65,000kgs of contaminated Zambeef products that were confiscated from the Northern region were this morning disposed off in Kitwe by burning them.

Four trucks containing contaminated offals and hooves where disposed off in Kitwe’s Ndeke presidential area in an exercise that included the Kitwe City Council.

Zambeef Manager Northern region Alvaro Diego said the products were from all outlets in the region.

Mr. Diego said about 35percent loss has been incurred by the company in the northern region since the revelations that the products contained harmful chemicals.

Kitwe City Council Public relations manager Dorothy Sampa said there were delays in disposing the products because the local authority was waiting for ZEMA to approve a site for the disposal.

Sampa revealed that the local authority is now more alert in its inspections since the ZAMBEEF meat contamination scam.

She however noted that the Kitwe City Council is in dire need of more health inspectors in order to effective carry out inspections.

Local Journalists and council officials were present to witness the disposal as requested by the Ministry of Health for transparency.

Last month, Health Minister Joseph Kasonde told Parliament that independent tests carried out on some seized Zambeef products confirmed the presence of formaldehydes in imported meat samples taken from different batches and outlets of Zambeef.

  1. Make sure you leave those premises when you see ash, otherwise, Zambians will invade that place with plastic bags at the expense of their lives!

  2. I hope the local authorities saw to it that all the products were destroyed coz I’m sure there were some people who were planning to take a coup on them in the night. My parents once told me of a similar incidence in the 1980’s when some people ended up digging up some condemned tinned beef products.

  3. When is the ministry of health going to take ACTION against this company? Are they waiting for bribes and donations to the PF treasury?

  4. Zambeef says they have incurred 35% losses as a result of contaminated products my foot! Whats that loss compared to lives of thousand of Zambians who were going to be affected by your meat? Capitalist tendencies, maximising profits irregardless, dont bemoan your losses yet, wait for suits for the damage you have caused to people,s healthy.

  5. LT, To help young people still in primary and secondary schools enrich their vocabulary why not use the word ‘incineration’ instead of burning.

  6. A notice at the entrance on Zambeef arcades asks us to support Zambeef as the company is undergoing a difficulty time!
This company appears not to be remorseful; why not apologise to customers for poisoning them. They think the government is victimising them for whatever reason and want us to toe their line. If Zambeef is aggrieved why do they not take government to court for their loses?
I nauseated after reading the notice.

  7. so what was that noise from hyena hyena(HH) supporting things he did not understand. His aromatic aldehyde beef has burned. Hh was politically wrong over this issue.

  8. I knew how important the first postpartum month was, having heard stories, at times you may get
rashes over time. And this feeling of enjoyment and happiness grows once you see your physician if you have a lot of weight but she’s still glowing
and beautiful. While they are generally considered harmless to
    the developing foetus.
