CHAN draw pleases Zambia bench

Share

Chipolopolo assistant coach Masautso Mwale is pleased with the
goalless draw Zambia forced against Zimbabwe in the 2014 CHAN
qualifier away in Harare on Sunday.

In a post match interview, Mwale told reporters at Rufaro Stadium that
the draw was a fair result.

He said the home based Chipolopolo squad performed well.

‘It is a fair result for us if you look at the games we have played
fatigue took its toll on us,’ Mwale said.

“We could have done much better but I should commend the boys.
We will plan for them and we will draw a positive result,’ he added.

Zambia and Zimbabwe clash in the return leg on August 24 at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in Ndola on Saturday.

  1. Everything pleases them as they always get paid, they are too comfortable, when have they ever been displeased…nobody higher up puts them under pressure ….only in Zambia.

    • But ba Jay Jay mulayumfwa, why don’t you comment on your American Baseball, a game for the show-offs.
The Zim match was exciting, and it was excellent result for both teams.

    • Those two big boys upfront still irritate me with their failure to score. Mwape and Mbewe have good bodies they just can’t use properly…but I take it that if a player is consistent with his mistakes then the coach is also consistently blind! Moses Phiri deserves to start before any of these who need 20 chances to score one goal!!

  2. Previously we used to beat these teams wherever the field of play was provided but alas these days! Either we the boys are not committed enough or the supporting structures (Suit case) need overhauling completely.

    • I am tired of draws. If we have to lose lets lose, this is terrible. Draws will NEVER bring us any cup and they say ” We are happy with the result”

  3. Rubbish, how do you maintain mbewe who keeps on defending on behalf of the opponent by loosing balls, fouls, offsides you can mention them.
If it was a goals draw you would have said its okay, now if zimbabwe scores first can your blunt foul strikers score two and at the same time the set peace threatened defence maintain one goal against zambia.

  4. Granted, I would have loved an outright win but weighed on the scale of objectivity the draw was a fair result. When we played Zimbabwe in the last COSAFA tournament our neighbors were by far better than us tactically, the loss notwithstanding, and today playing at home I had feared for the worse.
What I find confounding is why HR seems to have fastened so much trust to the striking partnership Festus and Boyd. The team may be buoyed on by soccer fans next week but with that blunt frontline we might still struggle. The duo seem specialized in missing than shooting on goal. Well only the vagaries of time might make HR realize that he had over rated the boys and I hope by then it won’t be too late.
Come next weekend soccer fans will do their part.It will remain up to the boys to deliver.

    • Dont be in the critising mood all the time. We are doing fine. North African teams were a power house years back but now they are no threat to us. Who expected Botswana to put up challenge to world cup qualifies team in its group. Football is changing. Zambian players are in this countries playing prof. So one will expect them to learn .

  5. I totally agree with Jay Jay. why should we be praising the team for a barren draw. What people like nostradamus whatever his name is don’t understand is that in an event that Zim scores in Ndola, our team will have to score a minimum of 2 goal to go through. In a nut shell the result puts Zim zim in pole position to qualify. Malawians say, “bola nizi gole.” Send the PE teacher back to France and lets get ourselves a soccer coach.

  6. i love my countrymen, always settling for anything, proudly saying ‘ahh so chabe’, i’m surprised nobody see’s a problem with this drawing culture, you think a coach in europe will survive if he draws all the games? im sure HR is laughing at us in his mind, he was hired to win, now he has set the bar, he has stayed as coach with draws. why settle for a corolla when you have the potential and opportunity to drive a mercedez. lets be ambitious, it all starts with the attitude. in whatever i do personally, i dont like to lose. This ‘so chabe’ attitude is what is killing us, we always settle, when the government screws us, its ‘ahh so chabe, come 2016’, when we see trash in town its ‘ahh so chabe, kaili mwenze doti nakudala’, if your boss doesnt pay you accordingly, its ‘so chabe,…

    • Spot on…they call it patriotism more like gullible in my book. In European club or anywhere in the footballing world HR would have been sent packing. Our countrymen need to WAKE UP from their docility!!

  7. we should learn to appreciate sometimes. I didnt expect Zambia to win or false a draw due to the jetlag the boys where subjected to. I true support what the assistant coach is saying. Flying such a long distance in a short space of time worns your body out. Only the ignorant can overlook this

  8. guys, soccer has changed face in Africa. Every team is technically good on the ball.zim is just good at passing the ball. Same as Ghana.cheee…and the players just too individual on the ball.

  9. Guys U watched the game?? ZNBC didn’t announce they will beam the game. Even their programme didn’t show any match… Bachabechabe ba ZNBC

  10. Zambia – Zimbabwe game has never been easy since time immemorial, maybe u started watching these games after Afcon win but ask Kalu he will tell u that its a 50-50 affair whenever we play Zim Zim…
    Congrats boys…

    • Excuses Excuses, Excuses Excuses, Excuses Excuses, Excuses Excuses, what happened to all that bravado and fighting talk about giving a good thrashing in their own back yard?

    • Stop congratulating failures! Never settle for second best! We must always aim for the best.Yes soccer has changed for the other countries and Zambia is not improving when others are improving…….Sad!!! Congrats for what?

  11. Ok now these statements are contrasting and confusing. Is this not the same Mwale was is quoted in today’s post as ‘Draw with Zim saddens Mwale’? Sad here, pleased there. Not sure if he too is becoming a draw master.

    • @ Bullu, thats whay u should not 100% trust media and criticise the man on the basis of newspaper or any other media reports,…….learn to get the truth before u pass any judgement on anybody.

  12. Please coach, our attack is very blunt!! Festus will take us no Where…….. That front line needs a quick revision within four days. We need goals Herve.

  13. Maybe FAZ needs to be showing these boys the videos of the fallen heroes M.T.S.R.I.P. attacking system we are fed up of this drought. And we should refrain from finding excuses that soccer has change….Indeed soccer has changed when we cant beat Sudan and Lesotho away whilst Ghana can can still beat these teams in their back yards. When it comes to us there is always this saying “there are no small teams ” meanwhile Ghana is busy putting small teams in their places I think we are just mediocre.

  14. I watched the game and it was all for Zimbabwe though equally were poor finishers. The problem I noted was that the boys were not brave on the ball. They played dull game without any enthusiasm to score. If they will play the same in Ndola Zimbabwe will capitalize on their laziness. Renard must tell his boys to attack and score.

Peace and Prosperity to mother Zambia.

  15. why these bemba primitive creatures persecute & hate us Lozis ? Did we married their snake hearted women before? If not then, where this hatred is coming from?
