A 47-YEAR-OLD man of Kasama has been arrested for being in possession of obscene materials on his laptop.

Daniel Thomet, who was allegedly purporting to be a tourist, was found in possession of obscene materials on his laptop carrying his image while having carnal knowledge of a girl who is yet to be identified by the police.

Police acting spokesperson Rae Hamoonga said the incident happened between June 2013 at an unknown date and time and September 11, 2013 at 19:00 hours in Chishipula area in Kasama.

“The suspect has since been charged with being in possession of obscene materials and will appear in court soon,” Mr Hamoonga said.

Meanwhile, Police in Mufulira has launched a manhunt for three unknown people that gang raped a 43-year- old woman and left her unconscious.

The victim was allegedly gang raped by the three men who had joined her during a drinking spree and later attacked her after leaving the drinking place.

Copperbelt acting Police Chief Joyce Kasosa confirmed the incident which happened last weekend.

Ms Kasosa explained that the woman went for a drink and was approached by three men who started drinking with her.

The woman left the drinking place after 23:00 hours and it was believed that she was followed by the same men she was drinking with who hit her on the head and later took turns in raping her.

Ms Kasosa said the victim who sustained a deep cut on the head was found unconscious by passerby who reported the matter to the police.

The victim is currently admitted at Ronald Ross Hospital.

    • @Dojo.
I do need reasoning. There are issues we do not yet, but at 23 hours(woman). No. why did she asked those guys to escort her? when drinking was she showing sexual desires to the men. Was she always know that she reckless slept with other men around? So sifunila inzi

    • I agree with Dojo Do: Your reasoning is seriously in need of help…
Read the story again! It does not say that she asked the men to escort her. The story does not even say that she was showing sexual desires for them. Looking at your poor writing skills, i think your understanding is also poor.

    • It does not matter what time it was and the reasons for the drinking, forcing yourself on a woman must not happen regardless of the situation. I wonder why people have sunk so long, never heard about the wild animals raping each other but humans raping them instead! Please Zambian do not bring these crimes in Zambia as is the case in India! Disgusted

  1. Must be a PF cadre. With wife beating, multiple lovers and siring bastard kids they are used to being at the opposite end of the moral spectrum.

    • Your kidding, right?

It sounds like your idea of “dudelove” is to believe men are entitled to behave as animals and that any woman deserves to be raped (certainly does not deserve sorrow!) if she happens to go out for a drink. Shame on you!

Since your parents did not teach you this, rape is about violence and is wrong. Full stop.

  2. quiet alright she was drinking at 23hrs, now use your brains, dont you think its important to have a mature society where someone can have a drink at 23hrs without being victimized? look att he bigger picture before you comment! just because she was drinking at 23hrs, it doesnt give any reason for those men to do what they did

    • if she was having prayers we can sympathies now drinking, as a man of God never can i pray for a civilized society that can drinking at 23hrs over my dead body

  3. Too bad for the lady. However, she should thank GOD that she is alive and this should be her turning point in life. Such drinking habit is not good as it put her in a vulnerable position whch her drinkmates capitalised on and am sure it was a well planned move as she seem to be well known for such bad drinking habit.

    • What makes you think she had a bad drinking habit??.

I do agree with you that it would have been prudent to have someone trustworthy escort or pick her up since it was dark. Or take a taxi.

However she has every right to drink at whatever hour she pleases and however often she wants. It’s her choice, no turning point needed. The rapists though should reach a turning point when the handcuffs are slapped on them and their arseholes become the playground of more seasoned rapists in prison.

  4. So how was that man found with obscene material? did the police stop him on the street and demanded to see what was on his laptop? was it a tip off from the public?

    • Good point, Saulosi. In fact if that matter is handled badly the Thomet might end up a millionaire by accident. I suppose that could be a privately captured video of himself that perhaps was not even broadcast to anyone. I am sure there are laws protecting the privacy of individuals in our nation? Strange things happen in the privacy of one’s environs – should those be ‘broadcast’ that is when laws can kick in… Even “possession” should have a legal qualifier.

    • They are saying it’s a girl. Are they implying she’s under age? It will be understandable if the “girl” is a minor but if it was a concenting adult, I must say Zambian judiciary needs to grow up and learn from the ZICAS girl debacle where they were made to look foolish in the eyes of the world.

  5. What the F*** is wrong for a woman to go have a nice time at at night and go home at what ever time she feels like? She had all the right to do and go wherever wanted and dean right.

    • @Vic, the point is everyone agrees that raping is barbaric but in our sick society, when you start having your nice time at 23hrs, your exposure to vices like rape, mugging or being killede is very high. Its like going into compounds like Chibolya in Lusaka or Nkandabwe in Kitwe at mid-night because you have the freedom of movement; I bet you’ll come out dead!

  6. Is it wrong to drink up to 23 hours? the most important thing is:criminals such as the ones who raped her are not needed in our society

  7. If we lived in a society that was mature there would be no issues with even drinking till 02hrs but the our current society entails that protective measure are instituted to avoid such rape cases.eg ask escortees, retire early or drink from home.

  8. In drinking places in certain places, there is a tacit agreement that when you join man or men and start gulping their beer, you have agreed to pay the bearer on demand, so unfortunately, that may be how these guys took it and the woman leaving without settling her part of the contract was a breach!!!

Drinking with men uo to 23 hours?????

    • I feel sorry for you to have such an awful upbringing that you think having a drink with a woman gives you the right to force violence on her. Even worse that this is fully understood and that no one (least of all a woman) should expect otherwise…. if she drinks, she must open her legs or be forced to and this is just OK. Right?

Get it through your thick, misogynistic head, little boy: sex and r’ape are not the same thing! One is about love (or at least pleasure) and the other is about violence pure and simple. Shame that you want to justify violence! Truly, you embarass yourself and others who are actual men to spread such assnine thoughts.

    • [email protected] you are a top drawer human being, this Sansamukeni guy is a joke. i wonder how many women have paid him in kind for buying them beer.
The woman was drinking alone and these three criminals joined her not the woman joining these losers. My hope is that she did not contract any STI and the three losers end up in prison danm them.

  9. there is evrything wrong with a woman going home at 23 without having made prior arrangements of her logistics.it says she was alone, then got invited 2 join the goons.obviously she was flirting and then one of the guys got carried away! foolish me,lelo naziletelela!

  10. I don’t see why people are looking for justification for this act. The shame and scars this woman has to bare are huge. And if she contracts an STI?
This is something we dont want to happen to our sisters and mothers, no matter what state they are in.

  11. You guys seem to have missed the dude and the laptop. He too is sweating his wrong choices. How did they know he was queer? Did they have a warrant or probable reason to mess with his laptop. Say something. Sorry for the woman though, in these says of AIDS, you would think people would know.
