MMD president Nevers Mumba says he strongly condemns the violence in Livingstone regardless of the perpetrator.

The violence in the tourist capital on Monday evening claimed the life of a PF member Henry Chanda, resulting in the arrest of UPND president Hakainde Hichilema together with several of his members including two Members of Parliament Garry Nkombo and Request Muntanga.

Dr. Mumba in a statement issued by his Director of Communications Muhabi Lungu says the violence in Livingstone, whether perpetrated by the ruling PF or the opposition UPND should be condemned.

He says no form of violence should be entertained in a democratic nation like Zambia where divergent views need to be respected.

Dr. Mumba states that political parties participating in an election should solicit for support by using ideas and not violence.

He has since urged the police in southern province to thoroughly investigate the matter instead of rushing to act.

    • I don’t trust this man. Especially since I know of the violence he sponsors within MMD! And even the stones he bought for cadres in Mufumbwe

  1. Its only one party which is resposible for all this while the other is only responsiding proportion to the amount of force uesd therefore custodians of violence should be condemned first because without them no violence would have been record

  2. For the first time Mumba has said something that makes sense, HH will think you are stabbing him in the back. We need sanity in the opposition

    • YOU ARE SO HEARTLESS. I CANT IMAGINE WHAT THE FAMILY OF THE LATE CHANDA WOULD FEEL AFTER READING YOUR NONSENSE. GROW UP FOOL.

  3. Umwe ba donti kutina why are you now using a spokeman to deliver your message. Is it true you ran away from l/stnone using a bus fearing police.

  4. Mumba has seen that he has been associating with murderers hence the soft stance. if ti was the mailoni nephew that was killed, maweeee, by now he would have been saying the opposite

    • And what about the company he keeps and hooligans he sponsors like Bowman? They are always on his side and defending him, and when they unleash violence he doesn’t rebuke it

  5. After scampering from Livingstone, Mumba wants to use the situation to çlimb’on the back of his friend HH. Anyway, that is politics. Use the situation to your advantage and look holier than though. Major Kachingwe is still waiting for you. Sort that one out first before you get into the main ring, curtain raiser.

  6. Sata is spending all money on bribing & appointing more Ministers from the opposition instead of buying Drugs for patients in Zambia.

IDI AMIN in Uganda like Dictator Sata used to waste money & in the end he ordered the Central Bank to print more but when the Uganda Central Bank refused as it may have caused more inflation, he fired the Head of the Bank! Sata thinks money can just be printed & everything will solve itself. Zambians have now Mealie Meal shortages & killings.

No matter what, PF & its corrupt leaders does, Dictator Sata & his corrupt Ministers wont have a good end in Zambia! Its either they will be taken to CHIMBOKAILA with military arrests or Leopard Hill Cemetery with no salutes

No one can believe how Sata has made Zambians to HATE him with TOTAL HATRED

    • Be careful, useless man, which Zambians hate the president apart from the few bitter like you? He came through a Ballot box which eliminated the Useless ones like you. It is only the Ballot Box again that will get him out and not your hatred. Please wake up from the your denial of Defeat.

  7. This is what we should see and term administration of failure. For one thing it s a failure on the part of the PF leaders to keep their carders in check. A failure of the Zambia Police to exercise their duty effectively and progressively. A failure on the part of the minister of Justice and Home Affairs to show level headedness and ensuring that such elections take place incident free. But they cause a by-election and are also using violence to intimidate electorate and force the Zambian to live in fear!! This is a failure of leadership, this is a failure of presidency. There is an article of impending famine likely to affect 100,000 souls but we would much rather focus on this, this is a failure of governance. HAVE SOME RESPECT FOR YOUR COUNTRY PLEASE. Only then shall we see prosperity.

    • Shakaoz you are the only person who hates the president and believe you will die with hatred coz the president will be there for the next 8yrs. In your on opinion we dont have the oppostion which is lovable the way sata was. All the best and pray for the president to live long too.

  8. Man of God, thats the way you should be looking at issues Fair, Just and Patriotic. Once you show these traits, people will gather around you. Please don’t bunch yourself with a violent party like UPND. Start living your life. Stand against injustice and unfairness regardless who perpetrates it. Be a man of yourself and not easily influenced by wrong doers.

  9. Mr Mumba, Can you tell us who the main perpetrator was behind the violence that led to the beating up of Kachingwe?

  10. i feel sorry for mother zambia. this is what hatred can bring. lets be careful and preserve the peace that we are known for. mapatizya formula at work.

  11. There is no politician worth dying for on this earth; is my belief. When you look at the way the difference in political opinion is misrepresented by politicians you wonder why there is liquid flight from Zambia; making the exchange rate extremely unstable. We call it self inflicted problems created by poor judgement on the part of politicians. No patriotism what so ever; people just say what they like without weighing the consequences of their actions. Shame on you politicians; shame on you PF the current custodians of Zambia; shame on you Bantustan party; Shame on you Kolwestans ba kabwa imwe ba tubulu. MHSRIP – kwalesa ukaya landa shani? Sad indeed.

  12. This is the only acceptable stance from the leader. Thumbs up to the MMD leader Nevers Mumba. Continue to speak against violence regardless, of whoever including your members the votes will add up.

  13. UPND be very careful of the traps being set before you, retaliation in the name of self defense is not the solution they will implicate you with a tag of violence. No one will know the difference between who is violent between PF and UPND. An example is Uhuru and Ruto of Kenya facing trial at the Hague .Uhuru is accused of retaliation. It seems you are being provoked by strategy and they may use this as one of the defenses for the commonwealth.

  14. Zambia needs serious prayers. Christians it is time to pray for our nation without ceasing, everything happening in the nation is a reflection of the state of the Church .

  15. Actually mmd would do better to distance themselves from upnd ,these blood theist masonists.U can make it alone. Pastor,hh is not a company u should keep . Shame on u upnd with no conscience. In o the violence u are at the centre. COWARDS !

  16. I wish those words came much earlier ba Mumba! Locking the door when the horse has been stolen! Associating with Tekela William Banda what do you expect? Such incidences is one of the many to come if the situation is not checked. Politics in Zambia have become a sour grape because of selfishness of some individuals. Can we learn to co-exist and have respect for human life
