ALLIANCE for Better Zambia (ABZ) leader Father Frank Bwalya will not launch his party this weekend in Kitwe as earlier scheduled.

Fr. Bwalya said he would not go ahead with the public launch of his political party set for tomorrow (Saturday) because police have advised him not to do so.

He said police officers informed him not to launch the party this weekend because of security reasons as most officers have been deployed in Kafulafuta constituency for the elections.

“We will not be launching our party this weekend as earlier scheduled because police officers would not be available to provide security at the party’s launch,” he said.

Fr Bwalya however said the reasons advanced by police were politically motivated.

He said he would not accept reasons given by the police but would obey their advice for fear of being arrested.

Fr Bwalya alleged that he was reliably informed that some members of a political party would sponsor thugs and ex-prisoners to disrupt the launch.

But acting Police spokesperson Rae Hamoonga said policing a political rally was involving and required a lot of manpower.

M Hamoonga said it was unfortunate that ABZ launch of party coincided with the bye- elections in Kafulafuta

He advised Fr Bwalya to re-apply for another police permit to launch his party.

    • pressure! pressure! pressure!!!.. you guys are putting too much pressure,, someone can commit suicide in state house..kkekekekekekekekek

  1. The message from the bye Election results are clear. You can full some people sometimes, but you can’t full all the people all the time.

Zondwa liked being opposition Leader but was not ready to be President. Have never seen a government that has no policy direction in any sector of the Economy before. Only in Zambia and only with PF.

  2. Zambia police have not gotten the ok from above. How could they allow it when this man had a very public tussle with the big boss?

  3. The reasons gave by the police are OK, Let Mr Bwalya take his time because tomorrow the Police will have no excuse. Sometimes we should learn that Security is a cardinal issue when holding such a Big Rally. I’m wishing you the best Father Bwalya.

    • Really? How can the reason be “just OK” when the bye-elections are already over?

Are we meant to believe that the same ZP that kept peace throughout the entire GENERAL ELECTIONS when the whole nation rallied and voted cannot manage to police four measly bye-elections on Thursday and one political rally three days later on Saturday?

That doesn’t sound just OK to me. More like lazy or incompetent at best, and anti-democratic at worst! Still, I guess life goes on under PF…..

  4. Whether you deny Frank Bwalya a permit to hold a rally or not, the writing is on the wall, people are tired of your lies. Two years in office and you have failed miserably.

  5. PF can now feel the danger, they really need to improve and impress, Fr Bwalya is bemba what does this mean:he has potential of causing PF influence on C/B, Luapula, Northern, Muchinga and Lusaka province if he can sell himself well, where as other parties if the remain as they are can deny PF in other provinces, analysis , analysis 2016 will be hot.

  6. wen were bye-election date announced? shld have realised this earlier on than 11th hour, if u r not competent enough u don’t deserve to run offices. why is it almost every one in public office is a failure ?

  7. Pf is killing itself.Allow people to hold rallies freely. We young Zambians are tired of dictatorship.Ba Sata mwapona 2016.Mwatusebanya fwebalanda icibemba.you’ll go in books as a first Bemba to loose power very fast.We Bembas believe in freedom of speech.Just wait for a while u’ll see copper-belt go opposition.Lusaka is already gone coz people are still driving in bad roads in compunds. If U continue with the same behavior of denying opposition holding rallies then u’ll see what u’ll happen in 2016.Ba Sata Mukabutuka Ku state house.Lesa ewamibikilepo pacipuna ico mulipo.Don’t allow people like Winter,Kambwili(Disastor Stadium) to advice U.Allow Lubinda,Scott, kandu luo, sakeni and other intelligent people to advice U.Winter can’t deliver anything

    • Advising a sitting African President? That is rare. Tell an African president the truth out there, means signing ones own dismissal letter in most African countries. If our presidents were true listening democrats, they would take on board their advisers views, but armed with past experience, these advisors usually tell their boss what he wants to hear and in the process the president losses touch with reality on the ground. With this in mind, I wonder if any of the mentioned would advise MCS, not Sakeni at least!

  8. Woh!! Haaa. MOSCOW (OP) SAYS “We bembas believe in freedom of speech” and BRYSON SAYS “father Bwalya being bemba is likely to take Northern, Luapula, Muchinga, Copperbelt and Lusaka if he sells himself well” Are you saying the bembas think alike?? Do you not know that is what hardcore tribalism is all about?

I hope you are wrong you two though I doubt if bembas will agree with you.
Zambians may wish to note that the same people who would have been mocking, insulting and accusing the opposition esp. UPND of being a regional/tribal party are suddenly “ADVISING” the PF and its leaders to become more democratic. Instead of saying “boma ni boma” they are saying the Police should allow the opposition to hold rallies, Are they already thinking of defecting from PF? Zambians…

  9. I am proud becoz de bembas reject even deir own wen he is misbehaving. There is nothing like uyu niwesu we vote for him. facts re there 2 show. l am only saddened by de hate by some pipo who think with their tribes.l don’t know wat de future

  10. PF, can you behave for a moment? I doubt if the advisors for Sata and PF are genuine. The fact is that Zambians hate any party that would behave like MMD did. If PF continues behaving like this, I can assure them that 2016 they are out . Consult nuetral people and they will tell you the facts. Please allow the opposition to hold their rallies, tame the PF cadres and arrest them when ever they missbehave. Dont behave like the MMD did otherwise 2016 you are out. This is free advice for you PF. Listen if you have ears.

Peace and Prosperity to Mother Zambia.

  11. ABZ has not been denied the permit, they have been advised to reschedule the rally as the police have received information that there are people who have been mobilized to cause chaos at the rally.

I feel pressure is on the opposition that need to mount up a campaign strategy that does not show that they are like PF. but at the moment I think they are all confused they do not know which strategy to use.

The only benefit is that the country is now on their side.. VIVA ZAMBIA TOGETHER WE CAN MAKE THIS COUNTRY A HEAVEN

  12. EMBARRASSING?? HOW CAN A PARTY LOOSE POPULARITY SO FAST?? SOMETHING IS VERY WRONG? WINTER AND OTHER S.T.U.PID Advisors to the President have caused this. SATA is sleeping and getting wrong Advice. It’s his express ticket to 2016 loss.

  13. The former priest must just hold on his fire..bola panshi.Presidential materials do will never throw mad at elders. All along. This has been a tradition in the Zambian politics .PF must not even be blamed no.

  14. I still stand by my comment at 13.

All this change of heart among those who have given themselves the responsibility to speak for our bemba brothers and sisters is BECAUSE of the victories of the UPND and HH in the two constituencies esp C/BELT which they erroneously believe is bembaland. These brothers (not all bembas, of course) are behaving like bullies. A bully only behaves when they are humiliated in a fight with a so-called underdog/small guy. We don’t need yo approval to be Zambians. You do not even try to speak our languages but you speak to us in your language without even asking if we know it. I have lived bo in both Northern and Luapula provinces. Like any people they are good and polite. Your names some of you may be bembaish but i think you are not true.

  15. The Zambia we wanted. lets just wait. our watchdog closed.NEXT ITS LUSAKA TIMES. why deny citizens like father frank their birth rights.
