Beston blames Nkana for “Konkola War”

Share

Konkola Blades coach Beston Chambeshi says Nkana supporters should be blamed for two team’s abandoned FAZ Super League match in Chililabombwe on Sunday.

Kabwe referee Wisdom Chewe was forced to halt this match after fighting erupted between Konkola and Nkana supporters in the stands.

The home team was leading 1-0 late in the second half before Chewe stopped the Week 27 fixture at Konkola Stadium.

“I think it was a planned thing from the way I see it. I think it was Nkana who did the whole thing but we shall wait and see for the report from the referee and match commissioner,” Chambeshi said.

“It’s the Nkana supporters you have seen the way they have behaved. It is up to the match commissioner to find a solution but the game was posted with three minutes to go,” the ex-Nkana skipper added.

Humphrey Maseneko gave Konkola a 15th minute lead when he converted from the sport after his team mate Lazarous Kambole was alleged fouled in the box.

Meanwhile, MultiChoice and SuperSport have condemned the hooliganism witnessed at Konkola Stadim.

“This is completely unacceptable in our football. It does not do us nor the image of our football any good when we have fans invading the pitch and others throwing missiles,” Multi Choice Public Relations Manager Marlon Kananda said.

“We condemn this in the strongest possible terms. We are confident that the Football Association of Zambia and all stakeholders will help sensitize the football loving fans on the importance of upholding pitch and terraces,” Kananda added.

  1. FAZ are to blame .The ground is big, surely they could have restricted the Nkana supporters to one side.We all know that Nkana supporters are hooligans.

    • Uku kubatumpika you are even saying that Nkana supporter are hooligans, just ban the team to bring sanity in the zambian league. why should the same team continue misbehaving. why don’t hear this from other teams’ supporters. If you are not happy with the performance deal with your own team

    • They can’t ban a team for supporters behavior . In fact there is no proof that it was Nkana supporters who started the fracas ! Konkola supporters are equally fanatical and they definitely outnumbered Nkana supporters !
Recently Power supporters ( and an official ) beat up a ref ! Zanaco supporters also wanted to beat up a ref recently and were only stopped by Keegan Mumba !
Please get all your facts right before waffling nonsense like this !

  2. konkola blades were to blame how can they go to the supporters who are on the losing side to provocal them and how can konkola blades have less than 10 policemen in a hgh match like this, also REFEREE CHEWE IS A COWARD the few minutes remaining was not worth to stop

  3. Nkana supporters hooligans. What do you expect from someone from Wusakile.FAZ must punish Nkana by making them play all remaining games away from home and the scoreline must stand. They have embarrased the country’s soccer fraternity after the succesive hosting of the senior COSAFA games .

    • Soccer analyst my Foot!!! where you there at the stadium??? Call us what ever you want we play and support with heart. The only reason this happened is because the Kokola Blades supporters didn’t expect us to behave they came armed. One of their supporters was beaten in a fight by a fellow Blades fan they all assumed he was Nkana and the attacked our stand…what do you expect they ended up bringing out the devil in us. Replay or no replay Red is thecolour of my blood red is the colour of my team Kalampa for Life

  4. People are quick at judging. I was there and took videos of the chaos at this stadium. Truth of the matter is that there was no security at the stadium apart from the 2 female police constables I saw. We began seeing police after fans were injured. Some police were in civil for God’s sake. I’m neither Konkola nor Nkana but Security please. And I thought Nkana fans were more attacked. Call me for pics and I’ll send you.

  5. @ LAHLEE think b4 U utter senselessly, banning Nkana will only result in Zambian football league to collapse. Nkana is a backbone of Zambian league whether U believe it or not. Nkana’s return in the super league have awaken the interest of Zambian people to watch local league games and teams have recorded high turnover from gate takings. @ BISHOP NCEE is sport on ‘Konkola blades were to blame how can they go to the supporters who are on the losing side to provoke them. Us Nkana fans . Nkwazi beat us 1 – 0 in a poorly officiated match and yet no hooliganism was witnessed which shows how Nkana fans have reformed, but when one is attacked he/she has to fight back back in self defense. NKANA 4 LIFE.

  6. Your hatred for Nkana wont work, we are the 11 times league champions and the 12th title is looming and imminent. I think FAZ should let the 1 – 0 score line to stand coz I believe Konkola Blades played well and deserve the 3 points from that game. However we are getting the maximum points needed to be crowned the 12th title. Nalelo ba Nkana ba winner!

  7. MY GAME IS A FARE PLAY. LAST SEASON I WENT TO KONKOLA STDIUM TO WATCH THE GAME BETWEEN NKANA & K/BLADES. SITTED IN THE VIP STANDS NEAR THE NKANA SUPPORTERS WHOSE TEAM WERE TRAILING TO BLADES, WE WITTINESSED THE THROWING OF MESILES FROM THE NKANA SUPPORTERS TO THEIR TECHNICAL BENCH AND LATER ON TO US SUCH THAT WE HAD VACATE THE STANDS FOR OUR SAFETY. FELLOW BRETHREN WHAT IS YOUR TAKE?

  8. do nt 4 get not long ago our striker kelvin mubanga was beaten in full view of the combined zambia and mine police.honestly did u expect nkana supporters not to defend themselves this time around?FAZ plse get to the root of this matter consindering that all these teams are under KCM
