First Lady Dr Christine Kaseba Sata is expected to be among hundreds of mourners who will witness the mass burial of the post bus victims who perish in one of the most fatal road traffic accident in the history of this country.

Preparations for the mass burial scheduled for Monday has reached an advanced stage.

According to a brief by the Post Master General Macpherson Chanda during a funeral preparatory meeting chaired by Provincial Minister Mwenya Musenge yesterday morning, all the bodies of the accident which have been identified by relatives have been transported to their respective destinations.

Only four bodies which have not yet been identified are still lying in Kabwe General Hospital mortuary.

Three of the unidentified bodies are suspected to be for those who were on board of the truck while the fourth one is suspected to be for a post bus passenger.

Mr Chanda revealed that 45 bodies have been transported to Ndola in readiness for burial while three other bodies have been transported to Lusaka.

He further said three other bodies have been taken to Kitwe while one body has been taken to Nakonde.

Mr Chanda also disclosed that by last night, Zampost management had managed to pass through all the 44 homes to offers its condolences and render some logistic support towards funeral expenses.

Mr Chanda said besides the provision of a casket and K1m funeral support, Zampost will also allocate each family a 26 setter bus to carry relatives on the burial day.

And Copperbelt Minister Mwenya Musenge was happy to note that Zampost who are the owners of the bus were on top of things.

Mr Mwenya told the meeting that government was keen to see to it that the burden of the bereaved families is lightened.

He said to this effect the provincial administration was also offering some logistical support to the bereaved families to lighten the burden.

The Provincial Minister further disclosed that government has identified Monday as the burial date for the Ndola based accident victims at which first Lady Dr Kaseba Sata is expected.

Mr Mwenya however said government will not stop any family who may wish not to be part of the mass burial which will take place at Mitengo cemetery.

The burial will be preceded by an inter-denomination service to be held at the Levy Mwanawasa stadium.

A special plot has been identified where the remains of the accident victims will be put to rest in individual graves and, government had initially identified Tuesday next week as a possible day for burial.

Meanwhile, one family has so far indicated that they will burial their relative today while two other families have also indicated that they wish bury their relatives tomorrow.

Over 50 people perished in a road traffic accident involving a post bus and a truck which happened at John Chinena in Chibombo district in Central province on Thursday this week.

President Michael Sata has since declared a three-day period of national mourning starting Monday to Wednesday next week in honour of the accident victims.

    • Iwe ulichipuba sana!Y are u asking to do what? What do people do when they to funerals? You have an evil mind. Please give respect to the people moarning

    • Is that what you are learning in Australia? what a dummy !!! efyo mupandila, you always think about witch craft on everything shame on you !!!

    • Exactly to do what FTJ attended the national team disaster and where is Sata we expected him to vissit the accident scene he may just find another body any way I know he is busy pondering what to do on southern province
It looks like southern province is a rich area this province can survive without depending on any other region they have
      1. Sugar plantation
2.power generation in siavonga and itezhi tezhi
      3.abidon and maamba mine
      4.victoria falls and tourism
      5. It’s the Hub of food basket

Wow I hope Sata can succeed to cut off this region or else it will grow stronger

    • Very brainless thickhead. Why don’t u go and lIve with your Satan since you misidentify every earthly act as his?

    • I thought a president is the one who shud attend such unfortunate occasions accompanied by his wife. Kansi state house is too sweet ka olo kapena prostate cancer yamuchisa mudala.

    • #1 Its sad to have people like you. And you even decide to use Bamuka Yama’s name, what do you have with her in common?
Anyway, I wanted to be first to ask a question, and my question is to Sata and George Chella:
SINCE George CHELLA’S FATHER IS A BUS DRIVER FOR CR, IF HE GOT INVOLVED IN SUCH AN ACCIDENT AS POST-BUS, WOULD SATA ATTEND THE FUNERAL? (am not wishing anybody worse, but I want to help some people to think much deeper than they do)

    • is it what you do??? how is it that you are conversant with what you are talking abt except that it is what you do – yaba nabwaice – atase

    • IS SATA BACK FROM TREATMENT?IS HE THE ONE WHO CAME BACK FROM INDIA VIA UK?WHY WAS HE HIDDEN FROM THE PRESS WHEN HE CAME BACK?WAS THE PICTURE TAKEN DURING THE APPOINTING OF HIS RELATIVES AS AMBOSSODORS REAL?WAS HE REALLY THE ONE???WITH NEW TECHNOLOGY EVERYTING IS POSSIBLE.IF YOU ARE IN THE COUNTRY,SATA SHOW YOUR SELF TO THE NATION…….

    • This was no accident but a criminal conspiracy by the opposition and its cocoon of lawyers including Robert Amsterdam to derail govt programmes, cause despondency and plunge the country into mayhem.
The white farmer is of dutch origin, was under strict instructions and money had been put aside to compensate his family in case he perished in the mission and criminal Robert Amsterdam together with his lout of local layers will offer free legal defence services since their mission has successfully been carried out.
They know he will not face murder charges in court but lesser charges of manslaughter since the whole nation would be deceived into believing that these were unpremeditated killings.
Have you wondered why the opposition leaders have said no word and withdrawn from the public?

  1. I hope i will keep my mouth shut otherwise those jerabos will desend on me.And not suer who will look after my hubby in my presence ,those machines is on it’s only me the Indians trained to use in Zambia. It’s becoming tough mwandini!

  2. Biggest accident disatster in 20 years and the third in the history of the country and the president still decides not to show up?

He couldn’t get into the chopper to visit the scene and now this?

What urgent matter is he attending to on Monday that can’t wait for just a day?

It is either the president is indeed sick or something wrong with this Government. The man has not said anything on this disaster except Fred Mmembe through Sata ‘s voice mail George Chellah.

    No further comment

    • It is shocking because he had a lot to say about the Kawamba boys accident, first Lady Maureen attended and he called President Mwanawasa names for not being there for his people.
Then there was the Bilgrim disaster that claimed over 53 lives if my memory saves me right. He bitterly attack president Mwanawasa who had terrible BP.
During the same period, ZAF officers perished Mongu when the plan crashed, it was a disaster but HE Sata had to gain political mileage on it as well.

    • Sata will issue a statement via his trusted George Chellah, ‘First lady is attending on behalf of the people of Zambia and indeed on my own behalf’.
By the way is this the revised version of the ‘first lady’s official name, Christine Kaseba-Sata?

  3. Why is Zondwe himself not attending? So it is true he is sick and cannot stand for a long time. Awe sure, the next national moaning is his!

  4. Surely Sata should’ve attended this funeral which is one of the worst accidents. He’s sending a signal that he’s got other important things to do. Even though people hate Rupiya at least he attended the funeral of those 36 youths in Ndola. This is getting out of hand, what exactly is up with the presido???

    • This man SATA demonised levy over BILGRIMM,it was saaaad, like he is the one who detonated explosives. Can ndola people please chase this woman and demand for the right person or better of,the all stay away

    • When certain parts of Lusaka was under water your, the then beloved president Banda was in China, He didn’t even have the guts to order his vice president to visit the disaster area. So much for being biased.

  5. I do not think moral citizens expect an incontinent person living with a Catheter would fly to Ndola and spend hours at a funeral. Its just unfortunate that due to lack of wisdom, PF think its a shame to say the President has been incapacitated and needs spend his last days on earth in absolute private life while the nation moves on and cares for him in retirement.

  6. Being incontinent living on a Catheter and a parse setter is not a shame just let Zambians officially get it so they can be interceding for the old man.

    • So you know as well my freind. Its sad isn’t it? he will be looking for Christine very quickly to head back. She is doing a wonderful job of keeping him going. Hope she doesn’t over look her own frailty. Cheers

  7. This story is A crashing bore and a waste of time. Fortunately, I did not read it all. I’m Not impressed at all with the first lady. She would be more interesting if she were humble spent less public money. The first lady thing is a white creation and it’s a patronising crumb to women but they are to me still like a political Barbie. Women should not aspire to this but can go further.
    Saying that mtsrip.

  8. This is when you see the importance of Identify Cards. We need to review and change our Reg, so that people can at all times carry their identifications. Because in times like this, we can sly track relatives. Really sad and condolences to the families.

  9. we have to live in readiness of the day we gonna die.It is never known. It might be just after committing that sin. So let’s try as much as possible to stand right in line with God’s will for our lives

  10. I agree Ndola people chase Kaseba the moment she comes with crocodile tears. True its humabn to get sick, let PF come out and tell us that the president is unwell and we’ll understand and pray for him. The signal now that all is not well is his absence and PF officials fighting for power.

    • shame on you – you may not like sata’s policies, but leave his personal life out of this – clearly the only fault you seem to find is personal – jealousy, ulunkumbwa, or whatever you might call it – ubufontini

  11. This ha to be one of the most important events in the country’s history. Someone, tell me how the President is unable to a attend this mass funeral and think it’s ok?

  12. This kasenyo or what ever she is called, can she once for all tell the nation where this called president is and what his problem is since they share the same bed. OTHERWISE HER GOING TO NDOLA IS A MOCKERY TO THE RESIDENTS OF THE CITY. where is CNP?

    • you are so right, and because of them i almost logged off, but they are not the reason i logged on, so i carried on, thinks i feel better i went on, nice day.
May all the beareved famillies have strength to carry on.

    • its gratefying to note that iam not the only one complainig.
i think SIM registration will be fine.
just speed up the all exercise so that we start debating in a civilised manner.

    • Kekekeke!chikallah waumfwa amafi. Balwele ba shikulu.and you see how numb these politicians can be,he is not attending this burial but you will see him in mpongwe campaigning even when he is dying

  13. I learnt of this great tragedy when I was in South Africa for a brief period. This is the time when Zambians must burry their differences in times of national grief. The deadly fatal accident affeccted the entire nation because the Post Buses carry a diversity of Zambian peoples.

Apparently, we are surprised that a Republican President is unable to attend the mass funeral programme arranged in Ndola. Protocol expects the President to be represented by a Deputy President, NOT a housewife. The Post and Mr. Sakeni must clarify themselves for having told the nation that the President was not ILL but resting at secret location to contemplate on national matters. Dr. Kaseba could have just attended the funeral to console her fellow women folk, but NEVER to represent the President.

    • I agree with you they are just foorcing me ,i would spend time with my hubby in his last days ,things are really tough at plot 1.Guy Scott should go but he’s dead scared to go according to Fred and Voice Mail Chellah.

  14. My only worry is why bloggers are hurling unprintables on each other especially in this solemn period. And they do this in a dignified language Bemba. I am a Tonga who has once lived among real Bembas in Kasama, Mungwi area, you will hardly hear them use this vulgarity. They are generous, down to earth, considerate, respectful of diversity and welcoming. Now for Christine Kaseba, I see her as a dignified lady who respects and loves her husband. I notice the pressure and anxiety on her face as a result of what she’s going through. Christine is immensely beautiful, tall, elegant and the very embodiment of a strong Bantu woman. She’s our mother and my advice to her is keep away from politics as husband is not a very popular man right now. I know that’s difficult to separate yourself from…

  15. @ 21 mwansa kabinga… name for a demon, hahaha no wonder such dung from your mouth. Ati from south africa yeyeye lwanya!
One conman pastor yesterday on muvi tv news said he had foreseen that accident. Now if stella libongani (ig) doesnt arrest this man for alarming the nation i would be very surprised coz this alarm is worse than what HH said.
Why ist that in our nation today all the preaching by these extortionist pastors is about death and other bad things happening? We know this is only to enrich themselves by instilling fear in the populance but please preach a message of joy also, dont make it like our God is out there to make us all miserable yet its the opposite. This love for money is making pastors go to any lengths

    • I WISH PASTOR CAN PREACH WITHOUT FEAR THAT SINCETHIS MAN CAME IN POWER,THERE HAS BEEN OF STRANGE DEATHS AROUND THE NATION

    • This is an opportunity for the President to make political mileage. My guess is that he will surprise everyone by turning up. Otherwise he is in trouble.

George Chellah, this rumour mill has to be stopped, sonny.

Clearly, you are not having fun. No?

  16. Why won’t the President attend? During this period of national mourning, this event is above all others. It’s more than a swearing in ceremony or an inuaguration! When it is BYE-ELECTIONS, the President goes to mobilise the people. Why for sure can’t he attend this national disaster which has hit our nation? Being the President, it’s time for him to go there to offer solidarity and comfort to the bereaved families and the nation at large. If he is not healthy, I can understand, otherwise I’m greatly disappointed.

  17. Very disappointed that the so called father of the nation is not attending the burial. But what is the problem with him kanshi . I guess chopper can be very easy to use to attend since it will land at the exact spot of burial place.

    • @ sekeleti… only if admiration is a sickness. important to note also is that kaili katundu ya bamudala is none functional.. servicing on behalf would come handy

  18. Who is behind this reasoning; Cabinet or was it made in the bedroom at Plot 1? Mrs Sata can you think like a doctor who is learned and not a political prostitute like Masebo. We demand to be represented at the funeral by our elected representatives and not a couples’ rep. This is a National issue not for you to come and show other women how fat you have become with the illegal K1.5bn given to you.
If Sata is sick which is now public knowledge, the Vice President and his Minister of Transport should represent the rest of Zambia at this funeral and please just go and take care of the man just as you do when he goes for his external consultations.

  19. The first lady will only beef up entourage the vice president and the rest must be inattendance, heared even the presido may show up , its only the right thing to do.Govt critics show remorse for once over the funeral, its Zambian…..

  20. I am wondering whether Kaseba is part of cabinet for her to represent government at the funeral. Zambia, where are we going mwebantu? This Kaseba even uses the Challenger whenever she goes on foreign trips. Is she the president? We must correct these illegalities before we are buried in them. Why is Sata not attending the funeral? He used to talk too much when he was in opposition and making his friends look very irresponsible. Now it is his turn and he is failing to honour the exact things he spoke about. This is hypocrisy of the worst kind. If he is not well, let them tell us so that we can pray for him. For how long are they going to conceal his illnes?

  21. Make no mistake about it, the views expressed on this blog about the president’s dodgy decisions are the views of the entire nation. Christine Kaseba- Sata is not and never will be the representative of the people. Where is the president? He recently returned from India where we were officially told he was on a retreat and now he is shying away from talking or appearing to the people. Surely the people deserve better than this disaster.

  22. Is the president incapacitated? Is he sick? Is he in a position to lead the country? The people need to know. What does the law say?

    • What makes you think that Christine Kaseba committed any crime? Its the president who is immune to courts, including divorce.
Sata can divorce Kaseba, which he can’t do of course
Kaseba can not divorce Sata, despite its her daily prayer.

  23. Eediot Mumba of Nevers how can he accuse the President when in actual fact its his so called MMD that has encoraged policemen to act like Mobutus bakaboke.

  24. heartfelt condolences to the families for their loss.if you are close to any of these families and you can attend the burial please do so cause it will carry more weight for you to offer a shoulder for them to cry on than them being GENERALLY conforted by one who may simply give lip service. No one prepares for a funeral ,’malilo sa zoloweka’. this blogg seem to have pipo with inside info that Sata is not well, instead lets wish him recovery and gud healthy, not beating him while he is down. thats not real zedian.Pls pipo lets put our political differences aside and mourn our brothers & sisters peacefully…zambia is a land of peace, joy & unity…PF mistakes condeming others not attending burials should not be a yardstick. future generations will read about such mailo & laugh at us.

    • I don’t think any reasonable Zambian would wish ill of Sata.We just aren’t impressed with the secrecy.Sata was voted for because people believed he was a man of action.Lately we have been seeing his ministers on the loose issueing alarming statements and behaving like kids do when the parents aren’t around. Now we are wondering if Sata is really sick and his boys are taking advantage and ruining our country. We need good roads ASAP and if there is no leader to direct this vision we shall continue seeing carnage on our roads. So far PF looks uncaring with the Veep busy campaigning in Livingstone inspite of the national disaster. Not even Chiluba exhibited such behaviour.

    • @ Zonda, Why do you ask? Do you feel pain after thinking? Imagine you are a family meeting and you simply ask a question like that “why a mass burial”, no elder man can answer you. First to answer would be your nephew.. “ati but Yama mulichipuba sana, thats why auntie beats you!”

  25. I we Cibwalya wabufi what is the connection between your useless Southern province and Road accident . If you have nothing to say it better keep your ass hole clossed
    .

  26. It is obvious President Sata has too many medical problems to remainPresident. There is no excuse for him not attending this national burial. Let him come clean on his health status.

  27. This is not a question of hating the man who is President but a rational demand that our Commander in Chief must be ready and able to lead at all times. This is the reason why Fred M’membe and his clique have hijacked the Presidency. The man at Plot 1 is not well enough to take charge.

  28. Cabinet must vote for a medical board to examine whether President Sata is fit enough to carry out his duties. We cannot have a President who is seen only after every twentyone days.

  29. A little bird told me that MCS, is actually still in India. Distant Travelling after an intricate surgical procedure is deemed to be bad for health. Even the swear-in is said to have been as ‘manufactured’ as man’s moon landing back in late 1960’s.

  30. Useless bloggers, you should grow…..we are mourning our beloved friends, sisters, brothers………..line goes and you are busy bringing your useless stuff on this site?Lord have mercy on this bloggers who are under the influence of the devil, deliver all in Jesus name!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    • @44,
By condemning others to be under the influence of the devil it simply means you are just a pretender with ‘the holier than thou mentality. Jesus said to those who condemned the woman caught in adultery, ‘ be the first to cast a stone at the woman’.
      Please stop the hypocrisy.

  31. you people how do you wish the president to be sick, have you seen the Italian, how old he is?, peoples minds are just tuned in , to gossip, everyone is going to grow old at one point or another. Leave our sata alone. Exposure is important, in developed countries
people are busy with work and nothng else.

  32. May their souls rest in peace.
Govt to review protocol issues on attendance / representation / positions of power at “national events” especially tragic events like we have at hand on who represents the people of Zambia when the President is not able, for whatever reasons.
Zambia is ours and naturally our views must be heard by the authorities that look into such matters. That way the bloggers will focus on the dead of this very tragic event and the aftermath.
Botswana has a protocol that every Motswana knows, despite being in Gaborone or in Kasane. When protocol is broken there are obvious questions asked without any intimidation at the kgotlas.

  33. I personally don’t give s.hit about who attends what funeral! Enough! of people dying on these unsafe roads.

Sata, stop all nonsense of building stadiums and bidding for Africa cup. Build dual carriage ways on all roads leading to the capital. Who has to die before this happens, Kaseba as she is driving to attend the funerals?

  34. At a time like this, where Zambia is mouning lost lives in a nation a president needs to re assure the nation and take leadership role. Mr Sata the republican president is expected to lead mourners to the resting place of the departed Zambians. His absence in such sorrowful times will be a great insult to Zambians and his wife is not a substitute as head of state. We await for his attendace at these funerals at least one of them and Ndola funerals will be expecting Mr Sata as his failure will be taken as disrespectiful to Zambians who voted him as Zambian leader.

  35. mrs obama, yesterday represented her husband at a high profile funeral in chigago and no such senseless blogging came of the americans. Feel pity for petty bloggers insulting the president over such.
Senior chinya, nice to welcome you back as you blog dung after dung

  36. Truth be told, gone are the days when being in Government was a service to the People as opposed to a career as we demonstrated by our Sata and his Government. We lost our own Zambian people on Zambian soil yet all he does is send a letter to convey his condolences and know before we put those departed soul to rest the man is not even interested to represent the nation in person at the burial of our departed brothers and sisters. If i can remember well, we vote “michael chilufya data” to lead our nation in good times and bad, the man flew to South Africa 2hr flight (tax payers money) for a very unnecessary visit to those Chipolopolo boys yet with that Zambia Air Force helicopter he seems to ejoy riding during by-election it would have taken him chibombo in 30 min… SHAM Ba SATA! 2016…

  37. The President, HEMCS will attend the burial in Ndola tomorrow while the First Lady Dr. Christine Kaseba Sata is already in Ndola, according to ZNBC news of 19:00 hrs.

    Next topic, please???

  38. Woe to he who does not understand and hence fufil the phrophecy… God loves even those who fail to attend funeral gathering for he (Chanda) will only rule for 4 years and very few months and then another good leader (Hamaimbo) shall come.

  39. I grieve for the departed. May their souls rest in eternal peace till we meet in the blissful presence of our creator. Nomba imwe bonse mwe fiyongoli fya ku Zambian watchdog mwebalelemba ifya mu misula yenu ukulasalula bakateka pali ino site mukanya. Baswaini ifi mwaikalilila ukulolela Sata ukufwa pakuti mukateke bushe cikacitika? Mwanya uwenu takatale ateka cino calo. Twakula miteka fye lyonse.

  40. So many bitter, twisted people celebrating this accident simply because they have no ammunition against PF. Just remember what you wrote here, in a few years when you are dying yourselves – it’s not about PF

  41. it is hard even to say condolence to the families, what a sad state. Thank you mum as First Lady to be in attendance, for our stade, you may seem like you have an answer to why a child lost a father, or a mother lost a son, yet with respect you will be there for all who care not just to talk. Stay strong and with love

  42. I now believe Sata is a big disgrace to our nation, a president who cant even address the nation especially in times of mourning like this. shame chi Sata

  43. LT you are becoming useless like THE PAST newswaste. What is SATA hiding from? maybe the desease he has does not allow him come in contact with people. Is he worried that we shall remind him about what he used to say to Mazoka, Mwanawasa, and Kunda? It is just him time No one will call him Mr. Scrotum. If he is okey let hom walk to the funeral after all he went to watch disgraced Chipoliopolio in SA.

  44. TRIBALISTS, am not in the habit of arguing with small minded retarded kids who cant use their tompwe for thinking. Believe in what you in if that ll get you anywhere. death doesnt chose whether you a petty small tribalists or not. you sound very excited that with your humble life can find a way of insulting the institution of presidency. Silly lumpen.

  45. This is clear evil sucrifice, even if you insult those criticising this is pure satanism and whoever is behind all these satanic sacrifices in our country will die a very painful and shameful death and time will catch up with you soon coz you are not an island
