Youths from the ruling PF held a street demonstration in Lusaka against Catholic Priest Fr. Frank Bwalya for allegedly insulting Michael Sata.

Youths led by their provincial leadership have since challenged the outspoken clergyman to come out in the open and state his true political ambitions.

Fr. Bwalya has fallen out grace with the PF government after he criticized its style of governance following his resignation as ZESCO Board Chairman.

But PF Lusaka Province Vice Youth Chairman Daniel Kalembe Fr. Bwalya should come out and organise a rally in Lusaka to prove his popularity.

“This man is deceiving himself that he is popular. The truth is that Fr. Bwalya’s red card campaign was only successful because it rode on the PF’s popularity during campaigns for the 2011 general elections,” Mr. Kalembe said.
[pullquote]“As youths we helped organise the red card campaign, we used our structures and today he wants to turn around and insult our President.”[/pullquote]

“As youths we helped organise the red card campaign, we used our structures and today he wants to turn around and insult our President.”

“Those crowds he saw were PF crowds,” he stated.

And PF Lusaka Province Youth Information and Publicity Secretary Stanley Chiumya vowed that youths in the party will not sit and watch Fr. Bwalya insult the party leadership.

“We are watching him and will follow him up wherever he sleeps,” warned Mr. Chiumya.

“This disgraced Priest should call for a public rally here in Lusaka and see how many people will turn up.”

During a live interview on Sunday on Muvi TV’s Assignment Programme, Fr. Bwalya said he could govern better than President Sata whom he accused of running the country without involving his colleagues.

    • Fr. Bwalya never insulted Sata at all. Of cause he can make a better president than Sata, but he didn’t say Zambians can vote for him. He was just honest.

    • FR Bwalya is being honest, sincere and patriotic to the country in general and PF govt in particular.

He has not insulted or disrespected President Sata or any leader but just constructively criticized their style of governance. He has done what is expected of everyone with a heart for the country.

The reason for demonstration by PF youths is hollow and proves ineptness in govt. Let them demonstrate about unemployment, loadsheding, poor health, water, sanitation & education, poor roads, etc even dirtiness

It will be a disservice to our nation to sing praise songs even in the face of govt failure to deliver and mediocrity.

Leave Fr Bwalya and all other citizens to openly and freely express their opinions as enshrined in our supreme law (constitution) of the land

    • FR. BWALYA IS A ZAMBIAN WHO, LIKE ANY OTHER ZAMBIAN, IS FREE TO EXPRESS HIMSELF WITHOUT ANY FEAR OF REPRISAL OR INTIMIDATION. AND IF HE’S NOT POPULAR WHY ARE YOU PROTESTING AGAINST HIS STATEMENTS? MALOVA IMWE, YOU SHOULD ACTUALLY BE PROTESTING AGAINST THE PF FOR FAILING TO GIVE YOU JOBS THAT THEY PROMISED TO CREATE…!!!

  1. This priest Bwalya is indeed a pathetic failure. PF gorvenment gave him a great responsiblity at Zesco, and what happens? The chap fails to perform. And next he considers himself presidential material. Iwe ka Bwalya, behave yourself. Too much ibange!

    • Do you really know what you’re blogging about.

What father Frank Bwalya the MD for Zesco or board chairman???

  2. So when did these people apply for a permit, if they even did? This reminds me of George Orwell’s “Animal Farm.” Zambia Police are a disgrace to the nation.

    • Very Very Very Good Question my friend. When did they apply for the permit. Can the Police provide evidence to us that they sanctioned this gathering and the public order Act was not broken.

This we definitely need to know. As far as I know, there was no information that PF youths had applied for a permit to hold a public demonstration against father Bwalya. Can Minister Lungu or Inspector General of Police issue a statement on this.

    • This is a government that started out in coasting mode and now when the uphill appears they have no gears to engage to scale it. The contradictions in governance are now so glaring it is not funny anymore.

  3. Is it criminal for Fr. Frank Bwalya to criticize PF or indeed to harbor ambitions of national leadership when the republican constitution allows him?

  4. Its such kitchen sink politics of mob psychology and double standards that have accelerated the death of PF than winning hearts of the Zambian masses.

    • Fr. Bwalya is intelligent and indeed can make a better president, but PF please remove street vendors, towns are in such a mess.

  5. very interesting just a year and half ago fr bwalya was a hero to day he is bad wat kind of insult did fr bwalya alter at the programe one thing is now clear when u remined this government of there failures then u are insulting.go on father bwalya sata thought he will bribe all we are waiting for your retreat we are going to stand with u this government has failed just look at yesterdays speech at the labourday celebrations it lucked direction it was all comedy.did sata ever attened any public occession for him to blem mumba and hh.he has failed

  6. You created Bwalya and gave him chickens to slaughter on your platforms. Now the monster you created and empowered has come back to hound and haunt you. And now you scream foul, allowed by a partisan belligerent Police Force. Keep quiet!

  7. This PF government is indeed pathetic. They should provide evidence to show that Fr. Bwalya insulted the President. Is comparison an insult?

  8. Youths, Bwalya is speaking for you and you insult him. You are being misled. Come to your senses youths. Can’t you see things going wrong or you r corrupted.

  9. Lets be honest Fr Bwalya would be more effective as an opposition leader than the two mailoni brothers, he’s sensed the vacuum hence his move. I can imagine HH and his brainless cadres are all over him offering him all manner of positions in their regional party but am sure he’s smart enough not accept their ill gotten money and useless party portfolios. By the way Catholics, isn’t he supposed to drop the ‘Father’ title now that he’s entered politics proper?

    • Priests are in all manner of portfolios all around the world. Unlike other church establishments, most Catholic priests are trained professionals and in most instances are encouraged to participate in societal activities that champion social justice.

  10. VIVA Father Bwalya. you PF *****s dont know what is good for you. The fuel hike, electricity hike and water hikes are now strangling you. u cant be spared my dear

and you thought u have a president

  11. Its is all good people, this is the only noticeable work that PF can do is hire and fire then persecute citizens.

Fr Bwalya is a citizen and as such has the right (DUTY) to talk about the government of the day, which WE put in power, and can remove is WE so chose.
Any citizen also has the right to seek presidency.
    What is the problem?

What we need to do is to keep watch and vote wisely in 2016.

  12. We thought with the coming of a new govt we will have clean politics. I’m disappointed…..we deserve better from the youth leadership.

  13. Democracy must prevail and we must support freedom of speech if Zambia is to develop politically. Let people voice out without himdrance so that their missions get known. At this point in time we can not say MCS is the best leader Zambia has produced and that nobody will or can perform better than him. Based on what has transpired so far, Fr Bwalya has been able to prperly utilize the sense of sight and hearing to come up with deductive reasoning that has agitated youths of the leading party. Whatever he saw and heard in the short period of engagement at ZESCO, is good enough to arrive at a reasonable conclusion on matters of concern. Let’s see what happens next.

  14. Who gave these PF thugs permit to demonstrate? if it was MMD or UPND we would have known that they are seeking permission to demonstrate, i have always supported PF but it seems they are too much now! watch out ba PF mwaya sana!!!!!

  15. Pls. if we dont get apology to Zambian public & Father Bwalya from Senior PF official for that unruly behavior then PF is doomed.

That kind of behaviour cannot be condoned. This is 21st century, we all have to speak our minds, wether as clergy, engineer, marketeer….!!!

  16. All over a sudden, he has become a bad person in the eyes of PF. These people are a fraud and evil. Nothing good comes out of them. Where did they get the permit to demonstrate? What an evil government we have! GOD is greater than the PF and evil will be crashed

  17. Imbushi shilemeta meee.. meee… Go wash up in dams, pathetic representation of leadership in power. How was this public nuisance allowed parambulating. Order and government is alien to PF membership.

  18. I would vote for Fr. Bwalya instead Mr. Sata. Fr. Bwalya please red card him. He has failed us a as President. All he does is talk about opposition leaders and poaches opposition MPs. In addition, he talks about people’s difficulties. One wonders as the President should he be giving solutions rather than talking about them??? That is Micheal has ever done is talk and talk. We want practical solutions, no more talking please Mr. President especially about Nevers or HH

  19. Why is are comments always waiting for moderation Lusakatimes?? Its not fair. I want them posted.

  21. I would vote for Fr. Bwalya instead Mr. Sata. Fr. Bwalya please red card him. He has failed us a as President. All he does is talk about opposition leaders and poaches opposition MPs. 22. These are not PF youths naimwe, they are Wynter’s youths! sponsored with chibuku shakeshake!

  23. again am embarrassed by my pf govt.
who authorised that demo in the first place?
and what insults did fr bwalya utter against our presido?
do we really have political analysers who can advise our party on whats good or bad at a given time.
you hike water rates, fuel prices and are in the process of hiking electricity rates and when one questions your style of governance, you call him all sorts of names.
mind you all and sundry know what role the father played in ushering you into office.
lets be very careful with the way we react to these criticisms.

    • @mature…
your party has been hijack, you have welcome alot of very bad eggs.. rotten!! now those eggs are breaking out their ideas , their ideas are smelling very bad!!!

    • ndobo,
      maybe you are right.
how else can one explain this rampant disregard of the law…..
      vyakulolavye….

  24. Father Bwalya was very rude in 2011. So was Given Lubinda.

Today Nick brushed his teeth. At least his breath is not smelling smoke and onion today. It’s getting warmer here in Glasgow and Nick finally took a shower. He’s crazy, but I’m crazy in love with him!!!

    Thanks.

    • Mushota what is your problem kanshi. That is why u attract criticism cause u bring in Nick in important issues. So he has bad breath and rarely showers??? Gooowiiii!!!!

  25. Why are Zambians so hyper sensitive to criticism? Why are we so easily offended and mistake criticism for insulting?

  26. Father Bwalya is popular and he doesnt need a political rally to prove that coz he has held them before.!!! Tell them Father Bwalya I know u are not a coward….
    Wooooooooo ba PF wooooooooooooollllllll!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  27. The so-called Zambian youths (mind you some of them are grandfathers) need a lot of sympathy, they allow themselves to be used by fat politicians who turn them into mops to do the dirty job. Instead of demanding the jobs they were promised they engage in worthless demonstrations while their masters have egg and bacon and three square meals per day, good luck to them.

    • The London Eye, well said. As long as these politicians continue using the poor youths, our people will only experience development in their dreams. it is sad that we cannot speak freely if a party in power is doing some things wrong. Will we ever reach high levels of political maturity and begin to address issues that are important to us?

  28. Under normal circumstance, these works are either supposed to be at work or doing something productive than being paraded by OLD RUGS.

Wake up guys and start being productive not only to feed yourselves but for the future of your families and friends.

  29. Under normal circumstances, these youths are either supposed to be at work or doing something productive than being paraded by OLD RUGS. We need all old rugs out from the next election onwards.

Wake up guys and start being productive not only to feed yourselves but for the future of your families and friends.

  30. Father Bwalya pliz dont end up like Nevers Mumba he thought he was very popular and left his calling (Victory ministries) you can advise from the church and not running for presidency leave the dirty game for politicians i am Catholic but i respect JWs stance on politics lets await for our time when the lord comes let them supress us they will answer to him as a reminder he said the poor you shall be with forever and that the even the little that we get will be taken away from us.

  31. The PF youths misdirected themselves because they were demonstrating on a matter that never transpired. Fr Bwalya did not insult anyone; all he did was point out the mistakes this pathetic government has made and continued making. As a matter of interest, can Sillyman Jelly and Stella Libongani tell us whether the thugs applied for a Police permit. Or maybe there are exceptions to the rule when it comes to the application of the dreaded Public Order Act? These are the double standards we have kept on talking about and the fools in the police service have continued to ignore that the people of Zambia deserve better. I just want to warn the police command that if they continue behaving in this manner, they will have to justify their behaviour to the people of Zambia someday.

  32. Those cricising police are not zambians. Honestly, how can the police fight a ruling party? it is not possible because the ruling party controls the police though not publicly. As a policeman, i will not attempt to arrest pf cadres for fear of my boss who fears the ig who fears the president who is a pf and fears no one and can fire anyone.
So if it is the ruling party, whether mmd, unip, pf or upnd, we turn elsewhere. If you are the oppositon, even if you are right, we harrass u period

    • Za Chisoni, that is the same attitude that will prevent Zambia and Zambians becoming politically mature and independent. It is such opinions that lend credence to the foolishness that goes on in the country.

    • This is very true. Fr Bwalya did not insult anyone at all. They say the truth hurts and Fr Bwalya pointed out the mistakes made by the PF government, and since it was the truth, the PF thugs were organised to go and protest we don’t know by who. In any case, Fr Bwalya is a Zambian like anybody else and is entitled to his opinion. Just because he supported PF does not mean he cannot criticise the thuggery in PF if he sees it. And now since the PF mismanagement of the economy has been laid bare by themselves, anyone is able to see what is going on. It is in the public domain and you can’t stop people from commenting.

  33. We would like to know whether the PF thugs that demonstrated on Wednesday had a police permit because Mr Elias Chipimo Jr has just been arrested in Kitwe some hours ago for holding an in-door consultative meeting with his party members. What is happening in this country? Is the police professional or just instructed by fellow PF thugs on what to do?

  34. You guys the PF govt is doing what it can..its just that the people arround SATA are not good workers but sata is…and another problem is that sata also do not take people’s advice.
For sure these guys are implementing good projects and they are building a better Zambia dont be deceived.AM only concerned with theb increase of needs and wants.in a lay mans language Food, water,electricity,fueletc…..

    • The two points you have identified means that the PF Govt is incompetent by any imagination. You should also note that the projects that are currently being implemented are MMD projects. hydro power, roads etc.

  35. Destine is un predictable.. bwana Kalembe, nothing is permanent and your views do not necessalirly reflect peoples views. Fr Bwalya has the right to speak his mind.

  36. frm wat ve sen frm PF since Fr. Bwalya resignd frm Zesco, PF Z VERY VERY VERY scared of hm. i thnk we ned sch pipo 2 provid chcks & balances 2 de PF…

  37. Father bwalya is a good person, I thought PF were sensible enough to give criticism a chance what kind of pipo are these, The country can not be ran with those thugs

  38. ooopps these cadres don’t use their brains.Father Bwalya is popular.I also don’t agree with some PF policies.I really love PF but the party is failing.Better we listen to a person who is honest than these cadres who want money.I’m a strong supporter of Ba Sata but it seems Kabimba is using Ba kateka. The man lacks substance. I think GBM is better than Kabimba’.Father Bwalya was insulted, arrested coz of campaigning 4 PF and why insulting him now?Let us be thankful as a party.Relax cadres!!People have started losing hope in our party. We need to listen and start thinking otherwise things are not good. The party can lose in 2016 if not careful. If Sata fails, CB,Luapula,Northen,Muchinga,Central, southern and Lusaka will soon find a replacement 4 PF.Watch out with Catholics!!!I love Fr…

  39. Pass vote of no confidence and we have By-elections to same of the leaders. They are inciting and violating the law of land. RB is charged for the same. let them also be charged. MPs dissolves yourselves, you are toothless? and we go back voting. if not we start all over again.

  40. PF youths, you very useless. How much is fuel today? How many deputy ministers are in this so called pf government. The money they give you will not take you anywhere. Come 2016, wina azalila.

  41. The problem with PF is that every criticism about anything is an insult. They want people to be praising even where praise is not due.

  42. Zambians do not think about long term. They just think of short term. Here is a t shirt now you can go and demonstrate. Here is chibbuku go and demonstrate. What about jobs.

  43. Doesn’t someone have a right to criticise the rulers without scaring them into thinking he will get the throne? PF youths stop messing up the already messed up streets with mindless puppet demonstrations. This looks like it was organised by Minister of PF Propaganda Hon Fred M’membe.
