FAZ seeks FIFA intervention on Jacobs release

Share

FAZ says it will seek FIFA’s intervention over FC Utrecht’s failure to
release Chipolopolo striker Jacob Mulenga ahead of Zambia’s crucial
2014 World Cup qualifier against Ghana in Kumasi this Friday

The Dutch side say Mulenga is injured.

But FAZ have demanded that Mulenga joins the Chipolopolo squad in
Johannesburg to allow the Zambia medical team to assess him.

In a statement FAZ said.”FAZ is going to seek FIFA’s urgent
intervention over the release of FC Utrecht striker Jacob Mulenga who
until now is still being held by his club and not released for
Zambia’s 2014 FIFA World Cup Qualifier against Ghana on Friday.”

“FC Utrecht are alleging that the player is injured and will therefore
not travel to join the Zambia camp and delegation to Ghana;
disregarding our position and legal right to have the player travel
and be assessed by our own medical team,” FAZ said.

This is not the first time FC Utrecht are refusing to release Mulenga
on account of being injured.

Mulenga has not commented on this development.

  1. This very sad indeed but am sure Ghana has a hand in all this in order to weaken the Zambian striking force, but as Jay said, this story may need a latest update as of now.

    • You guys give Ghana too much power. If Ghana can influence such a decision, how come Zambia is unable to do the same to Ghana? When will we start taking responsibility for our actions instead of blaming others all the time?

    • good point george phiri,
but don’t forget that west africans a naturally crooks of all sorts.
they are capable of doing anything cos they are all over the world and you know that.
in the jacob’s case, its only that his team does not agree to the way their dependable striker is utillised by our tactless coach.

    • Ghana started acting like that when we first wanted to play Zimbabwe in the CHAN. The match that was abandoned that the referees failed to arrive in time.

  2. Is FIFA acting corrupt again? why dont we protest for a change to campaign for a clean organisation, am starting to believe fifa is like the zambian police, school drop outs and grade sevens who behave like scavenging dogs, oh wait a minute….. isnt this the organisation with only grey haird and bald headed men without females to jointly decide matters of soccer? I almost forgot they are all nothing but greedy angry hynas! By the way, if they can infringe and sleep on our soccer rights by not letting yacob Mulenga play, then they dont deserve to lead this organisation for they are as good as drug lords mtcheeew………….

    • Please define “acting corrupt”…you are either corrupt or not, we all know that FIFA is far from squeaky clean. As for disciplinary issues like this… they are always 80% on point and they do also have set period in which they respond to such issues. So give them time if FC Utrecht is not being truthful they will be punished.

  3. Let me get this straight…Was is it the same “corrupt” FIFA that gave Zambia 3 FREE points to get an edge over Sudan? Were those 3 FREE points also “orchestrated” by the West African “crooks”?

Why isn’t Mulenga himself talking? Has Ghana physically padlocked his mouth? Some of the comments here from Zambian fans are infantile, at best.

    • Spot on…as for Jacob he is in a precarious position he is between a rock and a hard place especially if he is fit – on one side he has his employers who cut his paycheques and on the other there is his country (unfortunately represented by the corrupt empty suits at Football House) so the best thing for him is to be a professional and keep quiet.
Lets also remember these clubs do invest heavily in their players and don’t particularly appreciate the treatment offered to their players by their national medical team as they are too eager to play them for a game even when nursing an injury. Club vs Country tug of war is common in Europe….in the future FAZ should do more; reassure these clubs that their players are in safe hands every time they are released.

  4. This juggling of players has affected our progression for qualification. Even when we were given three points on a silver plate at the expense of Sudan, there is no hope. The big Question now is: Are we going to get the required three points in Ghana considering the blunt attacking force?

  5. If he’s injured, then so be it; if he’s faking injury, then don’t recall him again. We’ll know soon enough when his club plays their next game.

  6. If the black stars tries to force a draw the boys should play the simutowe chitapo chimo formular..remember just a 1-0 in favor of Zambia will make the Chipolopolo to qualify. Also the coach need to feature strikers who able to score and are not known by Ghana i say so bcoz the likes of mayuka & Chris will be highly marked.

    • You don’t bench your star striker beacuse you’re afraid he will be “highly marked”. If you did that your star striker would never feature in any game. The coach has to find a way to get the other players involved (spacing).
