Opposition Forum for Democracy and Development (FDD) leader, Edith Nawakwi has described as retrogressive calls by some opposition political leaders inciting their youths not to participate in national events.

Ms Nawakwi who was speaking at Freedom Statue yesterday after participating in the match past during the Youth Day celebrations said there was no need for the youths to snub national events because that was the platform for them to air their grievance and tell the government what they wanted it to do for them.

She called on the government not to leave out the youth when implementing programmes which affected them.

“Involving youths in national programmes is encouraging and can help in the improvement of economic growth, I urge the PF government not to exclude the youths but to encourage them to participate in national development regardless of their political affiliation,” she said.

And PF Lusaka Information and Publicity secretary, Stanley Chiuma said it was encouraging to see youths defying the earlier order to boycott this year’s National Youth Day celebrations saying such events were vital for the youths.

He said staying away would have meant that there was no unity among youths in the country and that such political parties should stay away from promoting violence as it was a recipe for civil strife in any country.

“Such functions are vehicles of promoting peace and development in the country, youths are able to interact with others and in turn share ideas for political development, it is unfortunate that some opposition political parties still want to promote violence and not togetherness,” he said.

National Restoration Party (NRP) president Cosmo Mumba Dr Mumba said national events were not for political parties but for all Zambians and asked all youths not to listen to their leaders who did not shun such events in their days as they knew the benefits of attending
national events.

  1. The opposition did not ask the general youth to stay always, stop twisting facts. The opposition said they would not participate ,meaning they would not have their youth wing march representing the parties like what the FDD, PF and no name party did.
Nawakwi, you are not a youth and made comedy of the march..youmshouldmhave marched at international women’s day…useful ***** nawakwi

    • It is very clear that politics of the belly has really got the better of Edith Nawakwi. Yes, it is easy for her to say what she has said and take part in the youth day celebrations because she has been paid money by government to feel her kitchen with meals. What of the hungry and jobless youths? What is there for them to celebrate? Let Nawakwi and Catherine Namugala remember that a day is coming when they shall be made to answer for all what they are corruptly getting.

  2. Full of lies. Which party told to youths to shun the celebration. As usual PF, instead of addressing youth issues at the celebration, their main message was the opposition. So what was the government’s message on youth day?

    • `nawakwi with stolen husband in the picture` This woman is shocking, surely how did she expected youths to celebrate youth day with NO MONEY in their pockets, NO jobs,.. now they cannot eat , there is a mealie meal shortage country wide.

    • I THINK THE GOVT IS RIGHT BY WISHING TO START RECORDING INSULTS DIRECTED AT INDIVIDUALS ESPECIALLY WOMEN. THERE’S NO POINT IN INSULT NAWAKWI WHETHER IN PUBLIC OR PRIVATE INDISCRIMINATELY AS WE ARE WITNESSING. NAWAKWI MUST BE RESPECTED JUST LIKE ANY OTHER HUMAN BEING. I THINK CONTROL OF ELECTRONIC PAPERS TO SOME LEVEL TO CURB UN-PRINTABLES DIRECTED ON INDIVIDUALS.

    • FRED MEMBE IS A TRAINER OF INSULTS. HE HAS BEEN CHURNING OUT INSULTS FOR 2 DECADES CALLING PEOPLE JACKLES. HYNAS. IDOILTS. FULLS. AND QUOTTIN INSULTS. SATA CALLED CHANDA CHIMBAS AS CHANDA CHIMBWI. ON youth day , our president should have come to address more jobs and more money to the youths. instead he obeyed the opposition and shurned.

    • @peter…. they are recording?? really???, they will need a very big book, and those records should start with insults within state house

  3. #3, Honestly speaking, is this comment appropriate? Why can’t you differ with reasoning rather than insulting a person you barely know? Smart minds discuss ideas. With this kind of intolerance to divergent views, how do you expect the country to develop? Going by the rate of impropriety in the language being used on these site, I am saddened that, we are not leaving or teaching our youths morals that will make them responsible and productive citizens. Let’s be civil in our discourse. We all have ideological inclinations we hold dear, however, we should also realise that others too have different ideologies that are not necessarily in line with ours. Lets disagree respectfully without trashing one another. If tommorrow you are in leadership position, would you love to be insulted…

    • @i speak my mind….. what do you mean insulting?? NObody is insulting.if anything Nawakwi is the one `insulting` poor and desperate youths, because she wants them to celebrate poverty

    • ndobo, read coment #3, if what he/she said does not amount to insulting then there arent no insults in the world. i hate people who can’t debate but just rush to insult others.

    • @musoli muthanshi…. you can hate all you want to grave, i wont care abit…not one bit that i can promise you. The problem with small people like you is that you either mixing up the meaning to insulting or you donot know it at all… in english if i say `your penis`, people will end up laughing at me instead, because its not an insult. but if i say the same words in chibemba it will be a `cursing` insult.
I have a question for you my boy. Do you think if an american stands up says Obama is stupid, do you think thats an insult?? and do you think that person should be jailed? … insulting in english is not insulting in chibemba.

  4. Number 3, you are a sad case. Would you insult your mother like that? If you disagree with what the lady said then discuss what you disagree with, don’t insult a woman you barely know. What if a character like your self insulted your mother? It saddens me that such platforms are being used by cowards and low lifes to spread such unpalatable language.

  5. I honestly think there is something wrong with this woman. I mean, who does not know the problems that woe the youths in Zambia today? Does the PF surely need a platform like this one for the youths to air their grievances and tell the government what they wanted it to do for them? After nearly two years in power, any government that is still oblivious to the perils of the youths in the country and still wants them to tell it what to do for them is COMPLETELY USELESS! Whoever thinks so too is rotten in the head. Forsake ka Nawakwi, ubupuba mu kalukobo!

  6. People with no answers to the problem will always look for a wrong word uttered by someone and then change the whole subject. Everyone knows that Nawakwi is a finished politician. Why look for one insulting word and change the whole subject from youth day and Nawakwi to “insulting nawakwi”. Dont divert from the main subject, because all can see that you have been deafited and have nothing to contribute to the PF failed government. Even in married life, when a man is deafited in a domestic urgument, the only thing he will think of is threatening violence, meaning “I cant defend my point”. So stop giving excuses and stick to the subject.

  7. Nawakwi, Nakawala, Namugala wait for dictator Sata to swore you as PF spokeswoman. We are aware you and Sata went to Brazil. Sata gave you a job as Northern province chakuti, chakuti. Come out in the open and leave Fititi and you will remind Zambians your usual character as first lady of state house.

  8. Nawakwi made a mockery of herself and demeaned the status of FDD for her participation on Youth Day march to please Ukwa in an effort to seek for a job It is possible Nawakwi is also exploring avenues on how to share with Masebo and Namugala on Kabimba’s prowess well known for the games enacted under the blurred moonlight. What a bunch of husband grabbers from these shameless (…….?) prostitutes.

  9. No one was stopping the youths to participate in this years celebration. This is just propaganda by the PF to always find faults in the opposition. At the same time if PF had met with UPND at celebration PF youths would have started the confusion, they are always behaving like unruly. At the end of the day you blame the opposition.

  10. Who in their right mind would preach hate to their own child after disagreeing with their brother over common ground? This tells you why Africans sold and still sell each other, kwena poverty is a weapon of mass distruction!

  11. A NORMAL PERSON CAN’T AGREE WITH THESE THAT ARE INSULTING HER 4 THEY LUNATICS.EVEN IF THEY DID NOT ATTEND WHO CARES? YOUTH THAT ARE PATRIOTS WIL CONTINEUE TO ATTEND.AFTER ALL MMD AND UPND ARE SALE OUT. THEY’RE TRAITORS. SHAME ON THEM.

  12. Insults will not take us anywhere, dear friends.Let us use our God given wisdom to’ prudently’ advise or encourage each other where need be. Iam really saddened by this demonic culture of insults emanating from sources that are supposed to be role models or icons for the future.

  13. I am earnestly appealing to my fellow bloger addicts to only attack each other’s points of weaknesses and not on personalities.

  14. How nice that all people could behave Normally. Politicians will come and go even the youthj of today will not be youths forever. Why not go to kamfinsa prison like the youth for Gigal community church did? Why not celebrate by sweeping and making drainage for your neighbourhood or even up grade your home by cleaning your yard. When you are no longer a youth that is when you will go for youth day like Nawakwi!!!!! Wow
