advise the president to drop this man who looks as if he is salivating at non existant relish.
He likes commenting on things that usually exposes his ignorance

  6. Sakani reminds of of Mulongoti when he use to attack the opposition especially Sata. These two guys have one thing in common and that is ignorance. Looking at his CV and academic backgound spells it all.

  7. All sakeni is saying here is that no one has been appointed yet.so those of u shooting provide data on the breach committed.

    • u are in the right place (europe) ‘my sister’ because prostitution in europe is defended by the law, keep the business going……

  8. So how many constitutional breaches lead to impeachment? The president has advisers and should never boob on constitutional matters.

  9. Sakeni please, respect people who know more about Zambian politics than yourself. Dante Saunders may not have served in any government but knows alot about government than you do Sakeni.

Give us some facts about rebatle then we believe you.

  10. Ati appointments are “subject to relevant oversight institutions” ???? Which institutions to do oversight when the parliament is full of PF yes men and the opposition is being actively decimated by Sata.

  11. Sekeni and your CNP and your families i fear for you thugs, you’ve taken the people of Zambia for granted.Mukachula Sana after we kick you out power in 2016 or earlier as things seem at the moment.

  12. The statement below is an insult to any intelligent Zambian;

“Mr Sakeni reminded Mr. Saunders that Parliament comprises men and women of high integrity as representatives of the people who perform their duties diligently as has been demonstrated in the past.”
These statements attributed to Sakeni and George Chella must be aimed at the PF electorate and cadres. They are the only ones so dull and gullible to believe this nonsense,

  13. The only MPs in parliament that have integrity left in them are from UPND. MMD were in the same nonsense PF is in not long ago. Remember Shikapwasha and Siliya? I m in West Texas in a city called Midland. Like one writter above, I and my family can’t return to Zambia to face such primitive politics over and over again. ( No offense to my fellow Zambians on this migration) In terms of ‘democracy’ South Africa is relatively new on the scene than Zambia. But they are doing far much better than Zambia. What’s wrong with our African leaders kanshi? As long as Africa is going to look through ethnic lenses to put leaders in Government, the continent is headed no where. I visited our embassies in New York and Washington during thanks giving, there full of diplomats from one region of Zambia!…

    • YOU ARE A SECOND CLASS CITIZEN. WORSE THAN A REFUGEE. A COWARD WHO HAS RUN AWAY FROM HIS HOME BECAUSE OF MINOR PROBLEMS. A LAZY MAN WHO WANTS TO EAT FROM SILVER PLATA FOR FREE. A LAUGHING STOCK. IN BEMBA YOU ARE CALLED “IMBUTUSHI”. YOU RUN AWAY FROM YOUR HOME INTO THE NEIGHBOURS SERVANTS QUARTERS AND YOU START INSULTING YOUR PARENTS BECAUSE OF A FEW CRUMBS OF BREAD THAT THE NEIGHBOUR GIVES YOU. WHEN OTHERS ARE PROUD OF THEIR HOMES. WHAT A SHAME. AS FOR ME I WILL BE ZAMBIAN. BORN IN ZAMBIA, BRED IN ZAMBIA AND WILL TRY HARD AND MY BEST TO SACRIFICE FOR MY COUNTRY. HOWEVER INSIGNIFICANT MY CONTRIBUTION. THERE IS NO PLACE LIKE HOME. HOME SWEET HOME.

    • So why talk about Zambia if you are in America just talk about the Dictators of America, the country that invades others at will so what are you talking about sata will dictate for the benefit of zambians

    • Lwindi Gonde, forget about Ka chisenga. I know this chap IS ALWAYS RANTING LIKE A KOLWESTAN. He is a simple fisherman Kwa kaputa. HE HAS NO QUALIFICATION TO SELL OUTSIDE THE COUNTRY. He blogs using chiengi computers yaba katele

  14. Thank you for your comments CHISENGA, I respect your opinion but I don’t agree with you. I m sure u know the term “brain drain”? This is usually when there is lack of acknowledgment by a system, on professionals, simply on account of color, ethnicity, language, religion, gender, sex, relonal background etc etc. This failure by successive governments usually lead to this group of, who don’t want to have their professions recognized only in the grave. They would rather use them while alive here on earth. I m not a coward or a refugee. How can I be when I send huge income to my extended family back in my ancestral village. I ve adopted a rural clinic and 2 primary schools and a village orphanage which I passionately support. Its people like u and Kabimba that drive serious minded pros…

  15. It’s up to Justice Chibesakunda, she is the decider and if she is the woman of higher integrity and morale she should turn down the appointment, it will never do her good. She should respect the constitution not to be persueded to do wrong.

  16. Lwiindi Gonde, yes i agree with you. I am in Zambia and i dont intend to migrate but i know that with this govt which is just bent on tribal politics we are headed no where. Look at the FRA there was a good guy Matongo who had a strategic Plan for the organisation but because of this tribalist govt and their president they fired him faster than he was hired and i do not even want to ask who has taken over from him because i know for sure it must be a kolwestan. What explanation surly can one give that all those who were not kolwestans in foreign missions were called back and all kolwestans returned? The list was even published by watchdog .Anyway at first i used to think that Tongas were tribalists as insunuated but from now i will live to tell my children that also bembas can be worser

  17. NAREP president seems to have nothing to do in his office why should he be pre emptying the government . he has became a witch hunt for what . crazy boy.

  18. ba minister this fake coloured should be rebased ninjala wamuyonkola he is a useless political analyst .viva mr president long live,fi upnd wants to use all sorts of stupid things so that they come into power, but thank God they will never rule this country with there Hungry Hyena (HH).

  19. True@29. “Whether u return or not, it will not change anything”. Hell yes, it will! What do you say of Proff Clive Chirwa? Every politician including Geoffrey Chuumbwe are literally going “gaaga, gaaga” over him. There are falling all over themselves to get a photo with him. I went to secondary school at Canisius in Southern Province and taught by Jesuit fathers after which I did my first degree in engineering at UNZA, then proceeded for my masters abroad. I returned to Zambia to pay back to my country but much to my chagrin, I was made an assistant six times to people that were not near my qualifications and who happened to be from the same region as my boss. I tendered my resignation after a US government engineering firm responded positively to my application, and my boss accepted…

  20. A plane carrying politicians crashed into a farm. When the police arrived, they found out that the Akpos the farmer had already buried them.

    The following conversation ensued :

POLICE : Are you sure they were dead ?.

Akpos : Yes, I’m very sure, though I heard some screaming “Help me! I’m still alive o!”, but you know these politicians, they lie alot

  21. By responding the Minister just gives Dante some free publicity. I never even knew him myself. So take the advise of one blogger here who says not everything needs to be responded to. Some chilolos!

  22. Sakeni or Chela for President! There are the only ones who speak. Our Presido is incommunicado masiku onse even there are serious issues to talk about.
