Ghana draw big for Zambia

Share

Ghana rallied from 2-0 to finish 2-2 away with Turkey in their buildup to their September 6 showdown with Zambia.

The Black stars had Asamoah Gyan to thank for a brace in a 14 minute period after the hour mark in Istanbul on Wednesday night.

Turkey took a 2-0 lead into the break through Burka Yilmaz and Umut Bulut in the 7th and 28th minutes respectively.

Gyan salvaged a significant draw with goals in the 61st and 75th minutes.

Ghana and Zambia are on 12 and 11 points respectively heading into their Group D decider in Kumasi next month.

  1. There is no competition here,Ghana’s game is just a formality,Ghana is already through to the next round. What kind of football can we honestly display at the world cup? This would even give more amunition to anti African teams @ the WC.

    • ”we are all in Govt to eat”

No wonder you are failing to think properly coz you like eating and thats all you can do than anlysis the Zambia Ghana game

    • You are so negative, don’t you know that “Our way of thinking creates good or bad outcomes. Always turn a negative situation into a positive situation. It makes a big difference in your life when you stay positive” mwaumfwa ba mudala ba kusheta

    • Even at personal level I wonder if you can do anything coz I am sure your esteem is very low. if you consider yourself to be a “nobody” then don’t extend that to Chipolopolo coz we have already qualified to the W.C. We are just waiting to go to Kumasi on 06/09 to beat Ghana 1:2 and grab the much needed 3 points to qualify with a total of 14 points. You will soon see how much FAVOUR is upon this country when it comes to soccer.

    • But they scored two. So we need to work harder. They will probably recall all pros that are not playing the warmups which will be good for us as they wont be used to playing together. Good luck Zambia

    • Mauzu i dont understand what u mean Mature has all the rights to be upset with morons who are uncertain and not pround of Zambia

    • mauzu,
and what position is our president going to play?
dont just suport such sentiments that are negative toward sata just because you hate him. no.
football is suppose to be a unifying factor in this country and not a divicive one.

    • Mature is right in fact we are discussing football not PF or UPND so why talk about PF to me the first person to talk about PF when we are discussing football is the most bitter person…grow up chaps this is football not politics

  2. Mauzu you are right but Mature is expressing his right of opinion thats why they different even in the construction of a sentence

  3. WOUNDER WHY SUM PIPO BEHAVE LIKE DIS.IF U HAVE GOT SUMTHING BAD TO SAY ABOUNT CHIPOLOPOLO JST BE MUTE.GO ZAMBIA GO.

  4. Ghana Played a different game possibly without the other team’s professionals. Zambia played a different game without all the players who can deliver. Ghana VS Zambia game will be a different one no matter what will happen, but one thing is certain, Zambia can deliver even when list expected. Go Zambia go and score to surprise those who undermine you as they did when we got the Africa Cup.

  5. Ghana should go to Brazil are they are worthy representatives of the continent. I don’t see HR’s men coming back from a 2-0 deficit in any away match!!

  6. Look at a team with quality players coming from behind ans scoring 2 quick goals. I hope the technicl bench are strategising to ensure that players are sharp like “Docor” razor blades of decades ago. What we need is the likes of Jacob Mulenga, score quick goals in opening minutes and defend the lead. Then we will have been done.

  7. Without risking being told off, I would like to put my penny’s worth of observation. It is great to be patriotic and being optimistic. In football it is self defeating going into a match with a self defeated attitude. However, sometimes it good to look at evidence at hand and make an intelligent prediction. Without my thoughts being baised, my views are that odds are stacked againts a Zambia win. The fact that we will be playing away and coupled with the fact that our team’s performance isn’t honestly speaking very great save for a few players, I dont see us winning. Safe to say, that all we can do is encourage our players to go into that match with a belief, you never know what may happen. Say what you may, but I hope to return after the match in Ghana either eating humble pie or not.

    • Yours is a sober analysis and I agree with you completely. Acknowledged, we need to be positive in everything we do but we should also not conveniently by pass facts on the ground.
Since AFCON 2012 our team has been inconsistent, playing well in few and letting the nation down in many. With the three free points awarded to us, the last game against Ghana should have been a matter of fulfilling the fixture had we done the needful. That, however, is now water under the bridge.
Personally I will be cautiously optimistic. Cautious because playing away and needing a win surely the odds are against Zambia. Has HR identified the areas that made the team look pedestrian against Sudan at home? Has he established why each time we score we allow our opponents score soon after?
      Wish the lads well.

  8. U guys who think negatively abt chipolopolo, were u not the same pipo who doubted that we could ever lift the africa cup?Game ni game, its not like putting on a condom.uno mukulo naifwe tuleya ku Brazil.@brian bwalya ndeke village, bushe niwebo mulamu-mulepule?

  9. Every soccer game is different from another. Ghana could seem to be a better team than Zambia but i do not write off the chipolopolo. What ever it is every player is going into this match with hopes of winning. There are no under dogs nowadays. Ghana scored 2 & they drew. We scored 1 & we also drew. The WC qualify game will be played differently i assure you. Just encourage the boys and see wonders. negative talk will take nobody anywhere. go chipolopolo go

  10. 2012 Afcon Zambia beat Ghana, at Levy we beat them & it will prevail in Kumasi like or not this time Double (Zambia 2- 0 Ghana) Mark my words.

  11. Ghana versus Turkey was meaningless in the sense that they were preparing for an african opposition with an entirely different kind of play from that of Turkey. Its very difficult to gauge your strenghts and weakenesses in such circumstances. Many are the times we see top African players shining in Europe and only to flop on the home soil.I ca’nt be intimidated by the result.

    • Well said my friend. African soccer is different from European soccer. in case there are people who are doubting, they only need to go back to history and look at the performance of George Weah whilst playing for Milan and contrast that with his performance whilst donning Liberian colours and they will realise that the Ghana draw against Turkey does not mean anything. i believe that it very possible for Zambia to beat Ghana.

  12. I watched Ghana play in the Confederation Cup in Brazil recently. They are definitely the pride of African football currently. There’s no question that Zambia is one of the good teams in Africa and can beat Ghana on any given day. However, Ghana is the better of the two and more likely to qualify to the next round, considering further that it will be Kumasi and not Ndola!

  13. Mr Musheto seperate politics from soccer.Wisdom has it that sometimes it is important to be mute when u don’t know what to say. Was it Ghana that went to Brazil this year? Was it not Nigeria?Go,go Zambia!

  14. Lets face the reality here.. ZAMBIAN team is sucks right now. Zambia needs at least 10 years in order to rebuild the national term.

  15. Zambia is not Mr Sata or pf .Why destroy everything about Zambia all because the one u demonically hate is President.Would u like to c the ones u prefer to be treated like that if ever they will in be power?U even hate the boys. Bumfwiti ,demons!

  16. I agree with Vota card. You guys who are saying Zambia will lose, watch your words because those words might come and bite you. Football has changed nowadays. There are no underdogs until the final whistle. The game is currently 50/50 anyone can win. Don’t count your chickens before they are hatched. Ask Barcelona, Brazil and Spain they will tell you the all story.

  17. Zambia Starting eleven at the 2012 AFCON have to be used.We will employ 1 stricker in the first half to choke the Ghana team.As we approach mid second half the chana nerves will be high knowing that if the concede they are gone and that when that ka important strick will come from unexpected player for Zambia. The opposing team will throw everything at us but alas just when they think they are going to strick we will hit them again and the ref will blow for end of the game,Watch the space you will tell me.

  18. in the last 2 years Zambia has played Ghana twicw and they have come out victorious so, whats the guarantee that Ghana will win this time around and besides Chipolopolo performance is slowly improving since the last time we played Ghana and i thought people were saying Ghana will beat Zambia at Levy even the Ghanias themselves said that. Furthermore at AFCON people said Nigeria will beat us what happened we drew, Ivory Coast were tipped to Win Africa cup in the last 2 AFCONs but what happened…..So lets wait for the material day to come because both teams have everything to play and non wants to lose, therefore may the best team win.

  19. mm! Chipolopolo will give the black star a good game, but it will be in vain as the result will be either a win for Ghana or a draw. After the match, please don’t hang yourself ni kabolafye (it is just a game)
