MMD Director of Communications in the office of the party president, Muhabi Lungu, says reports in the media for party president Nevers Mumba to resign are baseless.
Mr Lungu says his office has not received any communication any member of the party calling for the resignation of Dr. Mumba.
He since challenged any aggrieved member of the MMD to use the appropriate channels of communication with the relevant party structures instead of rushing to the press.
Mr. Lungu adds those calling for Dr. Mumba’s resignation should do so using the correct procedure.
There has been a seemingly growing rift in the MMD top leadership with some named senior members of the party being accused of plotting to oust Dr Nevers Mumba from the presidency of the former ruling party.
Muhabi you are a political undertaker. You saw the death of UNIP .now you want to see the death mmd.

Advise to some Zambians who may not see things in the correct percipective.UNIP might have died,because it thrived in the One-Party Plitical System.Multi-paty System was strange to them,they failed to compete.On the other hand,MMD is the product of multipatism,hence very ready to survive.That’s why the MMD can boast as the only Political Party which has had 4 Party Presidents,and still going on.UNIP for 27 yrs only new one man KK.That’s why they’re almost dead because they were not used to democracy of having different Leaders as Partuy Presidents.This is a key reason as compared to MMD.MMD is a tested democratic Party.That’s why what Kaingu and Co. Democracy at test here! Mumba was democratically elected. And if you claim to be a democrat, you have to work with the principles of democracy. This is not Egypt where the army or the mob can remove a democratically elected president in the name of correcting a wrong. This is the beauty of democracy, if you bring in chaff – you die with the chaff for the life of its term. No shortcuts – all done by the book. Chituwo, Kaingu, Namugala may as well resign and join UPND and PF who seem to begetting MMD frustrated – otherwise ousting democratically leaders is lack of leadership.
