The Southern African Centre for the Constructive Resolution of Disputes (SACCORD) has appealed to government to consider advising Malawian Judge Lovemore Chikopa to return to his country and only come back to Zambia when the tribunal he is supposed to chair commences sitting.

SACCORD information officer Obby Chibuluma has said that the continued stay of the Malawian judge in the country is unnecessary.

Mr. Chibuluma said that there was no need for Judge Chikopa to continue staying in the country at the expense of tax payers’ money when he can return to his country.

He said that it was clear that the tribunal is on hold and that no work can be done in that regard.

On Friday, parliament herd that Malawian Judge Lovemore Chikopa who was invited by Government to chair a tribunal instituted by President Michael Sata to probe three judges is still in Zambia.

Vice President Guy Scott told the House that Judge Chikopa was in the country and that the tribunal to be chaired by the Malawian Judge was still on.

“Mr Speaker, Judge Chikopa is around and the tribunal is on,” he said. He was responding to MMD Vubwi Member of Parliament (MP) Eustarkio Kazonga who wanted to know the whereabouts of Judge Chikopa following his appointment to chair the tribunal.

  1. For doing nothing he is being fed & paid for free . Am sure he will be here for a long time. @ the end of it all we want the bill to be availed to the public since its our money his being paid.

When did this chikopa come into the country is it July 2012 ??

    • Sata is actually doing a ka ay back thing to chikopa for helping him in his deportation case in Malawi

  2. Go back where and do what there? Sit on his hands by his phone at his home in Malawi; the honourable Judge Lovemore Chikopa was sworn in by our government he can not just park up his luggage and go back then you call him back as if he is a pizza delivery boy…

    • Only in your country Pizza boys stand there waiting with-now cold dry pizza, while your President is busy changing ministers like prostitutes. A wise pizza boy with feed at-least the master’s dogs with that pepperoni pizza, lift his middle finger and walk back to Malawi.

    • Bo Maxwell you are a hypocrite to suggest that Judge Chikopa goes back to Malawi without (your) president telling him to do so. Sata invited Chikopa personally now masquarading the Zambian govt invited the judge. Even the powerless PF V/president is informing parliament without any shame at all. A COI will be set up on Sata why invite a foreign judge when more eminent qualified judges are available in the nation. It just goes to demonstrate Sata has no confidence in Zambian judges who even swore him into office. Maxwell, this is your president you worship and adore without shame, what a hypocrite!

    • @maxwel.. if its about being ´sworn in´ which keeps him chained in zambia, then he can easily be ´sworn out´

    • LOL – “park up his luggage”. That’s exactly the problem! He has PARKED his luggage in Zambia when he should be PACKING to go to Malawi since there is nothing to do here….. at least not now, and not for the past several months either!

  3. This is one of the most nonsensical sagas we have seen in a long time. Chikopo was hand picked by Satan for the favors he did for the Serpent when it was in Malawi on an illegal and ill advised errand. And for what, to come Zambia to protect Mmembe and Nchito just because they are friends with Satan. Putting Sata and PF in office was the worst mistake Zambians have ever made. By the time he is done with his never ending term of office he will have obliterated what remains of the little democracy that Zambians gained in 1991. Only PF bloggers in Zed embassies across the globe can’t see what is happening. They are knee deep in Satan’s corruption and nepotism. What a useless country, this Zambia sure mwe bantu!!

  4. This judge Chikopa seems like he also has no morals at all, if he is morally upright at this time he should have asked president Sata to call him back when the case will be ready to be tabled, unlike him sitting idol waiting for us people of Zambia up rise against him and PF government and chase him out of our country. The government should be transparent enough and tell us how much money they have spent on Chikopa so far for doing nothing.

  5. Chikopa is conduit for syphoning money. Instead of adding value to the powers that be, the Malawian is busy ‘denting’ but they don’t care as long as they can share spoils.

  6. This is one of the most irresponsible government Zambia has ever had and one of the worst in the world. It is worse that Idi Amin’s government .How can they be flushing hard earned tax payers cash down the toilet when the nation’s economy is on it’s knees just to protect thieves who have been found with a case to answer by our competent courts of law? This is the worst scandle that should be investigated once this senseless is kicked out.

  7. it is more money in chikopas poket being paid for doing nothing that is stealing in brod day light sata will pay back wheather it will take 20yrs.

  8. Nkokacili aka kantu mucisi? Katyani ino? Is he not a family man, or the wife is also here? Or are funding his night trips to Malawi to check on the family and wife? What exactly is happening here fellow countrymen? And you say the appointing authority has full brains!

  9. I think what Saccord are saying is simply reasonable. How can any person say no. Court cases take years- with appeals

  10. This is serious scandal!! Bwana Judge Chikopo how does it feel to be paid for doing nothing?? I would’nt accept such money however much the amount …..eeeee this is serious lack of morals…

  11. pf chief bootlicker – The other way of looking at it is that people with issues should just
allow the system operate and clear their names instead of blocking using the law. Judicial Reforms could be the answer and not calling Chikopa names. Maybe people are just taking advantage and abusing the judicial process. Time it takes to clear a case should not be years but days.

    • Let me just get this> a person is accused & immediately you have to clear your name; you want to save the gvt money & forgo your rights to fight your case; why in the world would you want to do that? A good example would be as an accused, with a bailable offense, you may wish to apply for bail before the case proceeds, why would you say that because the gvt would be wasting money hence I won’t apply for bail. Look at Pistorius, I am sure you would tell him to stay in jail until he clears his name. Systems exist that allows the three judges to fight b4 they get to clearing their names, plz let them use them. No one is stopping Chikopa from coming back when the time is right. Chikopa leave & you’ll be called back in good time. Money saved can buy two pkts of panadol for Chipata Clinic.

  12. I’m dismayed by the silence from the so called ngos regarding the chikopo’s saga. Pfpost is also quite coz it is an interested party who want to have a user friendly judiciary to abuse.
