ZNBC has a shortfall of K 250, 000 to beam the crucial Kumasi World Cup qualifier

The Zambia National Broadcasting Corporation (ZNBC) says it has a shortfall of K250 000 to beam live the Zambia /Ghana FIFA World cup encounter in Kumasi, Ghana.

ZNBC Corporate affairs manager Masuzyo Ndhlovu says the corporation has managed to raise K 400,000 out of the initial K650, 000.

Ndhlovu has appealed to the corporate world to come to the aid of the national broadcaster.

He said once the corporation gets positive feedback from the corporate world it would be able to air the match live on ZNBC TV.

ZANIS Sports reports that the National Television’s Corporate affairs manager said this in an interview ,in Lusaka today.

]Ndhlovu explained that the initial amount for beaming the game live was pegged at K750,000 but after negotiations with Sport five who are the owners of the rights, the amount was slashed to K650,000.

Meanwhile Ndhlovu said the corporation will soon sign a contract with the authorized agent.

He said logistics for the ZNBC crew will be borne by the corporation.

The Black Stars host Zambia in Kumasi next Friday in the two sides’ 2014 FIFA World Cup Group D qualifying decider.

Zambia must beat Ghana next week to advance to the final playoff stage of the Africa zone 2014 FIFA World Cup qualifiers. The Black Stars currently lead Group D on 12 points, one point more than Zambia.

Ghana will be seeking revenge on home ground over Zambia have beaten them in their last two meetings. Meanwhile, Zambia setup base in Johannesburg in readiness for the match this week.

The Chipolopolo Boys beat Ghana 1-0 in the first leg Group D meeting in Ndola on 9 June last year and defeated them five months earlier in the semi-finals of the 2012 Africa Cup of Nations by the same margin in Bata, Equatorial Guinea.

  1. Its just laughable that ZNBC can’t find sponsorship for a live football match in a country where football is the No. 1 sport. They always wait till late and hold the white flag hoping for one of the mining companies to come along and foot the bill…its sheer laziness and incompetence by ZNBC…be creative and innovative in packaging that space to make it attractive to companies.
    Wake up Chibamba and Co!!

    • Spot on…but the gullible Zambian fans don’t know that they think they can win in Ghana how laughable given HR’s appalling away stats.

    • History has it that Zambia does rise to the occasion when it matters the most. This could be one of those times. In the final against Ivory Coast in 2012, many doubted that Zambia had any chance at all.

  2. Hahahahaha Zambia TV is looking for money to telecast a match they have already lost? Don’t waste your time and money, zambians. Ghana already got it all wrapped, huh? You had three free points from FIFA and still trailing behind Ghana? and now for some strange deluded reasons you think you can beat Ghana in Kumasi. you zambians are whack! deluded lunatics hahahahaha

    • Never underrate the Chipolopolo. Even after losing the whole squad in an air crash off the coast of Gabon, Zambia still came in second in the Africa Cup of nations in 1994, narrowly losing to Nigeria 2:1 in the final that year. While Kumasi may be Ghana’s soccer shrine, it could wind-up being the grave-yard of the Black Stars this Friday.

    • Zambia performs well in such instances . Let’s wait and see. Some writeups here are misplaced. Learn to be objective and be positive .

    • What an *****ic comment; Ghana has lost to Zambia twice in a row. If this was a foregone conclusion, why does Ghana feel they have to strengthen their squad by recalling their so called European based “stars”? This will be a tight game.

    • I believe you but what you should know is we want to watch win or not. It is like exam you have to have positive attitude. If you not a soccer fan let soccer fan watch. For znbc they need to know how to make money

  3. We will lose this game. Aint no way we can come out with a win out of Kumasi. I think they will cane us 2 : 0…. Sorry but don’t shoot the messenger. We have no one to blame but ourselves… we should have canned Lesotho and Sudan home and away.

  4. “Ndhlovu has appealed to the corporate world to come to the aid of the National Broadcaster” This Ndhlovu guy is the Corporate Manager for ZNBC.In what environment is this thing operating in,as a corporate entity or as a Government wing or waste still a charity,Change your mindset you incompetent goons there and operate as a Corporate entity, too much begging shamelessly

  5. GHANA has already won this game. FIFA should just award the three points to GHANA accordingly. Why waste money. That money can go and build a block at some UNIVERSITY

  6. Zambia has a psychological edge over Ghana. The Black Stars are scared of Chipolopolo. This is fact. Don’t you be people be so negative. Zambia is one of the greatest teams, if not the greatest, on this continent even though they are underrated. They need moral boosters not condemnations and malicious attacks. This is the very attitude that can work against and cause them to under perform. If they go into this game believing they haven’t got a chance, it will be a self-fulfilling prophecy. They might as well just surrender and save money and time. Remember the frightening build up Senegal enjoyed at AFCON? But the star studded team was humiliated and trashed by our boys. This performance will be repeated in Kumasi.

  7. Am I knocking my head against a brick wall? Is it only me who can’t understand this reporting? LT, please sort out your reporting or employee credible people with journalism certifications. This article is pretty misleading. When is the game and what time? I quote you ” The Black Stars host Zambia in Kumasi next Friday in the two sides’ 2014 FIFA World Cup Group D qualifying decider.
Zambia must beat Ghana next week to advance to the final playoff stage of the Africa zone 2014 FIFA World Cup qualifiers. The Black Stars currently lead Group D on 12 points, one point more than Zambia.” Going by this passage, you are saying the game will next Friday and then the next paragraph says Chipolopolo are in SA in preparation for the game this week!! Please use dates if it’s that hard…

  8. <<<<<<<>>>>>>>

The Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi will host Ghana’s last Group D match in the qualifying for the 2014 FIFA World Cup against Zambia.

Both sides will go head to head in the second round fixture for a place in the third round of the African qualifiers.

According to the Ghana Football Association, the match will be played on Friday, 6th September, 2013. Kick off will be at 1600GMT.

The Black Stars lead the Group D standing on 12 points, thus one point ahead of Zambia ahead of the final fixture.

Keep it short, compact and factual. Use dates when not sure. Not bulya bushiku pa chibelushi nomba bulya bwankonkapo elyo tu kateya umupila…. isukulu bane telyakwangalisha. Mwatesha???

  9. Next Friday, next fridayyyyy!!! The game is THIS Friday 06/Sep/2013. I would have missed this game for your poor reporting. Remove the article and change it before re-posting. 11. True story! ok I take that back – ‘true dream’ As a little boy of about 10 or 12 I had this vivid dream that I had gone o Brazil. I had no Brazilian friends in Zambia but of all countries in the world I was teleported to Brazil in the wonderful world of dreaming. This happened many many years ago. I am not sure what I had gone to do in Brazil but there I was in Sambaland. Might have stemmed from my profound love for geography as I could precisely draw the world map and include all major cities and their positioning on the world map @ 10. I feel this dream is about to manifest itself in 2014 when I plan to follow my painful yet beloved Zambia to Brazll the land of my dream many years ago. We await fate and revelations. 3ways to get there…Zambia in/out England in/out Deautscland in/out

  12. What about our only TV levy?Image a situation whereby 8 Million Zambians a paying TV Levy at K3.00 and ZNBC are still asking for more money from well wisher In Zambian,Why is it like this? Now let me ask,Where has the money gone?

  16. Just ask Liwewe to go and give us a radio commentary from Kumasi, he can use a Motorola phone which u can carry live on ZNBC radio two and four… “over to youuu Ponga……!!! thank you Dennis….. 17. … Mayuka makes hoops and takes on 3 fat Ghanain defenders and he leaves them in the dust. Go Mayuka go, the keeper leaves his post but Mayuka lobs him as as the ball slots in top right corner – Zambia draws first blood!

  18. Mwayamba ukutumpa ba fyacitile ba ZNBC What do you mean shortfall when we always pay tv licence and its not always you sponsor matches ba call lwe.Just show this one or else nalazanda

  19. Question to the the football fraternity. There is Dennis Liwewe, Ponga Liwewe and I forget the other guy…very light skinned handsome Tonga man as commentators. Do you remember him? What’s his name? Dominic….Mulai…. can’t remember and my head is troubled – you know how it is when you can picture someone but can’t put a name to them. Get me out this feeling. We used to share a drink together around the UTH area when Mosi was in ration. Bad old days!!

  20. Just thinking out loud and lol….ing!
How can a star be black? The Ghana football national team are called “Black Stars”
Unless ‘star’ is being used as of a genius talent for all of them which I doubt. Help. These stars are deem in the night and an eyesore in broad daylight therefore, we can reach out for the moon and show them that football is best played at the Disaster National Stadium – lol…ing. Made in Africa (MIA)

  21. I’m Kwabena from Ghana.I pity the Zambians soccer players and the entire Zambian FA for loosing the chance in qualifying for the FIFA WORLD CUP in Brazil. You’ve already lost to Ghana. You didn’t make good use of the three points given to you from the Sudan home again, drawing home and away as well.Don’t ever dream of wining in Kumasi. Ghanaians don’t underrate Zambians but you are never going to win.You better keep your monies and go for a live radio commentary

  22. Maybe you are talking about mwanamudala Marcha Chilemena. I agree those three were naturally talented football commentators.

  23. This is the same thing that the police on Zambian roads do to motorists, and for them you call it corruption. Tell me the difference pliz!!!
