Sports minister Chishimba Kambwili has described the 2013 sportng season as a disaster.
Kambwili said the only bright spot all year came when the Shepolopolo Under-17 qualifying for the 2014 FIFA Under-17 Womens World Cup in Costa Rica.
“This year has been disastrous 2013 has not been very bad in terms of overall performance,” Kambwili said.
“There could be one or two like the Under-17 girls but when you take all the tournaments that we participated in as a country we performed below expectation.
“You look at the just ended swimming it was disaster, the Under-20 boys knocked out of Cosafa, Zambia didn’t qualify to the World Cup, Cecafa, we didn’t do well, the rugby tournament we didn’t do well.
“But my message to all sports association is to wake and up and start organizing sports in a manner that is acceptable.”
