Republican President Micheal Sata has urged the electorate of Southern Province to give him Members of Parliament who belong to his party if the province was to develop.

And Southern Province Minister Daniel Munkombwe told a huge gathering that attended the meeting that if President Sata was a tribalist, he wouldn’t have appointed the ten Ministers from Southern Province who are currently serving in his government.

And Chief Chikanta thanked President Micheal Sata for appointing Mr. Munkombwe as Southern Province Minister.

Mr Sata cited Livingstone, which recently gave the ruling party the only PF Member of Parliament in Southern Province, as one of the areas that was receiving development as a result of having voted for a PF MP.

ZANIS reports from Kalomo that the President was speaking at Chungu palace in Chief Chikanta’s area in Kalomo district today. This was during the welcoming and appreciation ceremony for Provincial Minister Daniel Munkombwe.

He said Southern Province was capable of feeding the entire Africa and beyond.

The President has further said that opposition leader Hakainde Hichilema has continued to mislead the people in the province by alleging that the Patriotic Front government was a Bemba government when ten of his ministers hail from Southern Province.

He cited Commerce Minister Emmanuel Chenda, Lands Minister Wylbur Simusaa and Western Province Member of Parliament Obvious Mwaliteta as being some of the Ministers as some of the ten Tonga Ministers currently saving in his government.

President Sata observed that government will only deliver in those areas where he has PF Members of Parliament.

And Southern Province Minister Daniel Munkombwe told a huge gathering that attended the meeting that if President Sata was a tribalist, he wouldn’t have appointed the ten Ministers from Southern Province who are currently serving in his government.

Mr Munkombwe said President Sata had included Tongas in his government even if they did not vote for him.

And speaking earlier, Chief Chikanta thanked President Micheal Sata for appointing Mr. Munkombwe as Southern Province Minister.

He said Mr Munkombwe will uplift the living standards of the people of Southern Province adding that all the chiefs in the province were in support of the appointment of Mr Munkombwe.

Chief Chikanta said more than 27 chiefs attended the ceremony. He also observed that the province was begging for development in terms of road infrastructure, clinics and to improve the phone network.

And Chieftainess Mwenda of Chikankata district said she was positive Mr Munkombwe would work hand in hand with the President in developing the province.

She said Southern Province was one province that had a lot of problems because people were not united. She called upon her fellow Chiefs to help unite the province.

”We are facing a lot of problems in this area because we are a province that is not united. Chiefs lets unite. This government is planning to bring development, so its up to us to sit together and unite for the sake of development,” she said.

Chieftainess Mwenda noted that government had the problems of the people in the province at heart as it was already considering building palaces for the chiefs.

Earlier, President Sata met more than 27 Chiefs who had come to welcome him at the palace.

Senior Chief Monze in his welcoming remarks noted that there was no ruler on earth who put himself in power unless by the grace of God. He called upon his fellow chiefs to work with the President who was in power and who was ruling.

”We have great respect for the ruler whom God has given us this time. We can talk about the hunger that is looming in this country but only our ruler can do something about it,” he said.

He observed that Mr. Munkombwe was a local person who was well vested with the challenges that the people in the province were going through.

The President who arrived at Chief Chikanta’s palace aboard a Presidential chopper has since returned to Lusaka.

  1. Southern ba PF, you can’t win anywhere on a straight. You have to rig. Actually they are doing donchi kubeba on you. munkombwe is our dog who can’t bite.

  2. This is abuse of office. The money yopu are using belongs to all Zambians. You can not blackmail citizens that you will take development if there are MPs from the ruling party! What type of leadership is that? It is not PFs money. Zambia is a multiparty democracy. This is the most disturbing statement any Zambian president has ever made.

    • Sorry typo above: I wrote in a hurry in anger. I meant the money you are using belongs to all Zambians and the cake must be shared regardless of which party the voters belong to. The cake must be shared equally. Munkombwe has been there since independence, so why hasn’t he taken development all this time as he has always belonged to the ruling party? Very shallow thinking. So what is he sugghesting, induce another by-election?

    • your opposition MPs oppose everything the government is doing, how can u develop? they even oppose creation of districts in their areas! foolish politicians.

    • The president got it wrong, we pay tax and to say they will only take development where they are PF MPs is a misplaced and misleading statement from the Head of State to the electorates. Our politicians are really taking as for granted and think they are so powerful when in office, lets get educated and uplift the welfare of our country. As a young person I am really disappointed with such statements and a celebration turned into being political. Parading 27 chiefs from Southern Province just to make sure that the ruling party gain support in the region. We really need to change the way politics are conducted in Africa, if we want to see meaningful development to all corners of our regions. Politics of the belly won’t take us anywhere. Our politicians luck integrity and moral principal.

  3. Something is seriously wrong in the head of our president,”Sata urged the electorate of SP to give him Mps if the area is to develop”. What an ambrancement to our country Zambia? Let Sata develop Zambia or tell us to stop paying tax to the government otherwise, he has an obligation as the president to aprove the living standards of all Zambians, W/prov, Muchinga etc ALL. Let Sata stop politicking & go to work for Zambians bcoz Zambians pay/feed him.

    • You are right. This man sometimes lacks wisdom and simple intelligence. There is no where in our constitution which states that the more MPs are in govt the more resources they ll take to their constituencies. In fact SP is more developed than most parts of Northern province or even EP who have had 90% of MPs from the ruling party. Let me focus on developing Zambia and stop those old style politics. This is what makes some of us to hate him more.

  4. Another typo I am just too angry with the suggestion of another one-party state if the whole country has to develop. This man must not be allowed to manipulate the citizens who fought so hard for democracy.

  5. The so called man of action no talking about no sense time. Can u deliver the man is completely blank .No clue whatsoever on what to do!

  6. Sata should be told in no uncertainty terms that we are under multi party system and not one party, pf use tax payer money and not sata personal money. Not all tAx payer belong or support the pathetic fools

    • If you dont understand different government systems dont expose your ignorance. If you attended your Civics classes you will know that Italy’s president is ceremonial. Power is vested in the Prime Minister. Ireland also has a ceremonial President, power is vested in the Taoiseach. It helps to be versed with different government systems before you suggest that Ukwa is still very young.

    • In ITALIA, Prime Minister runs govt. President’s power is to appoint PM but does not run govt. More like GB system

    • Mfumu, on this site you spend half the time educating folks that have no time to read. I am beginning to suspect some people use this forum as a learning media, instead of sharing opinions 🙂

  7. The president should not utter such statements because he is a president of the republic including areas like lukulu which rejected his party yesterday. It’s not right to black mail citizens in this manner. No to blackmail.

  8. Bakabusha……kanshi ba sata wesu baoneka kuli chamene banyamula mu shirt!!!! Or ni ku
    ina mwandini…..awe.

The president is definitely carrying something inside his shirt. I hope its not one of the Taliban stuff……….you know like one of those things that went off during the Boston marathon.

  9. He is just a liar, Livingstone is receiving money because its the tourist capital and UNWTO will be held their. The whole Lusaka is under Sata PF,what development is there. Luapula is all under PF, what development. What about Nalolo has he done anything there.its your money, vote as you wish.

  10. Ukwa & Mr Politics-to-eat have run out of ideas. Thanks Lukulu West for showing us what will happen in 2016. That is the way to go! These guys have lived their useful- life. We need a complete leadership revolution in this country. Sata & DM should rest now & let the new generation take up the leadership challenges of our country as they advice where they can.

  11. What sort of President is this? All he has on his mind are elections. Where is your vision for the country Luwawa tuwe wena!

    • Of course you will be dead by the time HH is president in 2016 – so in your premonition you can’t see him in future. We are not worried about you. You are nothing. You don’t matter anymore, not even to Sata and PF.

  12. You all who are saying bad things about the president, you don’t knw how it takes to be a president.wat do u think u can do compared to wat the president is doing if u were a president.don’t think it is easy to touch in all areas.its bit by bit.u think its easy.He is not God who touches everywhere at the sametime,he is a human being like u pipo.appreciate wat is doing that’s all.u pipo are behaving like soccer fans who says he would have done this and that to score,bt u don’t knw hw its hard to do it,if u where in the pich.Don’t blame others on wat u even knw that its hard to do it,because next time it would be u.DO UNTO OTHERS……

    • I understand your point. But my friend, there are human beings on this earth who are presidents and running countries as big as Africa and still do a clean job of it. Stop making excuses for him. We didn’t hear him tell us that we were voting for him at our own risk because he will not be able to run the country efficiently at the time he was making election campaign promises in 2011. Things have since gotten worse since October 2011, and people are becoming restless, it is their country and they are worried.

    • It is true that the office of president is a difficult one to run but that does not including threatening people in order to get votes. Have you ever heard Obama say that there will be no development in the States that voted republican? Prior to the 2011 elections, what development did he take to the areas that voted for him? He was in opposition for 10 years. The problem with our old man is that he knows not when to say things aloud and when not too.

  13. POLITICS OF PARADING CHIEFS TO GET SUPPORT OF THEIR SUBJECTS NO LONGER WORK BA SATA. THAT’S OLD POLITICS.
YOUTHS OF NOWADAYS DO NOT KNOW WHO A CHIEF IS. SO, A CHIEF CANNOT DO ANY INFLUENCE FOR YOU. THOSE CHIEFS ARE JUST DOING YOU A “KA DONCHI KUBEBA”.

    • In Southern Province chiefs do not command a lot of influence on their subjects. So Sata is just wasting his time in Western Province. Munkombwe was Southern province minister in 2011 and MMD lost miserably. The same is going to happen to PF in 2016.

  14. I just have a gut feeling that Chiefs no longer influence how people vote. Choppers, Pajeros, Royal barges etc will excite people but it seems they won’t change their minds on how to vote. If what happened in Lukulu West and the small margin by which PF won in Kapri, is anything to go by, then Sata has to change tactics. Let PF cease this syndrome of “give us an MP so that we develop your area”. Rather let them say, “these are the works we ve done, so vote for us”. Munkombwe used their outdated method in UNIP and MMD and the parties lost. And please Monde and Mwaliteta aren’t Tonga. The only Tongas are Munkombwe and Siamunene. Simusaa may be Tonga but he wasn’t picked because of that. Ministers must come from outside Parliament. MPs are a mess!

  15. “Sebahana unope mba”. Munkombwe has elevated this well known saying to another level. In the end, his stomach will burst and embarrass him and all those closely associated with him.

  16. Zambia has a mad kantemba president who knows not how to govern. He still thinks he is in the opposition.Such a bore and a waste of taxpayers votes.

  17. His inciting people in southern Province which is likely to cause of bleach of piece.
The particular of the case is that on unknown time, but between the 21 and 23 april 2013, while on attending celebrations in said Province, he said developing can only if you give me MPs with a full knowledge that MPs were for a particular Party. The use of Term only developed can come, is not only bleach of piece, but also attempting to entice people to rise against their leaders who eventually lose incomes. The Govt will also loose money to conduct by elections. This cause confusion in other parties
Above his one causing By-elections in the country. What is the office. NCHITO.

  18. CHASEFU CONSTITUENCY has nevered voted for ruling party since 1991. 1991 to 1996 UNIP, 1996- date FDD Chifumu Banda. But roads are being grade, THERE IS NEW VILLAGE LIABRY.

  19. Sata went to their ‘country’ read their comments.U can vividly see how their small hearts re pumping.Easy chaps b 4 u collupse with bp!U have bin opposing everything pf say and do .U’ve met him. A Mr tell it o. No beating about the bush.ke,ke,…

    • Sata is the President of Zambia and he should start behaving and acting like one. He is not the President of PF only. When are you monkeys going to start behaving like civilized beings?

  20. I am just from my archieve .It is in that region at one of the ceremonies the late ,Levy (mirp)said,’For upnd to be in state house was like battocks going in front.’ lol! l am yet to c dat. Though de party may go 1 day but not with HH.let pf work !

  21. Nosence. He doesn’t even understand that he is state president. 2 years into the presidency and he still thinks he is an opposition president. God save us.

  22. Nosence. He doesn’t even understand that he is state president. 2 years into the presidency and he still thinks he is an opposition part president only. God save us.

  23. Nosence. He doesn’t even understand that he is state president. 2 years into the presidency and he still thinks he is an opposition party president only. God save us.

  24. you will not have any more mps from the mighty southern province pf.you are indeed a party for bembas.go to hell with your non existent development. The 10 ministers from southern province you made reference to are feeding their families and not the people of southern province.

  25. This statement is ludicrous, embarrassing and very unpresidential. Those who said this man is not presidential material were right. The diplomats in Zambia must be enjoying this comedy. He does even know what he is talking about when he says Southen Province can feed the whole of Africa and beyond. Is this man sleep-walking?

  26. who are those fools paraded there as chiefs? that’s luck of respect for their chiefdom and themselves, you will never see Chief Ishindi, mwata kazembe, chitimukulu being paraded like *****s in front of cameras like that

  27. Country men and women.I was personally there during this talked about cerebration. When Sata stood to address the crowd,i tell u it was very disappointing because people expected him either to talk about tarring Muyobe Chinkanta road or connecting Chief Chikanta to the nation power grid, he instead started saying that it is only when people of Chikanta accept PF that development will be realized in Chief Chikanta’ area or indeed any other part of southern province. This is the kind of president we are dealing with.Gentlemen lets accept the fact that our president is naive. How dare would the president say that Chikanta will not benefit from nation cake when all Zambians pay taxes.

  28. Zyiyanga , zyifuba fuba zyidaala azyicembele zyili muchfwanikiso omu, stupid poverty stricken chiefs, and bitch Mwenda of Chikankata

  29. Do we really have a president in this country? What i expected to hear from him is to tell people what plans he has, not elections. Please, you advisers, tell him to forget about elections and let him begin working. People will love him whether Tonga or not

  30. This is clearly a misdirected campaign strategy. You do not gain votes by blackmailing your prospective voters. The prudent thing to do instead is to give them the development then use that as proof that you are worth their vote in 2016. This is UNIP era politics that has not room in today’s Zambia.

  31. So are taxes collected on basis of whether one voted for PF or not? The people in those regions you are denying development also pay taxes like everyone else. Money in the treasury is not segregated on basis of the party the contributor voted for. This old man clearly has nothing more to offer Zambia other than his usual rhetoric. He should be a “Father of the Nation” rather than a “Bully of the Nation.”
