The Law Association of Zambia (LAZ) is today Tuesday September 3rd scheduled to hold a meeting with the Attorney General Mumba Malila as a follow up on the resolutions that emanated from its last Extraordinary General Meeting held on August 24.
The August 24 LAZ AGM, had resolved to maintain that Justice Lombe Chibesakunda is not qualified to hold the office of the country’s Chief Justice and that the association would engage relevant authorities on the issue of filling the vacant position of the country’s Chief Justice.
LAZ president James Banda told Qfm in an interview that the said meeting with the Attorney General, which is the initial measure the association had resolved to use to have the vacant position of the country’ s Chief Justice filled, follows a letter the Association wrote to the Ministry of Justice.
Mr. Banda noted that the letter was sent to the Ministry on the 26th of August last month and the Ministry replied last week to advise the Association on the date to hold the said meeting.
And Mr. Banda has expressed delight that resolutions that the Association’s August 24 AGM had resolved are being followed through at a good pace.
Earlier LAZ had however indicated that it will litigate over on the issue of the vacant position of the country’s Chief Justice if its intended plans to engage relevant authorities on the matter fails.

Mushota could be right here. LAZ should first remove chibesakunda from the LAZ register, the we will know they are doing something. Taking the matter to court, though a good idea, but it will be the same chibesakunda making the judgement
If LAZ can deregister this truant Madam Lombe Chibesakunda from her membership of the Legal Professional Body,then automatically,she cannot be allowed to practice law either as a Judge or Lawyer.If Accountants,Doctors and Engineers can do this with their erring members,what is the problem with LAZ??????

view that the Chief justice is in Office illegally and
she must go. Illegality is unacceptable.

If Dora is finished, why did PF fear to face her in Petauke in the first place. It is clear that Dora has given them sleepless nights. We do not need a rocket scientist to prove that there is desperation and fear in PF. I am not a lawyer but I am pretty sure that the Supreme court’s judgement against Dora is questionable.

these minors ve no legal basis hence blowing their trumpets louder with no meaningful legal advance. Infact its james banda whose illegally occupying the office of laz knowing well he is minor.
I somehow have missed something here, can LAZ educate some of us – in simple terms – why they contend that Honorable Justice Lombe Chibesakunda is NOT fit to hold this esteemed office. I keep hearing the noises and reading about this matter, but I frankly cannot follow. To me this sounds a tad bit hateful…well, without the facts that is!
Laz must state there grounds,is it Age?Alapsed Time frame in the acting capacity, credentials…are they below par?lesser than of Silungwe and Earnest Sakala?
