President Michael Sata today swore in veteran politicians Daniel Mukombwe as Deputy Mininster for Southern Province. In a ceremony at State house,

the president also swore in Chilubi PF Member of Parliament Obius Chisala as Northern province Deputy Minister.

President Sata also swore in two Permanent Secretaries under cabinet office, Benard Kamphasa for Policy Analysis and Coordination Division and Ndashe Yumba for Management Development Division

And President Sata fumed following the delay to move the provincial capital of Southern province from Livingstone to Choma.

Mr Sata questioned why it has taken long to move the provincial capital when he issued the directive a long time ago.

The President hinted that politics of talking is long gone noting that it is time for delivering development.

The Head of State explained that Choma was more centrally located compared to Livingstone hence his decision to move the provincial capital.

Meanwhile, the President Sata has directed Deputy Ministers and Permanent Secretaries to undertake country-wide developmental tours of provinces and districts.

Mr Sata advised the deputy ministers and Permanent Secretaries to desist from sitting in offices but rather go in provinces and monitor government projects taking place there.

The Head of State wondered how Deputy Ministers and Permanent Secretaries can acquaint themselves with the challenges that civil servants face in executing government work if they do not tour the country-side.

The President explained that the only way government officials will enhance development in provinces and districts is by touring various government projects taking place.
President Sata made the directive when he swore-in two provincial deputy ministers and two permanent secretaries.

Mr Sata said Zambia is where it is today because of the district commissioners who frequently toured government projects.

Mr Sata said the only way development is going to be expedited throughout the country is when Deputy Ministers and PSs play an active role of monitoring government projects.

The President questioned why Deputy Minister and PS were getting tax payer’s money when they don’t tour provinces and districts.

President Sata cautioned Ministers and Permanent Secretaries to refrain calling chiefs but to visit them and get their concerns on matters of national development.

He said the only way that traditional leaders are going to appreciate governmnet services is when they visit them during the monitoring of projects.

Mr Sata implored Vice President Dr Guy Scott to encourage Deputy Ministers and Permanent Secretaries to tour districts.

Time of Mwanawasa he played it smart, however, he briefly fainted when he lost after spending so much. Came time of Bwazani, convinced him… lastly MC is in for him. Super STAR
In 1996 or 1998,at NOL’S farm, I remember him telling me that the world has super stays.. football- Kalu, Farming i was an example, then he said him was political super star…..indeed the man is a super star…..Mwenda, chimunya, nchenga you have a parent
    Regards
    Political Super star

  9. This Munkombwe man must be using Juju!!!!! He is the only one who has served in all the five political administrations of this country. When is he going to retire please mwe banthu napapata??????? Even the appointing authorities, why appoint this old finished man??????

  10. I like the presido’s entusiasm and drive. How I wish we could focus 100% of PF’s energies to the drive.

Perhaps it’s time we moved away from the media and the ‘MMD/UPND vs. the Law’ circus and focussed on what MCS promised and wants to achieve.

  11. It is very easy to get an appointment from a zambian govt. just praise and worship that is all it takes bothers. Just be seen on media and yell praise and worship on PF and Sata specifically, my friend I have no doubt you will make it soon.

  12. hahahahahahaha..i am wondering what the energetic pf youths are doing about it..the back benchers ..plenty of them in parley form pf..are they that dull..?Munkombwe should be busy milking his animals by 1600hrs today..

  13. In Zambia all you need is to insult the opposition and claim they are tribalists,in no time, you will be sitting at Cabinet meetings! Youth empowerment my arse!

  14. Pf admit you have failed dismally in everything. What is left with you is the politics of appeasement and nepotism.

  15. CONGRATULATIONS MR MUNKOMBWE. YOU ARE NOT ONLY A HARD WORKER BUT A STRATEGIST. YOU DESERVE THE APPOINTMENT, SIR. LET THE YOUNG ONES KNOW WHAT BEING AHARD WORKER IS ALL ABOUT. UWAKANWA TAKUTULA.

  16. ni ci crook cimudaala,i wonder if really we,re going to get out from the jaws of these
crooks.the current president king cobra is a thug, believe me zambians the whole group of pf are thugs and they,ll govern this country may be a century.only a thug can stop a thug and in opposition we don,t ve a party led by a thug as u know no sane person shud fight an insane.when u fight an insane person u end up being severely bruised.just wait very soon we,ll start witnessing mysterious deaths by eliminating potential threats.he has managed to silence all vocal ngo who used to critise the govt of the day.hold on this is cobra for u,comedian at the same time a savage and he,ll even refuse to handover power jst looking frm his deeds.

  17. Our colleagues like Kenya and Ghana are building ICT hubs and cities….what is Sata doing? Digging up dinosaurs and relics from fossil rocks. Honestly what can an 80 year old man be doing in an office from 9-5 everyday??
    Wake up people!!

  18. Some of you guys are so low in politics. Mr Mukombwe has been brought in for a purpose. We need Southern province just as we need North Western province. Whilst we distribute development all around the country we are also mind full of 2016 elections. Southern province here we come.

  19. I had been stated that the President of Zambia was going to address the nation during the swearing in ceremony of veteran political drifter Daniel Munkombwe. Sadly, this was not to be. The long wait continues. However, I am sure when this rare opportunity presents itself, the questions will have been devised by State house and a strict vetting of jounalists that will ask the prepared qustions will have been carried out.

  20. #17 YOU ARE A LAIR. MR MUNKOMBWE DID NOT SHOUT ANY SLOGAN, HE WORKED HARD FOR THIS APPOINTMENT BY CAMPAIGNING HARD FOR PF. WORKING HARD IS SIMPLY NOT IN YOUNG MEN AND WOMEN TODAY. SO, WHO DO YOU OFFER A JOB? A HARD WORKER OR A LAZY CHAP? THE ANSWER IS FOR YOU TO FIND. ONCE AGAIN CONGRATS MR MUNKOMBWE. NOW, MAKE SURE LIVINGSTONE IS TURNED INTO A REAL TOURIST CAPITAL.

  21. IT IS ALL POLITICAL. THE PF NEEDS TO STRATEGISE. THEY NEED TO SWEEP SP AND NWP ONTO THEIR SIDE. TAKE IT OR LEAVE IT MUNKOMBWE IS IN THE BOAT. ALL OF YOU WHO ARE HALLUCINATING ARE JUST ENVIOUS. HOW CAN ONE APPOINTMENT DISADVANTAGE THE THOUSANDS OF YOUTHS ARROUND? EVEN THE YOUTHS NEED TO STAND UP AND BE COUNTED. THE POOR OLD MAN EVEN IN HIS OLD AGE CAMPIGNED FOR PF. HE DESERVES THE APPOINTMENT. THE REST OF THE YOUTHS SHOULD GO TO SCHOOL. DONT LOOK FOR POLITICAL JOBS. GO TO SCHOOL AND GET A NON-POLITICAL JOB.

  22. Politics of the belly at its worst indeed! What has Munkobwe done for his province since he started serving in different government positions. He should have been employed as a party cadre and not in govt. No wanderwe are always lagging behind in developmental issues. How honestly does a country to develop with chaps like Munkombwe!

  23. In the corporate world, you wear suits for interviews, in politics, you bootlick, really there is no dignity in this world!

  24. ZWD can really dig deeper. Read about this on ZWD way before the swearing in ceremony. I guess the young people in PF are disappointed by the appointment of Mr Munkombwe who can be described as Zambia’s number one turncoat.

  25. I honestly now believe the Zambian Watchdog have a couple of GPS screws nailed on Zondwe! I mean, literally everything they have said about Zondwe’s intended moves has come to pass. Even with his catheter and urinary bag, we’ll prove it when he leaves for China and the urinary bag bursts sponteneously at the Great Wall or indeed the Great “Whore” of the People!

  26. Sata wanted to appoint a prominent Tonga. I’m told by reliable sources that HH declined to be a deputy Minister, He wanted to be Minister of Gwembe Valley Province. Sata was not impressed. So Daniel got the job!!!. Good Luck Daniel, you are as young as you feel.

  27. Munkombwe ni chelelebula. He has been changing positions depending on who is ruling. This is the last time we shall hear of the old man. Mwaanga is finally gone and soon it will be you.

  28. It is a fact that every time Daniel Munkomwe is appointed a Minister in a Government that Party has always lost the General Elections.
I remember very well in 1991 Daniel as an MCC with a hoe in his hand as a symbol for UNIP insulting MMD that it will not form government while campaigning as MP for Choma central, UNIP lost to MMD.
In 2011 Munkombwe was at it again campaigning for MMD in Southern Province and MMD lost.
Now he is again Minister in PF I hope history does not repeat itself come General elections 2016 or earlier as perceived by some sections of the media.
    Only time will tell…………………………

  29. An 80 year old man as a deputy minister? shameful – just like Panji. these guys are past retirement age.
DEPUTY!! Zambians really have no pride or morals.

  30. Ubu bupuba by Sata why appointing achikote who has surpassed retirement age and finished politician when we have so many youths who are qualified. When is PF gonna give jobs to young pipo?

  31. Congrats Obias Chisala for that appointment work hard to pull Northern Province from the doldrums. Also ensure that the road to Chaba in Chilubi is worked on. Last week I was in your district for work, just problems with the same road

  32. The President is a politician and politically, this is a shrewd decision. Munkombwe campaigned heavily for the PF in Livingstone and they got their first seat there, you may argue on whether the victory can be attributed to him or some other factors, but he was involved. The other by-election lllast year in same Livingstone, the PF lost narrowly and he had not participated in the campaigns, so evrything bei8ng equal, you can not discount his contribution.

There are indications there could be more by-elections in Southern Province and if Munkombwe proves he can deliver, everything else doesnt matter, after all, he is an experienced politician, albeit, the Father of Politics of Benefits, or better still politics of the belly.

You may not like it but the decision is politicial and…

  33. This is a worse than a “ukubuta/madimbi”! Of all the current political party leaders, the only one who can bring some sanity and who is a critical thinker is General Miyanda. Pity his parties network is not formidable. If only he had funds to start going round the country and selling himself and his plans for the country, he does stand a chance. Better still if the major opposition parties can agree and put their egos before the countries good.

  34. Very sad day, this old man has no morals, he is the worst political prostitute the country has ever produced.

  35. They story in watchdog is different. Anyway he is talking sense. Ministers are just chasing skirts and dancing with Congolese dancing queens.

  36. I recall how fondly Munkombwe and Alabee would speak Ndebele and how at the funeral of one of his wives in Choma, Munkombwe remarked on how his friendship with Alabee could never be broken. Today, Alabee must be a broken man or sorry, Munkombwe is the broken man. I have never seen such duplicity…..not even his cousin-cum-nephew Johnson Vernon will surpass judas iscariot Chibwalu Daniel Masipa.

  37. A very sad day for mother Zambia and all the smart young fellas of our generation robbed the oppurtunity to serve and share the modern ideas in developing our richly naturally blessed country….SMH

  38. EXCUSE ME IS THIS THE SAME Daniel MUNKOMBWE who was CHOMA GOVERNOR IN UNIP DAYS AND ALSO OWNED KULUNDU MOTEL WHEN I WAS IN GRADE 2 AT SHAMPANDE PRIMARY SCHOOL 40 YEAR AGO? WE ARE A LOST GENERATION WHICH CANNOT RULE ITSELF I DREAD TO COME BACK HOME. WHY SHOULD WE BE. RULED BY THE OLD GUARDS WITH THEIR OLD MENTALUTIES OF THE PAST CENTURY?

  39. Busy firing young and intelligent Given Lubinda and appoint Munkombwe, Sata is really a dribbler too! Ifikote fyeka fyeka atase!

  40. Peter, u have really cracked my ribs ati “uwakanwa takutula”. Honestly Hon Munkombwe still game………Its a big joke but thats how life can be sometimes.

  41. Ha! Ha! Ha! Really LMAO Ati dynosaurus chameleonus. What a fitting name For a muselela kwakaba relic!

  42. Munkombwe stole money under Mwanawasa in an election campaign tour in the Gwembe valley. The old goat had been given 400m to distribute to cadres in his role as Provincial ministers but sent his driver to deliver 300m to Choma under the cover of darkness. The following morning Munkombwe was heard hissing and yelling aloud in his hotel room. When security and top Government officers rushed to his room, they found him lying on the floor in pajamas with his arms extended to the heavens sobbing uncontrollably. When asked, he replied that he had in the past heard about money disappearing by “Kambuma”, witchcraft, but it had never happened to him until that day. Levy a distinguished lawyer didn’t buy that story and was to fire him after his return from Egypt, but that was not to be, as Levy…

  43. …Continued… as levy died. Sata should watch Munkombwe especially in this shifting of the provincial capital from Livingstne to Choma. Money will ‘go’.

  44. To evrything there is a price to pay….Youths of Zambia never used brains wen voting but tribe, eloquency in telling lies and a man of action.which pf youth is employed today?Hapunda came from UPND,which Youth?Youths admit you were fooled, duped and now even if u cry,the presido is balancing brains with Munkombwe,Mbuzi,Chikwanda,Phiri, that ambassador to Ghana,Mr Hapunda and some old folks.cry and cry wont help…useless and directionless Zambian Youth….shame

  45. If you voted for Pf(political fossils) show me your face for indeed you voted for political fossils here they are the dinasaurs and the like.It beats logic why an 85 year old dinasaur would be a minister when there are so many briliant young Zambians.Even among the Tongas he could get descency for a provincial minister.Who voted for these dinasaurs?GOD SAVE ZAMBIA.
