Former President Rupiah Banda was today warned and cautioned by the Joint Investigative Team over his alleged involvement in the illegal acquisition of a piece of land in the prime Baobab area.
Joint Government Investigations Team Spokesperson Namukolo Kasumpa told Journalists in Lusaka that Mr. Banda was today warned and cautioned on the acquisition of the Baobab land.
“The former President was interviewed this morning under warn and caution over the acquisition of land in Baobab area,” Mrs. Kasumpa said.
Mrs Kasumpa however failed to give details on the next date of questioning attributing this to Mr. Banda’s pending courts cases.
“We communicate through the media the next dates for further questioning once we have agreed on the dates with his lawyers.”
The Former President arrived at the DEC offices around 10:15 for questioning that lasted closed to three hours.
He however opted not to speak to Journalists after the questioning session and quickly sped off.

Ndeloleshafye for now.Really want to see where this ends.
yaba 120 ha for a president its nothing mwebantu. i own 150 ha in prime farming area of chisamba as a simple civil servant. what about someone who a president. lets be serious as a nation. if lupiya has no case let the drunk scot free & lock up yo daughters. the man has pension money & propersity for young ones.
Even a half of ha if acquired in a corrupt way is criminal. Its not right for a ladder to acquire land in a corrupt way.Come to UK you will agree with me that corruption does not pay.
the problem is not about the size of land but how it was aquired.
First it was oil, now land, whats next? shoes, rabbits, goats the witch hunt never ends. throw the kitchen sink in the hope something hits.
What was the nature of the corruption? This investigation seems to be based on MALIKOPO stories.
If the Mpundu Trust Fund project is anything to go by, then let’s not even put forward credible answers to questions we are not even aware of. People are rightly suggesting that the issue is not the size of land but how it was aquired. We have just read today that this Govt through its investigative wings, put a restriction order on the development of the Mpundu Trust Fund pending corruption investigations. Now unless, this Govt has evidence that state resources have been or were used to service the loan, its futile exercise and an abuse of authority. Access Bank is no the Side of Tandiwe and business has the state got in an agreement between two private companies? It will be the same issue in this matter. This Govt is indeed fishing for dry fish on the Zambezi river.
acquiring of land has long process and many are involved. how is gradice nyirongo. Land all the kapoyas will be arrested. what about TBZ land. NAMBORD houses and land . Who benefited. Mwe Zambian, Bandanes and Santanians .
FELLOW COUNTRY MEN WHY CANT WE TALK PROGRESS INSTEAD OF RB OR THANDIWE PLEASE PIPO ARE SUFFERING LIKE HELL
TRYING TO ELIMINATE CORRUPTION IS INDEED PROGRESS. IF RB ABUSED OFFICE, AND DONT FORGET THAT RB REMOVED THE CLAUSE OF ABUSE IN ORDER TO COVER UP HIS MISDIDS. NOW IS FIGHTING FOR HIS REMOVED IMMUNITY. IF INOCENT WHY CRY FOR IT?
KK didnt cry but kafupi and RB are crying. Why? The one who runs away from the police is guilty. Why is Rupiah afraid of going to court to clear his name. Discussing development does not mean ignoring corruption or indeed handling any crime.
