The opposition UPND has demanded that cabinet constitutes a medical board to examine the health status of President Michael Sata.

Addressing a media briefing in Lusaka Friday morning, UPND Mbabala MP Ephraim Belemu said the matter of President Sata’s health is now a matter of great concern.

“From what we read into this situation and this was confirmed by Defence Minister Geoffrey Mwamba, there are some people within PF that think President Sata will not make it to 2016. Constituting a medical board would help the nation know the extent of Mr. Sata’s health,” Mr. Belemu stated.

He said Mr. Mwamba is not a medical expert to comment on the health of President Sata.

“The last time I checked, GBM was not a medical doctor. How then does he confidently state that President Sata is fit?”

Mr. Belemu said cabinet should invoke constitutional provisions and quickly set up a medical board that will examine Presdient Sata’s health status.

And UPND Deputy Secretary Kuchungu Simusamba said the PF appears to have information that Zambia may go for a general election before 2016.

“We believe this is the reason that they are denying us permits to hold rallies. They are so scared of the UPND, they don’t want us to have a head start.

Mr. Simusamba has since revealed that the UPND will from now onwards never apply to the police to hold rallies or public processions.

“It is pointless to continue notifying them when we know they will never grant us the go ahead. From now onwards, the UPND will use its own marshals to police such events.”

    • Am sure it pained UPND when they saw Sata all fit and all at Ben Mwila`s funeral.Keep on wishing for his illness and death. He is here to stay.

    • saulosi and nubian princess echilafi chachilamo!! how easily you forget that our president sata did actually call for a similar thing for levy mwanawasa. he infact went on to call him a cabbage. nomba whats wrong when others ask for a similar health board to look at our presidents health especially when the reasons for such arise from speculations within PF itself. Why would GBM say there are people within pf who fill the president might not stand in 2016 or might not even finish his term. what could be the reason for that?

    • Saulosi you claim to be a lecturer and yet your reasoning is well below par. What school do you lecture at? President Sata serves at the pleasure of the people. The people have the right to know his health condition, especially when in doubt. You should know better than this. Stop rushing to blogging nonsense. Last time you fled when you were challenged on the history of the Bisa. Just in case you are wondering, I am not the Nostrdamus you cohort with in blogging crap. I am the Nostradamus that brings sense to blogging. We must debate issues if we are to serve our country from mediocrity.

    • @Nostradamus…i have seen that you always try to get into pity arguments with me.I`m not at your level and if demanding for an examination for a president just because a tabloid publication(ZWD) likes reporting that the president is ailing is what you call good reasoning then i beg to differ. They are so many issues worth talking about as the opposition party and not the health of someone who was visibly seen attending a funeral and giving a speech. To satisfy your curiousity about me being a lecturer.Maybe if you call it that way.I`m a supervisor for two bachelor students(who are working on a research project) in a European univeristy. That should be enough about me.Have a good weekend.

    • @Saulosi you burry your head in the sand and thats dangerous for a lecturer…there is a term for that its called been “docile” you are not exactly helping matters with your support against the cause…in as much as you love Sata think of the bigger picture, think about the future for mother Zambia. We have already lost one president because of the love for power policy it’s time to change our ways it’s time to stop treating our presidents like they are some kind of gods

    • @Freeman…No one acts based on unfounded rumours(ailing Sata my foot !).Anyway i understand where you are coming from.It is difficulty for you to like or agree with my posts because we stand on different sides of the political fence. It is very unlikely for two people to look at the same issue in exactly the same way because we are different individuals with perception moulded by diferent life experiences and environments.I`m loooking at PF this way it is because this is the way i see it,so don`t expect me to follow your logic or thinking pattern.Ayway all the best bro…i have to go to the wine store before they close. It is friday remember.Greet you family for me.Bye bye !!!

    • Guys please! please! am a critic of Sata,, these issues od health and and death please let us all stay away from them.. if you all remember well mwanawasa laugh at mazoka but they both of them died.. i do criticise Sata i want pray for his health and life.. Please UPND politics is politics .. life and death is for God

    • For all those that are hiding behind polemics, would Saulosi et al confirm or deny that while in opposition Sata called for a board to be constituted to examine Levy? If so, what provisions in the law was Sata trying to invoke? Did he have facts then or was he acting on rumours? Finally, if people like Saulosi saw no wrong in what Sata did then, what is wrong for others to do the same? Lastly, this african mentality that fails to challenge or question authority on the premise of respect is what has made African politicians get away with murder as we Africans think when people are in power or authority, they are not subject to scrutiny or questioning. Whats so wrong to subjecting one to a medical examination. Ofisanji mambala? This would apply to any one in office whether it be UPND or UNIP

    • @kalampa untied
My friend, my brother this is me the real ndobo,, the small critic,, life is precious, we must respect … politics is politics.. life and death is for God. We dont know when our day is up

    • Ndobo i love your new found level headedness.Am still in shock.God i need a strong drink.I will never say anything bad against again because you have proved me wrong by showing that you have feelings.Cheers !!!

    • @kalamba united
Greatly appreciated my bro, but dont thank me,, thank cindy one bemba lady am after she has impacted me positively and am still looking for diamonds/gold

    • Saulosi, I have noticed you resort to fleeing the scene when you face intellectuals. Last time you fled when you were challenged over the history of the Bisa in Field Ruwe’s article. You cut the conversation shot and fled. Comeon, man up. You are not worth a lecturer. You are wasting your student’s time and money. It is true that we as humans are susceptible to bias, we are truly partisan, but when we attain a certain level of academia we strive to reach a common goal even in our arguments. As for you it is sad that you are foolishly and blindly partisan. Stop blogging nonsense.

    • you will remain bitter ba opposition na 2016 u will be more and more bitter…as far as am concerned HE Sata is 100% fit…government can’t act on speculations…whatever is discussed in the media is deemed as mere speculation, hearsay and trivial…unless u ve tangible evidence can the president be examined not what u get from watch galu…dabate developmental issue than petty issues which will benefit u nothing..

  1. Ba UPND muleikalafye naimwe!Don’t u have better things 2 do than worryin yourselves sick bout the presido’z health?!!!

  3. Is this MP a medical doctor to raise suspicion that any one is not fit… are ZWD chaps doctors…are they even Zambians

    • Was Micheal Sata a medical doctor then in 2008 when he requested that cabinet should set up a medical board for Levy? He was using his constitutional right like what Belemu is using as well.If it was alright for Micheal Sata to demand one for Levy what is the difference or problem now when the other citizens what to the health status of their president whom they maintained by paying taxes.

  4. GBM and KABIMBA have persistently talked about the president’s health.Meanwhile the president is really seen in public to clarify on any aligations. what is happening in the country kanshi???? am in Zambia or lost.

    • Iwe running a country does not mean appearing in public all the time.Even a paramount cheif does not appear in public just for the sake of appearing so that people see him.Thre is more to running a country than appearing in public.Think befor you post pointless comments!!

  5. iweSata, start ruling the country, why are you behaving like a dog with a muzzle. Look at the way yo ministers are behaviing endorsing and disendorsing you..wake up from slumber

  6. What is the new constitution about this. Clearly, the current system leaves a lot to be desired. How is the cabinet that is appointed by the same man declare him unfit (albeit via a medical board) – iliko bad! I know strange things happen but this one – Certainly NOT in present day Africa!!

  7. @Tese Zono, ichisungu cenu mulemoneka ati, you didn’t go to any school, don’t write anything on this blog please, this site is all over the universe, muletusebanya. you are the proper riffraff.

  8. WHY DOES UPND GET SO EXCITED AT THE HEARING OF ONE’S SICKNESS OR DEATH? WHY CAN’T THEY JUST WORK HARD TO GO TO PLOT ONE THAN WISHING SOMEONE TO DIE? ONLY GOD GIVES AND TAKES AWAY LIFE. FOR SO LONG THEY HAVE BEEN WISHING THE PRESIDENT ILL, WHAT KIND OF PEOPLE ARE THESE? BESIDES POLITICS ZAMBIANS ARE ONE BIG FAMILY AND THAT’S WHY WHEN ONE DIES WE GET TOGETHER AND MOURN. UPND PLEASE GRADUATE FROM UNDER FIVE STATUS.

    • They are just giving Sata a taste of his own medicine….the one he used to take when Mwanawasa was sick. They always say be careful what you wish for……time to pay up Ukwa! You got your wish, now live with it!

  9. UPND and their leader are just like MDC and M.Tsvangirai, They overate themselves and think the majority follow them when infact they are full of BITTERNESS, check their priorities, not appealing!!

  10. surely every zedian now knows this is a party of valueless under5s, how do you examin a healthy person who is fit? When under5 HH fed the whole zambia with aromatic aldehyde and formalderhyde contained in his beef, we didnt ask upnd to constitute a kangaroo medical team to examin him. What has changed? He was on radio defending his toxic beef some of which was even stolen by his tribesman; we havent asked for his health examination todate.

Under5s look for something more appealing to win u plot 1 not these childish things u think of. Awe upnd! Sure it died with andie kambela m.

  11. Under 5’s hahaha! The president being away is our strategy. Even this bickering is just strategy, meanwhile sela tubombeko.

  12. You chaps do you remember what ukwa did over levy’s sickness?he even personally went to the supreme court demanding that levy’s sickness should be known!maybe you were ti dumb that u couldn’t read or understand English?

    • Levy was serious sick and was in a coma at the time Sata made that request. Even if it sounded unchristian , but it was constitutional because a President who is in a state of dying cannot hold Authority. If Sata is currently incapacitated , then let the Medical board be appointed right away.

    • The late levy- (mhsrip) suffered a stroke in Egypt & Bob ever said he would be the first to come to zed to learn how to survive from that. CNN showed black women wailing in France for about 20 to 30 minutes as breaking news, then it was total black out. When Gov announced actual death no major news carrier bothered to report as breaking news.

  13. Like one American Senator answered another one who requested he goes for an IQ test…’ I will only go for the IQ test if you also go for a psychiatrist evaluation’. HE MCS will go before the medical board only when HH also goes for his under five injections. Period

    • Peter…which under five re u refering to?we mean political under 5 injection…and possibly psychatric examination becos he seems to have lost his senses…we want debates on real development issues not trivial issue which will not benefit masses

  14. Awe Ba UPND this is not necessary and it will not work… Balekenifye abena GBM na Sampa ama Riffraffs baletalikana fye beka…

  15. Ok, this is now going too far, so after seeing them fotos at the funeral you get Hyper tensio… and this is what you come up with? I think you are the one who needs the medical examination, i now believe you cant lead Zambia, is this the calibre of our future leaders? indeed you are ka under 5, we want to see reconciliation, peace and healthy interactions amongst our leaders and this is all you produce, if you vomit such what more your followers? what a leader what an example, walitumpa sana!
I appologise for my language but i mean what i said.

    • @cindy
no no no no. you are above chinese cheap.. no name calling like `ka under 5`… remember one zambia one nation…. issues not people and emotions. i was just drinking with my friends for serbia and croatia,, war and division is bad you people please!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! people

  16. @What a life. That’s the problem with you semi literate PF cadres. Ati even paramount chiefs don’t appear in public any how. My foot! Sata is not a paramount chief or a ‘ruler’. He’s an elected head of state who must “govern” and be guided by a set of rules called the constitution.

Should he appear in public often? Hell yes! He’s an employee of the people and other than confine himself to the high walls of State House, he must meet and talk to his employers as much as possible. Its OK for his employers to asses his suitability for the post of CEO of State even in the middle of the term. This position isn’t for the faint hearted.

Democracy doesn’t end on election day, it must be talked and walked each and every day of the entire term.

  17. Why do the opposition politicians make demands that they know will not be acted on? The request is merited but the question is will that Board be ever constituted? Let’s us focus on things like pushing the Government to reconsider the new Road Toll Fees and restrict them to provincial entry points. For example, instead of collecting fees at Katuba, Kabwe , Kapiri and Kafulafuta when driving between Lusaka and Ndola, one pays at Katuba (for Central Province) and Kafulafuta (for C/Belt).

  18. Sata demanded that wen levy had collupsed and unconscience in france’s hospital. How was he when u met him at BY’s funeral? Could it be that upnd and zwd have seen that pipo have peceived them as liers after seeing Sata looking fit at the funeral?

  19. This were Sata beats them. I mean these were his tactics towards Mwanawasa. He knows exactly how to deal with such from experience. As long as UPND uses Satas tactics to unseat him, then they should dream on. Its like fighting the lion with teeth. I mean obviously he has better teeth. Find a new strategy that is new to sata, then you will beat him. But again UPND and strategy???????????

  20. This man really is a mad Guy thats why is prorested a one man protest . is Chainama hospital fanctioning ? pls take HH there it looks soon he ll strip off his cloths in front of children .

  21. There is a war of words between GBM and Miles Sampa. The latest SAMPA has said

“According to information from What GBM submitted to Parliament, attained form five (Grade 12) education. But a source has challenged this, asking Mwamba to disclose which secondary school he attended and in which years to achieve form five education because as far as he knows, the defence minister failed to pass grade seven on more than three attempts and qualify for form one.
Sampa said if it was the people of Matero Constituency that Mwamba referred to as riffraffs, that was fine because PF was for the low class people.
He said the PF was there to look after the low class citizens and uplift them”.

  22. Sata who is NOT a Medical Dr and but a standard 4 drop OUT called for a medical board to examine Levy.

What is wrong with us calling for SATA to be examined now???? Most things falling on Sata, he too Sata was doing or asking the same when he was in opposition.

  23. PF themselves started this issue of SATA and his sickness. GBM and the Post with Wynter on one side.

UPND is right just to assist PF in their query about Sata and his Health.

  24. The one causing all these problems is not UPND but the chimimba GBM.

I have already said that if the people closer to Sata start talking such rabbish about his health, it makes other people to speculate.

Tell this FAT chap to close his mouth. He is causing a lot of speculations in the nation.

  25. IWE Nubian Princess ARE YOU GAY?ACTUALLY U ARE A MAN.I KNOW YOU.YOUR NAME IS Allan Josiah Mvula .
SORRY DUDE THERE IS NO WAY U CN HAVE A WOMAN’S NAME,U ARE GAY.PERIOD

  26. It is always difficult, if not impossible, to argue with PF cadres. Pf cadres don’t have any substantive arguments. PF cadres can only argue on the basis of jealousy, bitterness, and all the pretty issues. The constitution requires a medical board if the president is unwell. But we talking to the unschooled and this definitely will fall on deaf ears. these people are so arrogant that right now, under your nose, retirement age is being pushed to 65 without any consultation, lump sum pension are being abolished before September etc. Fili okotuleya.

  27. UPND and Tongas smoke too much of their traditional smoke. ***** tribe. Agree with Nubian Princess, HH and his tribal followers must be examined first at Chainama.

  28. You will be dying one by one. Who is that UPND Lusaka district chairman who died last week? Next it is the village boy i shall sucrifice by the name of Cornelius Mweetwa. Please watch me!

  29. Another UPND exercise in futility. Who will conduct these examinations UPND doctors (lol) since if conducted by other doctors UPND will question the results. But United Party for National Dreaming can continue to dream or just shut the fu*k up if they have nothing to do.

  30. This is low caliber of politician of nowadays. instead of telling what they are going to do they start wishing somebody died. God is watching you because SATA’s life brings to God.

  31. In most well administered democracies regular medical check-ups for a head of state are routinely done as a matter of necessity. This is so because of the demands of the nation the head of state has to bear on his shoulders.
But in Zambia currently things are done differently, it is the ”it does not matter” era and anything goes. Is a medical review a thing to be ashamed of? Anyway it is no longer a secret that GBM agrees that Mr Sata’s health needs an urgent review.

    • hahaha…iwe what re u saying???United People for National Death doesnt represent national demand…they re far from it!! remain dreaming we re sailing upto the promised land

    • hahaha…i see sense now United Party for National Death no wonder they celebrate when one dies…Sata will not die 2day untill u re finished!

  32. Where are those keyboard tapping ***** at watchpig? Our dear president looks very very very healthy more healthy that feeble minded **** of leader under5. Ala Bee no easy way out for you, you are a thieving **** and you will dance like you have fire ants in your trousers.

  33. Aren’t we setting ourselves up for a constitutional crisis?
Illegally Acting Chief Justice and dishonesty about the president’s true state of health?
    ???

  34. i think its true because his brain and his mouth, they dont co-rdinate.
tubikepo na menso plus amatwi…no proper cordination pali uyu umuntu.

  35. Yaba wonder the saying goes ” small minds never discuss big things” really ba UPND even after seeing a person at a funeral looking fit and taking it easy you still talking about his health? I bet you have to use your own private DR’s to do that because government Doctors will not do that, and who is gone give them permission to do that ?

  36. The President needs to address this issue of his health not only ZWD is taking advantage but people in PF there is already power struggle. too many acting
    presidents and aspiring presidents

  37. Very rubbish Rants. Thats why Zambians say that UPND is an under 5. Of all things to talk about they choose a non starter? What a childish party is UPND. When you think now UPND is maturing, alas, you hear their childish rants. This is rubbish of upnd.

Peace and prosperity to Mother Zambia.

  38. Most of you bloggers think with your tribes not brains. How do you call someone with a proven track record in edu2tion and business under five? Cultured people never glorify insults, only uncouth charlatans and miscreants do!

  39. Chaleng Sata on eduction hs provd futile!Next fr nose pokers is health. At no time did UNDP NGO demanded fr late Kunda veep demanded fr his health despite a visibly ailing health he had. Why?UNDP never at al thought MMD wud b ousted frm power habitual bedfelows fr HH.U guys ve no foresight nor analytcal knowhow.Alwaways reactive not proactive. Now aftr PF won the i.di.ots ve amaes unreasonable & unpalatable lust fr Plot 1 as if re masters.U wont get it no mater how.Sata has bn advised to keep quiet evn if u lament ridiculously.Mwailasha its not easy.Jst work hard not personal vendeta baba.Yali kosa regional politicians!

  40. Workers are expected to be certified that they are in good health each time they seek renewals of job contracts. If the health of a person is persistently poor, one can request for early retirement on medical grounds – and still get full financial benefits in accordance with his/her job description.

It is, therefore, good for any citizen to have a thorough medical check-up and be backed up by a sound Medical Certificate. There are obvious physiological limits when functions of vital organs are overstressed due to medical negligence.

  41. we know that u re just bitter…we pray that yo bitterness doesn’t kill u or affect yo health and well -being…we believe and see it that PF will rule far beyond 2016…because u re short sighted u can’t see even gud things no wonder u pray harder that Sata dies even 2day.. remain surprised the man appeared very health and he will be beyond healthier as always been…let us talk development than trivial issues which neither has base nor bring u food on the table! i pitty u

    • gud piece of advice….if all cud think like PF NA 2016 AND BEYOND zambia cud develop..why not borrow HH yo brain???the chap’s brain seem to dwindle on a daily basis

  42. President sata has been playing to the gallery all his political life now the gallery is becoming empty, the polemics of upnd are catching up with him,so his followers are resorting to insults.

  43. The day the opposition lost all credibility is when they insisted on having a leader who reasons like this. What happened to acting like a strong opposition party? Even I who does not reside in Zambia can come up with winning points . If people are fed of the ruling party do you think they will even entertain the thought of bringing in a president like HH? It would be like jumping out of the frying pan into the fire!!! Better the enemy…Zambia is lacking a very strong opposition which is not healthy for democracy. It took a strong opposition party like PF to overthrow MMD!!! As for me I shall now just push for dual citizenship and stay away from all these politics. Instead of people fighting for better health, education and housing they are busy planning a revolt to divide the country.

  44. HOLA …………this is exactly what NAREP and Chipimo are working towards, better education, health, housing etc for all Zambians…..not this kind of politics….NAREP = issued based politics.

  45. I attended BY’s funeral service at the Cathedral of the Child Jesus, heard MCS speak, and had the opportunity to see him at close range as he viewed BY’s body. He may be ailing inside, but from a layman’s perspective, there was nothing I saw that suggested that Sata is terminally sick. The UPND should concentrate on issue – based politics rather than preoccupy themselves with Sata’s health. Their obsession with his health just gives their party a negative image as a party full of ill – will and evil intentions. This will not win them any popularity, but will instead just dent their image.
