Republican President Michael Sata has directed Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) Mutembo Nchito to establish whether UPND president Hakainde Hichilema can be prosecuted over his wealth.

President Sata says it is well known that Mr Hichilema allegedly stole all his wealth.

Mr. Sata has accused Mr. Hichilema of diverting resources from the privatization of companies to his personal accounts.

Speaking when he swore-in re-elected Mpongwe Member of Parliament Gabriel Namulambe as Foreign Affairs deputy Minister at State house this morning, President Sata says he sympathizes with Mr. Hichilema because he has never worked hard for anything that he has.

President Sata also swore in Sinjembela UPND Member of Parliament Poniso Njeulu and his Kalabo Central counterpart Chinga Miyutu as deputy ministers in the ministries of information and broadcasting services and youth and sport respectively.

He says it is very unfortunate that the UPND is no longer the same party it used to be under its founder leader late Anderson Mazoka.

And President Sata says it is funny how MMD president Nevers Mumba is claiming to be taking care of the party when he cannot take care of his hair.

he wondered how Dr Mumba can take of the people of Zambia when he can not take care of his own hair.

He has also accused Dr Mumba of duping his church of resources.

Meanwhile, President Michael Sata says youths in the opposition UNPD and MMD are at liberty to shun the youth day celebrations the same way the women in the two opposition political parties shunned the Women’s day celebrations on Friday.

The head of State however stated that government will not be blamed if the youths do not take advantage of the day to make known to government the challenges that they face.

    • How can a normal MP in UPND stand being sworn-in while the King conducting the ceremony is busy calling his leader names.
      I strongly suggest these so called Deputy Ministers revisit their positions. This is an attack on your party and you can’t stand their as if you also castrated. This is not normal and is unacceptable to people of your standing.
      I now know the President needs medical attention not only those other parts of the body but the brain too before he starts demanding to witness how HH bonks women.

    • I personally don’t have a problem with HH being wealthy for as long as he legitimately acquired this wealth.

      The question is what did HH have before he was given the job to oversee the privatisation programme? What did he own and how much?

      We should not only hold those in govt accountable but equally do the same to those aspiring for office.

      How can we trust HH with more of our national resources if he could cheat on the companies that he was entrusted to evaluate and consequently sending so many people out of employment?

      Let him come clean with his wealth. If he is clean and hardworking we will salute him, but if it turns out that he stole from the poor, let the law take its course

      1. It’s you and ka Chiluba and derick chintala who floated a tender to any abled company to help in privatisation. HH then at Grantthornton submitted their BID on how much they would charge GRZ to do the work and you agreed , this is what any business man would, unlike yourself who embezzled mezarf flats fund and banked it HH didn’t do that.

      2. May also remind you that unlike PF which has never gone for a convention , UPND has had 3 in a role the first one was when HH was voted by all provinces , Unlike yourself who just anointed himself. The other one was…

    • This is almost absurd now. HH had nothing to do with privatisation of companies in Zambia. His firm only acted as receivers on behalf of Lima Bank and RAMCOZ. As far as I know or records stand ZCCM was privatised by a Committe that was chaired by Francis Kaunda. ZPA was responsible for the remainder of companies in Zambia and HH was not even a board member of ZPA.

      This is the problem and PF are doing this knowing Zambians are not very well versed in many issues. Medieval Politics!

    • Before Mutembo investigates HH on his wealth, why doesn’t Mutembo first carry out a self investigation of his (Mutembo’s) ill gotten wealth. I am sure his master doesn’t see any wrong in how Mutembo got his wealth from being private prosecutor in the plunder cases.

    • Do not say things you do not know. For your own information HH has been doing alot for residents in lusaka – sinking boreholes, roofing market stalls, sponsoring students to colleges and universities etc. For all you know the clothes you are wearing could have been subsidised by HH.

  17. Mr Sata’s agitating for the prosecution of HH for his wealth is a clear demonstration of envy and bitterness. This is unbelievable that a head of state takes issues with its citizens with such adurcity that was experienced by late dictators like Mobutu, Amin, Bokassa (canibalist) and Mugabe of Zimbabwe. The sickness is definitely taking its tore in this man. We will continue to talk till he dies since Zambina already know how freedom is felt in Zambia. It is now possible to date the the beginnings of Michael Sata political demise as he takes leave of his senses. PF govt officials must be worried as they will out live Sata and Zambian future generation will demand answers when Sata will be long gone.

  23. This man is a comedian, he has always been and can never run a country. We have seen for ourselves, including those die-hard PF Kaponyas who always attributed any criticism on Sata to bitterness and envy. How can you envy a man like Sata who does not know what it takes to be president? How does Nevers Mumba’s hair become an issue; how is it connected to governance? This is total madness. Even the declaration of 7 guns as the aspiring president’s wealth is comedy at best. This tells you that Sata has never been serious from the beginning; he took politics as a game and not a channel through which one can provide leadership to a group of people. We are in a mess and it is up to us to correct this mess. We made a mistake and now it is our responsibility again to have it corrected…

  25. Our so called president really spooks me. Why start things he cannot finish? How long is it from the time those companies were privatized? Does he mean to tell Zambians that Chiluba, Levy and RB did not know HH was in the privatization syndicate? How about the president himself, was he not part of the government then?

  40. We have a lot of young boys on this blog who dont read history at all. HH is wealthy has been a subject matter not only today. Well, somebody who suddenly becomes a millionaire after chairing the proceeds of privatization and whose background riches are untraceable ,really and unless you are like RB ,you wouldn’t like to check the books of accounts. The way I know Sata once he starts a story ,he knows what he is talking about. Who knows,this could be the dossier they have been singing about exposing him to the commonwealth secretariat. “If you live in a glass house dont throw stones.“ Lets hear what HH will say about this issue than blindly defending him especially you small boys .

    • Sir, we should be objective when we look at things. Wasn’t Sata part of the Chiluba govt that advocated for wholesale privatisation of Zambia’s industries even when some of us protested? Did Sata raise any finger when the figure of the valuation was given to the govt. If he saw nothing wrong then, how come he is now throwing his toys like a spoilt baby.   58. I personally knew HH, long before the privatization was carried out. He already had some wealth, of course not as much as today. His riches are started with him owning some shares with private firm he worked for and later that firm was to sold to a few Zambians (including him). He was already at the top of the firm before it was sold, and was getting a lot as managing partner. When privatization started, they (Zambians) already owned this company (locally owned by this time) and it was this local firm (not HH) that was recruited to carry out privatization. Remember, that FTJ also tried to implicate HH, and he was told NO by the special branch as there were no legitimate charges they could get. I think on this one, HH will come out clean, try something else.

I personally know his party man Choolwe Beyani, who is a failed politician and an unemployed, has been trying to steal a company which belong to a foreigner, who had to leave Zambia on medical ground and then whenever he tried to come, Beyani created an anti-corruption situation and the man could never come. This foreigner, a personal friend of mine has been in Zambia for the past 20 years and has created hundreds of direct employment. Beyani is now destroying the company which still employs about 40 workers.

  84. Bwana DPP the simple answer to the president’s question is no. You do not prosecute the presidents opponents for the heck of it, There must be probable cause. And no being of a different political persuasion, age, gender, profession, ethnic background, skin color are not in themselves probable cause. If we must open Pandora’s box, then the President must be willing to have his own passed engagements and those of his cabinet subjected to the same measure scrutiny.

Our late President Levy Patrick Mwanawasa made Sata popular by remanding him in prison for 40 days all because of bad advice he was getting from Mmembe and Nchito who had a bone to chew with Sata at the time.Mmembe went to Levy and told him that he had evidence that send Sata rot in jail and Levy was quick to buy that and remember Levy also had a bone to grind with Sata that started along time when both of them served under FTJ.Little did Levy realise that he was marketing Sata and by the time all the charges against Sata failed to materialise because Xavier refused to testify against Sata alot of damage had already been done and Sata was a hero.This is what is happening to HH,Mmembe is using Sata to fight HH but Sata does not know that he is marketing HH the way Levy marketed him.

  90. HH has no obligation whatsoever, to start explaining his wealth or giving any further declaration of the same from what he gave when he was vying for the Presidency. It is up to his accuses to charge him with whatever crime(s) they allege he committed and adduce evidence.
    By the way, it is alarming that a President can pre-occupy himself with leaders of opposition parties to this extent – even mentioning the state of one’s hair! Does Nevers even have hair? I haven’t quite noticed. Sata declared 7 guns as a representation of how far he went in school – grade 7! And that perhaps is an insult to geniune grade 7’s.

  95. HH is being haunted for his riches becos he is a tonga. According to Sata nobody in Zambia should be rich unless he is a Bemba. Why doesn’t he query the riches of GBM who it is known he never got his riches through satanic methods but through corruption, Kambwili got his riches through scrap metals but after destroying railwaylines leading to abadoned mines. HH is being haunted by Sata becos he is a Tonga and better educated and a professional than a Grade 6 and constable which Sata attained before he was rescued by KK.
