MMD President Nevers Mumba has dismissed assertions that he has of late taken a soft stance towards President Michael Sata.
Dr Mumba said he still does not agree with the leadership style of President Sata.

Dr Mumba was recently photographed shaking hands and chatting with President Sata inside the Cathedral of the Holy Cross during an Independence thanksgiving church service.

The MMD leader has also publicly stated that the country’s opposition party will attend all state functions such as Independence Day and Africa Freedom Day.

[pullquote]By shunning such a day, we are allowing the PF to hijack a day of national symbol[/pullquote]

He was speaking Thursday morning when he featured on a live Hot Seat radio programme on Hot FM.

“This perception that if Nevers Mumba greets Mr Sata then he is crossing over to the PF is total fabrication. These are the politics of the old which we must change as Zambia enters the year of the Jubilee,” Dr Mumba said.

“We were in Church at the Cathedral, a place of healing and we only spoke for a few minutes. The President asked how I was doing, he asked about my wife and I equally asked him how he was. Nothing more, nothing less.”

Dr Mumba said he joined politics to change the perception that politics is a dirty game and only to be practiced by dirty people.

“When July 4th comes around in the US, everybody from the Republicans and the Democrats removes their party colours and they all rally for the nation. This is the spirit we need to cultivate as nation as we enter the year of the Jubilee.”

“Am not looking for a job from Mr Sata, I was serving in Canada as a civil servant when he became Head of State and I never bothered to negotiate for a job then and I don’t want a job from him today, these are mere lies and they should be dismissed. I came back from Canada and fought hard to become President of the MMD because I wanted to fix things in this country.”

“Independence Day is not for Mr Sata, this is not the day for the PF. This is the day we pay homage to the Kapwepwes, the Kaunda, the Nkumbulas and the Chikamonekas and all the gallant men and women who fought for this great nation. By shunning such a day, we are allowing the PF to hijack a day of national symbol,” Dr Mumba said.

Dr Mumba added, “As the MMD, we want to bring about a new breed of politics in this nation. We will not allow Mr Sata and the PF to take away all that we have achieved as a nation. We will continue reclaiming our liberties and our freedoms.”

This further shows that you are wise Ba Nevers. How i wish the young Ichilema can follow your example.Keep it up ,maybe i might even return to MMD after Sata quits politics.I will weigh options between you and Chipimo.Thumbs up !!!

This further shows that you are wise Ba Nevers. How i wish the young HH can follow your example.Keep it up ,maybe i might even return to MMD after Sata quits politics.I will weigh options between you and Chipimo.Thumbs up !!!

    • This is a clear sign of defeat and failure to provide checks, due to financial contraints and court cases, look at the grade 7 type of media statement from Dora is that seriousness? The opposition’s duty must be to hammer remorselessly, Chellah still hasn’t responded to the pay rise, why/ GUILTY as charged!

    • ba mumba, your tactics are not new to us. this same ‘just a greeting, once upon a time happened somewhere in the mwanawasa era. the resultant was visible for everyone to see. whatever you are being promised now just bear in mind that you are now dealing with deceivers, donch kubeba. well l wish you all the success in you gymnastics

    • between you and me, who is more kaponya, the insulting or the insulted?

    • ba matipa please…

    • Ba Billy Oneya, you belong to the politics of yester year.Sata shud not set standard for our Zambian politics. For once, let’s’s do the right thing and do away with politics of bitterness, vegeance and hatred.Dr Mumba wants to bring civility to our zambian Politics.VIVA NEVERS,VIVA MMD.Zambia Shall Be Saved.

    • HH is always misled by characters like you. Please if you really want your HH to win any future elections, let him grow up and stop playing gallery or media politics.Always trying to please pipo who can’t win him any election.Dr Mumba, keep it up.You are being national in charater and showing that you can unite the country.

    • @ Bo sipopa bukala bwenu, HH grew up when he made it from the village into town with pangs of poverty on his shoulders, ammassed degrees and translated it into wealth which your father with his comforts could not do,who can’t vote for such an icon? only bustards like you

  3. does being in the opposition mean that those in power become your sworn enemies?
come on guys learn to work together for the betterment of our country after all you are all zambians.
    well spoken nevers.
    on this one… walasa.

    • ba LT,,,,you also…
what is there to moderate in my post when you are busy accepting and posting insults from perpetual losers?
are you in a silent agreement with the watch imbwa?

    • @ Mature, it goes with the behaviour of those in power.if they are intoxicated with it snd start behaving stupidily why associate with them? because under sane circumstances,HH can not stand on a platform with characters like kambwili, shamenda, mwenya musengeand including the big fossil himself.so come 2016 idddiots like you wont again influence the nation to vote for mentally lame characters like was the case last time

    • iwe boyi,Haleisa Haleisa is not a jumper like nevers mumba, don’t be surprised if you hear that tommorrow he is made ambassador to haiti

  4. Get things organised with your MPs. We need strong arguments. Honour us also the men and women who fought for democracy in 1990, our friends were shot dead by KK police along the great east road if know what i mean.
Do something, we are saffering. this not we fought for in 1990 to 1991

  5. Intentions are hidden behind sweet words.
Never Mumba, a man purported to be of god, but close to satan.
Auditor General office has finished the audit of Ottawa office of our high commission and all evidences are there now to pin you down for stealing/unaccounted dollars for donation for the government.

You are buying time to wriggle out of your mess and handing over power back to RB. Thank you Mr. Sata for making RB a strong contender to take over from you, and for that matter pretty soon. RB lost elections for letting Chiluba go off the hook. You have done the same with Katele Kalumba (delaying judgment) and now negotiating with Nevers and Dora. You gave bank back to money launderer Mahtani and brought in Chikopa to protect Nchito.

I am campaigning for Rupiah to come back to…

    • Lolypop, for yo own information, the Auditor General audited Ottawa three times even before Dr Mumba came back. They found nothing. They’re fishing in the dark.Only useful idoiots will believe there concotion story and evidence.

    • @llolypop. stop dreaming my brother. Rupiah Banda is never coming back to politics because he risks losing his emoluments. The man is 76 and has enough troubles already. Get real and don’t put your faith in a wrong place.. RB is not going to come back to politics because he has much to lose.

  6. That is how he also chatted with Levy Mwanawasa a week before he crossed over to MMD as Vice President effectively putting to rest the Christian Coalition Party. MMD watchout!!!!!!!!

  7. Well said Dr Mumba, and that’s how it should be, unfortunately HH and UPND can not see sense in what Mumba has said.

  8. Thank you president Sata for changing our work ethic, Thank you Dr. Pastor Mumba for speaking, and thank you HH for fighting for our economy. may the LORD JESUS be praised always.

  9. That is how politicians must behave, except this is from Mr mumba. Mr. mumba has a lot to learn from politics apart from a piece of cake. i end my part with love and love

  10. Dr. Pastor Mumba. In the USA politicians are mature. Sitting Presidents don’t go to public functions to brag about “Roads and Infrastructure they have done in two years”. They don’t go there to shout at the opposition.

They go to talk about the people of the USA.

Up until we have the “Government and its party” and not the PARTY and Its Government” I will always support HH in shunning such functions.

Let and SATA PF do more governing than Politicking.”

  11. We don’t want to know the details. But twaumfwa ulinefwe. You will learn a lot more by working with the government in power than alienating yourself like UPND. Both you, Nevers Mumba and HH have never worked in government or the civil service. Both of you have no idea about what people want because you have always been privileged. For now, focus on learning.

  12. The PF soap opera is about to shock everybody including Kabimba ad GBM. Look closely at the two leaders shaking hands. Sata is realy talking to somebody out their (PF and the nation) . The person he is greeting doesn’t seem to be his primary concern at this juncture. What is he saying you ask me??? “Behold my successor,” all in clear tones. All Mumba is saying is, “Oh, man, I don’t even have words to express my thanks to you for this gesture.” Ever seen a thankful dog wagging it’s tail at the joy of meeting it’s master? Watch this space!

  13. Sensible and mature words from the pastor. Also interesting to note that he went into the so called “dirty game” of politics to make a difference.
I believe the players may come clean but sadly, they are forced to abide by the dirty rules of the game, which include dishonesty and crafty manouevres. Most leaders become seduced by power, as they get overawed by their own importance. Hence the phrase: “power corrupts, and absolute power corrupts absolutely.”

  14. ….if Mumba and the likes are attending for the sake of freedom fighters, to bring new crop of politics then Mumba and the likes must not take offence if their MPs are appointed D/Ministers for the sake of Zambians they will save…Mumba and the Lusambos must not be bitter or take offence when their members cross over to other parties just to demonstrate the so called ‘new breed of politics’….
…this comparison of Zed and USA is sickening….how do u compare a mango and cassava..?…have u ever heard of Bush being persecuted because of the illegal war in Iraq…locked up for visiting a chief in Alabama or a market in Florida…?…come-on Mumba we are not kids…..u are doing that not as MMD but for personal something something…

    • I agree with your comments 100%. My opinion of Mumba’s thinking and resolve to rescue us from this Ukwa night mare has just taken a major nose dive. He might as well join the old dictator KK singing embarrassing praises for Ukwa like he did today in Kitwe.

  15. How wonderful to be wise,to analyze and interpret things .wisdom lights up a person’s face, softening its harshness. Ecclesiastes 8:1

  16. Zambians have a short memory really. They have forgotten that when HH tried to attend some of these functions , funerals etc in the past he was linched in full view of the police. Then he learnt what type of politics PF understands better. Not what Nevers is telling us. He is digging his own grave.

  17. Nice One to both of you. Now you are showing leadership. Other political leaders should emulate this. Noti ifya ba HH and the crew. This is true leadership from Both President Sata and Nevers. Kudos to you

  18. Never about to dump mmd for pf. He has been bought he is like a commodity and this not the first time this has happened. Politics of the belly.
You can tell when you pf post start covering an opposition leader in positive way know that they is something going on.

  19. Well said Dr Mumba, institutions of presidency should be for anyone befitting,,if Dr Mumba pleases to be vise president to replace the ailing scote I would view that as a good move,,,GMB & his friend Kabwamba ninshi ya luka,,,PF MMD merger towards elections can be interesting and more development in sight..kaingo be mindful anything is possible..

  20. People forget about Hakaivotela heka , the chap stole from us ZCCM Privitasation,Lima Bank, honestly does this chap think he can get votes from Copperbelt,Luapula, Northen and Eastern,Muchinga provinces? One thing Lwazi Mulimo the girl friend to HH forgets is how did your boy friend HH assume the UPND leadership ? Using tribe to unseat Sikota. Unless and i emphasize , UPND finds an untribal leader , they willl never rule Zambia

    • You must be from mars because the current pf wrangles are about tribalism in that party. Pf is a tribal party. This is what the partys’ SG says.

  21. Well said Dr Mumba you are free to contest any position of your choice anywhere in Zambia under any party of your choice you are a Zambian that’s the meaning of democracy,PF is looking tricky with the white and Kabwamba leaving, they need the likes of Dr Mumba to organize the party….wise sentiments from Dr Mumba.

  22. Its Childish and utter nonsense to think Nevers Mumba should not even talk to the current president. You people need to understand democracy and its all about living with differences in opinion. Nevers can even have dinner with The president and yet differ on how to run the counrty. They are on opposing ends of the political arena and not enemies. Please people grow up and give credit where its due. This is what we want of our politicians and right now Nevers and Chipimo seem to be going the right way.Well done Mr Mumba this is what we need to be seeing more of.

  23. Dr Mumba, though I do not support you, on this one you are 100% correct. If you continues practicing clean politics, I can assure you that many swing voters can vote for you come 2016.

Peace and Prosperity to Mother Zambia.

  24. YES NEVERS IS SOFTENING VERY FAST AFTER HE MADE ADVERSE REMARKS ON THE PRESIDENT LAST MONTH. I AM SURE HE HAS RELALISED THAT HE DONT SOFTEN UP THE DOORS AT THE COUNTRY’S TOP HOTEL ARE AWAITING TO WELCOME HIM. NI WULOFWA OR JUST NEEDS PUBLIC ATTENTION.

  25. Haleya Haleya Sata mu 2016. All Zambians know what awaits a former president after their tenure in office. Especially the one who has broken the laws of the land from the start, fake promises, tribal forest, corruption without end…the list goes on. Shielding ministers involved in corrupt practices eg exporting govt trophies of ivory to China through office abuse and diplomatic scheming with foreigners. Records and witnesses are available. Haleya haleya ku Chimbokaila.

  26. Congrats Dr Mumba and MMD. That’s the maturity we need in politics. PF misbehaved a lot when in opposition. Do not follow their bad example. Remember when MMD was in govt. it expected opposition leaders to attend national events. So rise above petty politics and do just that

    • Dr Mumba is being consistent by attending celebrations, he has scored on
this move,,some of us are beginning to view him differently.
