Nkana lose again

Share

Nkana suffered their second successive preseason defeat this afternoon in Kitwe after going down 2-1 in a friendly against DR Congo side Don Bosco.

The two sides went into the break scoreless at Arthur Davies Stadium.

However, Nkana had the better chances in the opening half with Ronald Kampamba heading wide in the 18th and later had another effort cleared off the line in the 39th minute after beating two defenders.

In-between, Don Bosco’s Zimbabwe striker Darryl Nyandoro’s saw his 31st minute shot saved by Charles Mweemba.

Francis Kombe then produced what would be the miss of the day in the 60th minute after Kampamba placed the ball in his path but he hesitated in front of an inviting goalmouth before goalkeeper Ernest Sowah regroup to parry the close-range shot.

Don Bosco then took the lead in the 67th minute through Tresor Kayanda before Christopher Semakweri added the visitors second goal in the 84th minute after capitalising on a poor clearance by Christopher Munthali to fire in an unstoppable shot from outside the box.

Nkana’s consolation goal came in the 88th minute when man-of-the-match Kampamba laid the ball off for Simon Bwalya to slot in the ball just outside the six yard box.

The loss was Nkana’s second after just two practice matches played so far in 2014 following last Thursday’s 1-0 loss to Mamelodi Sundowns at the same venue in another international club friendly.
