Public workers should know PF party manifesto – Kasanda

Deputy Secretary to Cabinet, Peter Kasanda, has challenged civil servants in Mwinilunga district to familiarize themselves with the Patriotic Front (PF) manifest if they are to effectively implement Government policies.

Ambassador Kasanda said civil servants are key drivers in pushing government developmental agenda forward through effective translation and implementation of policies as stipulated in the PF political party manifesto.

The Deputy Secretary to the Cabinet was speaking in Mwinilunga yesterday during a meeting with heads of government departments.

Ambassador Kasanda urged the civil servants in the district to be professional in their execution of duty by adhering to the civil service code of conduct, adding that these are important values every civil servant must abide by.

He appealed to the workers to be loyal to the government of the day and ensure that they put the interests of people they save first.

“We must all embrace a culture of hard work if this country is to develop. It is only ourselves who can develop this country and nobody else, so let us not leave this duty to government alone,” he advised.

Meanwhile, Ambassador Kasanda has asked the Public Service Commission to conduct an inventory to identify civil servants who have overstayed in areas they are operating from and see a way forward, adding that transfers are an important part for personal improvement in the civil service.

Ambassador Kasanda observed that when people over-stay in one place inertia comes in and develop an attitude of work to rule, hence the need to expose such workers to other new working environment through transfers.

Speaking during the same meeting Provincial Permanent Secretary, Augustine Seyuba, said his office stands ready to protect the interests of all civil servants in the province.

Mr Seyuba said the provincial administration has an open door policy and urged the workers to resolve all challenges being faced in their operation through his office.

Earlier, Mwinilunga District Commissioner, Masela Sekeseke, said the district is faced with many challenges, among them inadequate health workers and sporadic supply of medicines at the district hospital.

Mrs Sekeseke further stated that access to secondary school education by pupils in the district has been another challenge as children are forced to travel long distances to camp as weekly boarders, a situation she said has contributed greatly to unwanted pregnancies among young girls.

She said such pupils rent out small houses for themselves and stay without parental care making them more vulnerable to bad behaviours.

The Deputy Secretary to the Cabinet and his high power delegation are in the district to inspect government funded developmental projects and to check on progress made in the implementation of such projects.

    • That PF manifesto was centered around removing the MMD. It mentions MMD 80+ times in 48 pages. When you look at it, you feel sorry for Zambia. Yaba!

  1. Civil servants following a party manifesto? I thought party members in government(and not party cardres) should use their manifesto to put up policies that civil servants will follow and impliment?
