ZAMBIA coach Herve Renard says the Chipolopolo will not give up the fight of qualifying for the 2014 Brazil World Cup finals.

Renard said at a press briefing at Ndola’s Levy Mwanawasa Stadium yesterday that the 1-1 draw with Sudan is frustrating.

He said Zambia will go to Ghana to fight for an outright win to ensure qualification to the last round.

“We didn’t put enough pressure on Sudan the way we did on Lesotho in our previous qualifier. We are very frustrated by this draw. We just need to win in Ghana,” Renard said.

He said Zambians will be cheering Lesotho today when they take on Ghana.

“We hope Lesotho can play like Sudan tomorrow [today]against Ghana,” Renard said.

Zambia skipper Christopher Katongo said the Chipolopolo did not play well in the first half but improved in the second stanza.

Katongo saluted fans for supporting the team and promised not to disappoint them in the last match against Ghana in Kumasi on September 8.

Sudan coach Mohamed ‘Mazda’ Abdullah said he was happy with the result.

“This is a fair result for us,” Abdalla said.

He said his team did not come to Zambia to aid Ghana to qualify to the last round but expose new players to international football.

Sudan captain Sail Idris said the match was tough.

Meanwhile, Football Association of Zambia president Kalusha Bwalya is confident the Chipolopolo will qualify to the last round. Kalusha said Ghana will fall in front of their fans.

“I am confident that we will go through to the next round. We will go to Ghana to beat them,” he said. He described the game against Sudan as tough.

Kalusha said there is no need for Zambians to worry ahead of the match against Ghana. The 1988 African-footballer-of-the-year said everything is possible in football.

Minister of Sport and Youth Chishimba Kambwili said Zambia played well but lucky was not on their side. “The game was okay but I don’t know where we went wrong,” Kambwili said.

Zambia striker Jacob Mulenga said the game was tough-adding that he has already shifted attention to the match against Ghana.

Mulenga said Zambia has a chance to salvage victory in their crucial match against the Black Stars. “My focus now is on our next game against Ghana. It won’t be easy there but our chances of qualifying for the World Cup are still bright,” said the Netherlands-based forward.

Another striker Collins ‘King David’ Mbesuma said the draw against Sudan is disappointing. Mbesuma said they did not expect Sudan to hold them at home.

“We need to prepare adequately for our next game against Ghana. We’ll go to Ghana to prove ourselves that we are a better team by winning. We have beaten Ghana before so they are not a threat to us,” Mbesuma said.

In the last one year, Zambia has beaten Ghana twice – winning 1-0 apiece in the semi-finals at the 2012 Africa Cup of Nations and in the 2014 Brazil World Cup qualifying race.

Chipolopolo Soccer Fans Association chairman Yotam Mwanza described the draw as frustrating. Mwanza, however, remained hopeful that the Chipolopolo will deliver a desired result in Kumasi.

He said fans are hoping that Lesotho defies the football hierarchy today by beating Ghana. “We are hoping that Lesotho will do us a favour by drawing or beating Ghana. That will at least put us in a better position as we look forward to our next match,” Mwanza said.

Zambia lead Group D with 11 points, two better than Ghana. Sudan and Lesotho have two points apiece.

  1. Each time we Mess up we immediately look forward to the next this or that, let all involved analyses the Sudan Game and draw lessons from it. i for one am always not comfortable with current coach as he lacks Strategy in most Games. i also think FAZ doesnt put much pressure on this Frenchman.

    • First half the team were walking around like beauty queens. As a result they were under pressure in the second half to deliver. When they eventually delivered, the celebration was unnecessarily excessive. The Sudanese know that excessive celebration is a critically weak point and capitalised scoring within 2 minutes of that premature celebration.

The coach should know that the weakest point in any game is immediately after they score and should have advise players against excessive celebration and focus on the game until the very final whistle.

We lost because of weak coaching skills. However, Renard knows the Ghanaians well having coached there, so maybe they is still some hope for us even if Ghana whallop Lesotho on home soil.

    • The coach should have been fired after Afcon. Infact analysts even asked Harve Renard if Faz was going to fire him. He answered no as if he was the employer. Ghana will be a tough customer. Psycologically zambia has to prepare. Play as if its last game of their life.

  2. Training is not just about pitch work, it should include a Lecture room with high Tech computer based tools where each player’s moves can be reviewed and best options availed. This will help our boys adjusting their moves whilst playing to achieve a better result. Not just you should be feeding into this player even when he cant score.

    • Agreed. The coaching staff should spend time reviewing the tapes of previous games and also Ghana’s games in order to formulate a strategy. It’s not just a matter of throwing in strikers and hoping for them to score goals against Ghana. The right strikers that can break down Ghana’s defence have to be sought.

    • Your boys are too dull for that high tech bull sh.i.t! l had already analysed the game before it was played and Lord and behold came out exactly the way l said it before the game! So why now put yourselves under such unnecessary pressure and on an away game and guess with who… you must be joking! This is an excercise in futility, best to just surrender the game and give chance to more deserving and more serious teams, bunch of commedians….

  3. THIS MAN SAID HE WII SURPRISE YOU PEOPLE. HE SURPRISES YOU INDEED. ZAMBIAN FOOTBALL////////////PF IS FAILING EVERYWHERE

  4. not all hope is lost. it will even be a sweeter victory if we win in Ghana. Mind u we’v been beating them of late. with hard work, anything is possible. keep up the spirits

    • PLEASE COME AND BEAT US. INDEED YOU HAVE BEEN BEATING US. WE HAVE FINISHED LESOTHO OUR NEXT FOCUS IS YOU. ONE MATCH AT A TIME. WE WERE NOT FOCUSING ON YOU BUT ONE MATCH AT A TIME AND WE ARE ON COURSE. LET YOUR HEAD SWELL BIG AND COME TO GHANA. WE ARE PATIENTLY WAITING FOR YOU DO NOT WORRY.

    • Silly man in his frustration pauses, thinks and his best solution is that we give up and throw in the towel Lol !! A very silly man indeed

  5. The truth is simple, the black stars want to punish Zambia because they are still hurting after the defeat they suffered during 2012 Africa cup. They blame us for denting their hopes of winning the cup just like the Ivorians do…but Ghana wants us more than Ivory coast because they didn’t even make the final…so a bloodbath awaits the Chipolopolo come September. The 1 nil inflicted on them in Ndola just made us number 1 on their list of most wanted teams. A draw will not be enough for Ghana. So it didn’t matter if we want to Ghana with a point ahead or a point behind because Ghana will not play for a draw or allow us to play for a draw if they don’t win in Lesotho. To make the world cup…we have to get used beating teams like Ghana and its not mission impossible..punch 4 punch..

    • Agreed! Punch for punch, boys! You have all of Zambia and the diaspora cheering you on. What more can you ask for in this tournament than to go to the last game needing a win to move on? You’ve done all you need to up to this point, now go to Kumasi and show the world that Chipolopolo deserves to be here! Iyee, chipolopolo!

  6. JAYJAY..zambia is just slightly better than england but are the same mentaly. England is the least impressive team on earth as it plays football in the british media and its surrogate supersport. England is full of overrated players who cant feature in any of top teams in europe. All top four teams coached, owned by foreigners. the british media gets so excited when clubs buy foreign players instead of youth development. England can never win world cup.

  7. I sure hope zambia lose to Ghana. With all the billions of minutes wasted by zambians watching EPL you’d think zambia is going places but nada.Had we spent the same amount of time and passion into entrepreneurism maybe we’d have our own “Ethio-airlines” our own “Safaricom” or our own “ABSA’ and all the forexxxxx and employment they bring.

    • Spot on. The way Zambians support EPL is very retrogressive. What do we gain from that apart from enriching super sport and all those clubs. Yes, I do watch uefa here and there but supporting them,no. Lets develop our own teams. Lets direct our money to local clubs. Print and buy Nkana, Warriors etc T- Shirts. China are doing the same and are now building stadiums for us.

  8. Ren naba Kalu tell us what went wrong with you and your player. You were in the camp for over 10 days training hard for the two games but look at your performance too bad, could it be the players were not paid handsomely becuase of the PF budget overrun or Rena is now showing his true colours that he cannot read the game. You have gone to the extent of distroying the future of players like Chisamba and Mayuka cause of misplacing them in their roles.

  9. WITH A MONTHLY SALARY OF 0.5 BILLION, WE STILL LOSS POINTS SUDAN.
THE COACH NEEDS TO BE SERIOUS. WE PAY A LOT OF MONEY.

    • Spot on….if he was a black Zambian Clive Chriwa he would have been sacked a long time ago. I wouldn’t be surprised to find out that the great King was getting a cut from HR hefty wages hence the reason he has stayed on.

  10. All the commentators in the report above may have spoken something else if they used their mother tongue.

Zambia beating Ghana in Kumasi or Accra + 40,000 Ghanaian fans, impossible!

  11. There will be no surprise. Zambia is out. Failing to utilize the home is the sign that they wont utilize the pitch they dont know. Am just waiting for 8th september to see the coach resigning, as he said, he’ll resign when Zambia fails to qualify for world cup.

  12. simple fact, zambia was never a contender in the first place, we were served manner from haven of 3 points and goals to become one. just like i said before this game of sudan; ZAMBIA IS NEVER GOING TO THE WORLD CUP, am saying it again not that i hate chipolopolo but am just being real having seen the game ghana is displaying. its ok to dream, but just how real are your dreams bane?

  13. It’s time our players stopped talking too much, including the FAZ president each time they do badly they promise heaven and earth in the next game only to end up worse. Since AFCON 2013 promises have been the order of the day with no tangible results.
I think the technical team lack technics on how to approach different games, because as far as i can see we have good players who if properly coached can easily deliver. And please STOP each time you write about Kalusha to refer to his past exploits it only makes him big headed not to perform.

    • Exactly… what our docile gullible fans do not relies is that Kalu their great mighty King is also an overrated bum who is also out of his depth in administration and in it for his own self serving interests. The docile fans are not critical of those empty suits in Football House; everyone was too hangover to remember about the ticket sale accusation after the Lesotho win. People seem to assume that the great mighty King is doing them a favour how laughable indeed by the time the wake up he will be the richest man in Africa and sitting on FIFA board far away in Zurich.

  14. Well, well my African brothers and sisters in Zambia, please forget about your dream to Brazil and start reorganising your team because Ghana has already qualified in advance before you will meet us in September. You have thrown your chance yesterday. You could have force a draw with us and qualify but as it stands now to beat us in Kumasi in front our inspiring fans there, looks like it will have been easy for the Nile to reverse its direction than you beating us the third time in a row. FORGET

  15. You can’t help but… with 20/20 hindsight, go back and say, “Look, had we done something different, we probably wouldn’t be facing what we are facing today.” then again how many times have we heard this from this very average coach Renard, the moment he said he will keep faith with team that played Lesotho spoke volumes about what he thought about his opponents. Remember he had 8 months to prep for this specific match. Sudan is not a pub team like Lesotho in fact Sudan is one of three oldest team in Africa up there with Egypt and Ethiopia hence deserve to be respected. Any wise opposition coach on hearing this would know what to do and that is slow the game down and capitalise on dead balls.
Fact is Zambia is NOT WORTHY to go to Brazil not with this manager and the empty suits at…

  16. mouth mouth no good. Zambian Soccer fans talk too much. So this k.k 11 can beat The Almighty GHANA in GHANA? DREAMING.

  17. Zambia should play the following line up if there are to win against Ghana
    Goalkeeper-Kennedy Mweene
Defenders – Mbola, Mtonga, Hichani and Nkausu
Midfielders – Sunzu (defensive midfielder), Kalaba, Mukuka Mulenga, and Chisamba Lungu
Upfront – Mbesuma and J Mulenga

Fwayo, to come in for Kalaba

    • Hey ther only supposed to be 11 players on the pitch but you have 12. Is this going to be soccer?

The answer will be the same se big since we will be disqualified for using 12 players on the pitch.

  18. Zambia should play the following line up if there are to win against Ghana
    Goalkeeper-Kennedy Mweene
Defenders – Mbola, Mtonga, Hichani and Nkausu
Midfielders – Sunzu (defensive midfielder), Kalaba, Mukuka Mulenga, and Chisamba Lungu
Upfront – Mbesuma and J Mulenga

Fwayo, to come in for Kalaba

  19. We r going to whip Lesotho and wait for u zombies in Kumasi. It will be a tragedy if u zombies represents Africa in Brazil. Ghana for life

    • just wait and see how when we come to your so called ”KUMASI” and strip naked and expose your BLACK SKINS in the presence of your fans..And am damn sure ABEDI PELE and his entire team will be ashamed FOOOORRRRREEEEEEVVVVEEEERRRR!!!Ghana had there time in 2010 when your might gyan missed a winning penalty and now your small gods are angry with u as evidenced from the two previous AFCONS.LAST MINUTES ARE ALWAYS DANGEROUS.Just a friendly warning,”BEWARE OF THE COPPER BULLETS”. GO MIGHT ZAMBIA GO!!!

    • Why don’t u focus on ghanaian websites? Whom are you trying to demotivate here? Us fans? We don’t play And our Mbesuma doesn’t read so prepare to face that mighty beast.

  20. To be precise,Renard has never impressed me as a coach.Remember the Chipolopolo is where it is because of the free points they got from Sudan and even the AFCON championship was a fluke.

  21. In my opinion our players are not seriuos. The biggest problem is attitude towards thier work. They just do not seem to have the ‘desire to win attitude”. take for instance Man United ,even if they are outplayed they will mostly come ot with a win because of their collective desire to win attitude.
That said , l wish to state that this Zambian Team broke many people ‘s hearts and that has a negative effect on production and business.
Perhaps we need to face up and acknowlegde that our team is not world cup material yet and that Ghana could better represent Africa than Zambia at the World Cup

  22. Lesotho and Sudan are the barometer in the group that measure the relative strengths of the top two teams in the group. So far, going by the results of playing the barometer teams both at home and away seems to indicate that Ghana is the stronger team in the group and Zambia the lucky free-rider! While Zambia may lung it out in Kumasi, the team has lacked consistency so far. What this means is that the strength of the Zambian team is more in our heads than in the team per se. We need to accept reality.

  23. lol, really! this failing Zambian team think they can win in Kumasi? lol
Wake up from that dream. IT IS NOT GOING TO HAPPEN. Next time learn to take your destiny in your own hands.

  24. Actually am really thankful to GOD for having drawn from yesterdays game which means that we will go to Ghana with only one objective and that is to WIN. And to every one of you that think that we are going nowhere, just wait and see what really God can do for this team. True fans never drop there flags no matter what. IIYEE CHIPOLOPOLO IIYEE!!! Ba GHANA nangu mu winner Lesotho loleleni mukamone ifyo tukamicita..tukamingisha fye kamo just like always!!!

    • You think God is Zambian? When the Sudanese camp were discussing football you people were locked-in Church praying to the heavens!hehehe

    • Timothy everytime we pray for victory against the Arabs or moslems we ve ended up losing. God is an Arab?

  25. please its high time the coach was fired he has out lived his usefulness we were champions and lost to everyone we tried to play with winning was by chance a sad situation indeed ghana is stronger than any of lesutho or sudan how can we dream of winning ghana just fire the coach and start afreesh we cant have any chance to world cup never save taxpayers money twapapata

  26. Coach should lead the game, how come he has stopped being on the line, and please stop believing in white shirt without analysing the game. If Fwayo Tembo started that game with Mayuka, they could have won, drop Katongo and chivuto

  27. don’t worry,we are not going to repay you with the hostility you inflicted on us in Zambia,,,our hospitality is our pride,we will make you feel at home, but trust me at the end of the day Zambia will fall in Kumasi,we have been waiting for it for a long time.”a child does not say to his father this is where we used to live”

  28. Zambia will continue the 1-0 project over ghana. So far theyz been no upsets in the qualifiers but wait till the 7 th of september, people in that town called kumasi will be having their heads wrapped in their hands wailing uncontrollably wishing the match can be re-winded.

  29. Can someone tell Kalusha to shut up! If he wants us to believe his words then he should add the following condition;
If Zambia fails to beat Ghana in Kumasi:
    1. Renard will be fired on the spot.
    2. Kalusha and his FAZ executive will resign

  30. Football is just a game and let us not be so personal about the draw Zambia picked at home. Remember not long ago, when they won the Africa Cup, we called them all sorts of good names and we never wanted to hear anyone say a bad thing about the team, why call for their ‘Blood’ today. Anyone can mess up life at times in life. The only thing we can do is to give advise on ideas which can help the team to qualify for 2014 world cup.

  31. The pitch at lm stadium was awfull,,,blame it on chinese as usual..everything wrong is chinese…again the pictures on znbc was pathetic,,BLAME IT CHINESE>>>

  32. OK…I had said….People should stop ukusabaila. Zambia is going to the World Cup.
Right now Ghana is sick. We have a good team and like #32 PHIL has put it, its just a game. No need for insults.

Renard and Chipolopolo please remember me when in Brazil. I am with you all the Way. GO CHIIPOLOPOLO GO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  33. The coach is now day dreaming. You fail to win a weaker team behind your back yard and you think you can win a stronger team away. What nonsense is he talking about?

    • Mr Soccer fan. If you are worth your salt then you know that it always happens in soccer that the big teams loose to smaller teams sometimes. Zambia is beating Ghana is kumasi and on any day id much rather accept defeat after a game not before . Thats a looser mentality

  34. You Zambians tickle me. Come to Kumasi and win? Okay oo. You are even in this position because you were gifted 3 points from the Sudan game. If Sudan had not been so stupid as to filed an ineligble player then we would have secured qualifaication by now. Justice is about to be served. Every Ghanaian has been waiting for this match for ages and we will teach you that Form is Tempoarry but Class is permanent

  35. Hahahah zambia,is betta u stay in ya country, cos wif now got our full players in custody, guess u knew Essien, kevin boateng, dede ayew, jordan, etc didnt play@the afcon! Think 2wise cos we are nt jokin in ghana hear! Morover our objective is not based on you! But brazil! So dnt hype this match, cos it no match for us,it was jx an opportunity u had@afcon! Ghana is lookn up to spain and brazil not u zambia!mtcheew
