Barotse petition allegedly sends jitters in the PF Government

Share

Dear Editor,

Please find attached an article about a meeting that took place at State house to scheme against the process of finding a peaceful solution to the Barotseland impasse. I will appreciate if you can
publish this article to expose this dirty scheme.
regards,
Concerned Lozi

The Zambian Government is said to be gripped by shivers and jitters since receiving the 258 page document of Forensic Evidence and Arguments from The African Commission for Human and Peoples Rights ACHPR earlier submitted by Barotseland to the commission. The Government is expected to respond to the Evidence and Arguments within a period that is believed to lapse on Saturday 22nd February, 2014.

The Sata led PF Government switched into panic mode this week as they realised that the time is slipping away without any tangible progress towards their response to the commission.

On Monday 17th February, 2014 the Litunga of Barotseland was air lifted from an unknown place in Barotseland (Most likely Kaoma) to State House for a crucial meeting the same day. The meeting was also attended by the president Mr Michael Chilufya Sata, first republican president Dr. Kenneth Kaunda, UNIP Cowboy Sikota Wina, former Induna Ingangwana Mr Nyambe Mwenda and Solister General Mr Mumba Malila.

The main agenda for this emergency meeting was to find ways to halt the matter that is now before the ACHPR which is based in Banjul, The Gambia.

The Litunga Lubosi Imwiko II is reported to have not minced his words during the meeting but clearly stated that the matter is far beyond him and there is nothing that he could do because it is in the hands of the people since in Barotseland power is with the people. He said that it is up to the political establishment and powers that be to find a way of swaying the opinion in Barotseland so that the people can have a change of heart and rescind their resolve to accept the Zambian Government’s abrogation of the Barotseland Agreement 1964 to consequently determine their own destiny, independent of the Republic of Zambia.

The Government team at the meeting expressed utter surprise at the depth of the 258 paged document of ‘Evidence and Arguments’ which was in Government hands and accused the Litunga to have aided in the compilation of this document with input from files from the palace to which the Litunga replied that he has no such files at the palace and he is equally amazed at the wealth of information contained in the document.

The ‘Judas Iscariot’ duo of Sikota Wina and Nyambe Mwenda was then tasked to venture into Barotseland to try and work their magic to convince the people of Barotseland to rethink the Banjul issue and give the Zambian Government a chance. The two who are well known for their love for ‘Thirty pieces of Silver’ reluctantly accepted the challenge pointing out that the errand is an extremely dangerous venture and cannot be done openly but some strategy to disguise the operation must be muted.

A proposal was floated at the meeting to have Hon Clement Wainyae Sinyinda re-arrested since he is in the fore front of pushing this petition, but the Solicitor General, Mr Mumba Malila advised against any such move saying that it would only add to the evidence of abuse already before the Banjul based Commission.

Reliable sources have indicated that Mr Siandenge and Mr Solomon Jere have been dispatched today (18th February, 2014) to head for Banjul to try and find a way to turn things around (Many will recall that it is these two who jointly commandeered the Mongu January 14 killings)

In another development Police officers today (18th February, 2014) went to Hon Sinyinda’s Residence and questioned him over allegations that he travelled to Lukulu to influence the people there to grab the land that the BRE gave to the Council for the Old Market.

The people of Barotseland are being warned against the ‘Judas Iscariot’ Duo of Sikota Wina and Nyambe Mwenda who are believed to already have the ‘Thirty Pieces of Silver’ in their deep pockets in line with the PF Slogan of more money in your pockets to confuse and derail the course of justice that has commenced in Banjul. While the Litunga must be given a pat on the back for being open with the enemies of Barotseland in telling them that in Barotseland the power is with the people.

    • I think lets give them a chance to move on. It was done in Eritrea/Ethiopia and they now are good neighbors living in harmony. These chaps were once pure, but we contaminated them with our corrupt attitude whose results we see today. But Lozis, are you going to allow me to come and live with you in Barotseland? I want development like you and I’m not very corrupt like those whose origins are from Zairwa.

    • with good leardship, this can be resolved easily and sweetily, but with the current leadership who think they can just boss anyone, zambia is headed for a split no doubt,

  1. Regards, concerned lozi?

Liar its probably a disgruntled Lozi really.

These letters are jokes and not worth being printed here LT

    Thanks

    • Go to barotsepost.com and stop yapping from without Mushota. Your ego Mushota, will never take you anywhere.
First remove the log from your eyes before you get rid of a needle from someone’s eye. Stop acting like a chameleon for Gods sake please.

  2. This is not going anywhere. All those sitting in cozy mansions shall realise that the consequences and backlash for lozis well spread across Zambia can be disastrous in terms of family separations, economic, children education, relocation and even political. So-called Lozis will be in absolute MINORITY if all provinces that formed a part of barotseland (copper belt, northwestern, part of southern province, central province) and they will lose out and even kingdom might be abolished by the majority tribes once they takeover political reigns of the new country.
Lozis are better off staying in Zambia and abolishing the King’s position (all chiefdoms abolished like Tanzania).

    • This is nonsense. Be serious for once. this matter needs to be handled with care. trivialising everything for the sake of PF is dangerous. For once we should see danger and learn to forestall it. One day this PF f.o.o.lishness will bring us calamity of the Titanic proportions. Bagbo was being told of the rebels approaching his hiding hole and he was busy dismissing everything because of his self made invisibility. It did not take long before he was fished out with a vest only.

    • Those people have choices to make with their families, either stay in Zambia or go to Barotseland and live in harmony. No one should force or rather coerce another to allow peaceful submission to oppression.
No one should force anybody, in Eritrea and Ethiopia have done it without force. They are now living peaceful as neighbors’. Even Yugoslavia or just the case of Kosovo, it was done. Passports are there, as neighbors, families can still visit each other without a problem, unless you don’t like diplomacy. Otherwise, democracy does not work in the you assume. Choice and rights to humanity must be respected at all costs.
However, I understand your worries. Stay blessed.

  3. Currently if Western province become independent,I will renounce my Zambian citizenship and apply for barotse nationality.better than living in ukwa ,Comedy.

  4. if i recall, siandenge was officer commanding for western province when a massacre under rupiah took place. solomon jere is the man who led the crack team to western province.

sata was not part of this mess.

however, i regret to indicate that, while these two were at the center of the massacre , they are not the right people to defend the forensic evidence in Banjul. it will also show that the government is not handling this issue well. they need lawyers to respond, just like the people of Barotseland are doing.

lets be serious otherwise we are losing almost half of zambia, and tongas will go the lozi way with northwesterners.

  5. I wonder the motive behaind the writer coz they seem to be one sided.what r u going to benefit now or in future when zambia is divided?I thot we as zambian should do everything to make sure we r united, beloved zambians pliz let us unit zambia, let’s not think that when zambia is divided it will be heaven in barotseland.that is shallow minded.by dividing zambia ur not punishing the pf coz pf will go at one time just like mmd and unip.but we all need mother zambian.may GOD speak to your hearts and give you peace and love for zambia.lozi or bemba I will alwayz love zambia.peace apon us in Jesus’s name.zambia it shall be amen.

  6. Dear Lozi,
Maybe you should just move to Ukraine, Syria or just next door CAR!
What are your expectations? just bringing this piece of information to our blog exposes your intentions which are to fire up peoples emotions over this issue even further. Go and corrupt morals somewhere else!

    • Much as I respect your views Cindy, it is worth looking at the grievances that the Lozi’s have. There is no smoke without fire. I hope your views are the same vis-a-vis Scotland. in 2011, Sata was making promises to every interest group just to be elected. He watered the seed in the Lozi mind and it germinated. Why is he now reneging on those promises he gave to go to Plot 1. I am not Lozi but they can not be blamed to want to pursue there own path of self determination. This will lead to a fedral type of governance.

  7. Dear LT,
Please dont publish some of these articles on your blog, dont you realise you are contributing to a would be CAR or Ukraine?
What do you expect the entire purpose of such news would be? sometimes you just have to put selfish aspirations locked up in a box for the sake of a better and peaceful Zambia.
That country is more than Sata and the Lozi people infact it’s more than the indigeanous Zambian, be real LT and stand out!

  8. It is funny how some people use the issue of intermarriage as a stumbling block to Barotse’s separation from Zambia. In fact intermarriage across Countries or regions has more advantages than disadvantages, it basically means that such families will have a benefit of both Countries just as it is for Zambians in the Diaspora, “competitive advantage”. People of Barotse have always married across other tribes for many years, even before independence of Zambia.

Most people who dwell on this argument are usually ones who have in fact not intermarried. The issue of validity, nullification or retention of BA1964 has nothing to do with intermarriages, best to address the legalities and see how it can conform to modern day set-up and interaction of the 2 parties in harmony.

    • Bravo. You talk sense. Great of you to analyze this issue prospectively.
The people rashly blame the people of Barotseland instead of understanding the historical connotations of this predicament. Us the Lozi’s are requesting what is in born and rightly ours, nothing else.
You get married, immediately after, you rebuke your wife l, torture her, killing the children and hold hostage her against her WILL. In short, Northern Rhodesia was unfaithful to Barotseland.
It’s time to let the people of Barotseland go and determine their destiny. After all, self determination is a right in accordance to international law.
Lawly, Zambia is currently fighting a losing battle against Barotseland and its now over, the world community is well informed about this hot issue.
      Zambia is fallen on…

  9. THE ONLY PROBLEM I HAVE WITH THE SEPARATISTS IS THAT THEY WANT TO HAVE THEIR CAKE AND EAT IT.
LET THEM ALL LEAVE ZAMBIA TODAY AND LET’S SEE HOW LONG THEY WILL SURVIVE IN WESTERN PROVINCE.

    • True. Let them leave. But why not formalize the requests that would allow them to move back to their country? Your comment should be addressed to those test are still dragging their feet. The real issue here is that documents signed cannot be unsigned and the earlier we all own up the best for our country. Otherwise the Banjul issue indicates very advanced levels of approach by our Lozi brothers, and we may be just watching and waiting for them to assist us make an honorable conclusion to the matter as we do not seem to have one since the matter was botched in 1969.

  10. government should not even panic neither should they answer to that document, just go ahead with normal business, malozi niopusa maningi, and taking the matter to GAMBIA my foot do we care, unless it was US OR CHINA

  11. You can take a Lozi away from Barotseland but you CAN NOT take Barotseland away from a Lozi.
One Zambia a state and one nation Barotseland. Don’t be deceived by corrupt politicians who even take advantage of the coinage of a Christian Nation to hide the corruption in this slogan because they have taken Zambians as sleeping people. The world is moving whilst Zambia is walloping in extreme poverty.
Northern Rhodesia changed its name in 1964 after signing The Barotseland Agreement 1964 with Barotseland to form an experimental country namely Zambia. Kaunda abrogated the agreement with impunity and all successive Zambian regimes followed Kaunda’s deceptiveness. Don’t blame the people of Barotseland for requesting that is theirs, instead blame KK with his cronies.
    Tukongote Litunga Ni…

  12. Malabishi rantings……useless rantings by those who want to eat with both hands. They eat with GRZ and then they go and deceive the poor that they are fighting for them…dull really.

Peace and Prosperity to Mother Zambia.

  13. Usually I don’t like commenting on this issue, we really have to be sober when debating,What is the major problem here have my cousins failed to compete on the Zambia stage or its greet by some sections of my neighboring province. The other smaller tribes have refused to break away and be under Lozis..My plea is that Govt should not take these outbursts or attempts to disturbalise the nation lightly.Even the Ndebele tried and Bob sorted them out up to now we have a Zimbabwe united…put an en to this nonsence mr President.

    • Chinyama, for your information the smaller tribes you are referring to were part and parcel of the Barotse National Conference resolution of March 2012. The youths shot and those detained in 2011 were from a cross section of tribes in Western Province. MCS set up a commission of inquiry into 2011 disturbances chaired by Roger Chongwe and the findings were tabled and shelved, what do you expect? In my view they have every right to pursue legal redress or self-determination it is a basic human fundamental right that is what democracy is all about.

    • @zozi as I said I am very relactant to chat this issue because I dont See it practical.Yes a few disgruntled school boys from the smaller tribes could have been noticed & paraded but we had their representative a mr Nkomesha a nkoya who was televised speaking for his tribe and the mbunda as being againest breaking away.i will ask ZNBC to rebroadcast that interview for the sake of you who may have missed it.Coming to the bigger picture, have my cousins failed to compete in Zambia or is greed and bad hearted ess at display here, the campaign promises are over let’s see how we can make a better Zambia after 2016,your Hakaivotela is looking more focused while you are still chasing the wind.

    • Chinyama, I know Nkomeshya very very well who worked at Lusaka City Council under MCS. Nkomeshya himself is a fluent speaker of Lozi. I am part Nkoya for your own information. We shall leave it that thanks for interaction.

    • Wahesu shangwe, it’s over muchaha, Barotseland is gone and let Northern Rhodesians fight with their Sata who has now refused to give them a people driven constitution in preference to the animals one.
Kipeto, lwile, UN ni SADC ba litelela fela decision ya AU. Recognitions will be flowing and let them (NR) deceive themselves.
Viva la la la land la Barotseland viva la Barotseland la la la la la land la la Barotseland viva.

  14. This matter I find very difficult to debate. While we have a government failing to govern, we cannot afford my dear husband’s people the Lozis faning a separatist agenda. This country will be trumped in this circle of mismanagement. I suspect this article may actually be from a PF cadre OP writter trying to divert our attention.

  15. When people demand that the qualifications for a presidential candidate, in the constitution should include a university degree, others laugh. It helps to have a higher education. The BA64 is about a federal government; and good governance. But if you can’t understand that because of poor education then it turns into a huge problem.

  16. I am sure most of you do not know the history of the whole issue. For 53 years western province fought to be a protectrate from the British but they were advised not to due to the fact that they were not going to sustain themselves. Then for 49 years they have also fought to break away from Zambia, that’s why our forefathers from Western and Northern Rhodesia agreed for a united country. If what has been signed cannot be unsigned then the only people.. alive today are Dr. Kaunda and Mr. Sikota Wina. Come on guys very soon we shall be crossing the Zambezi river on a modern bridge. One Zambia one Nation.

    • @Grand, I agree with you. Like someone has said, they want to eat with both hands; i.e the things in Zambia are for sharing and those in Barotseland are for them only.

  17. hallucinations once again, at solicitor general MUMBA MALILA, this person has realized that the barotse nonsense is dead and buried and then he just manufactures lies. @ Gambia kwati ni UN. by the way where is Sinyinda Wainyelawila. Just continue prostituting since its the trade you know.

    • *Zemuntu,
Look at you! You can’t even debate diligently to the issue at hand. All you have ever known in your entire life is only insults. This mentality of insolence is what you cheekily cherish in Zambia.
You have no respect for elders and I pity you. Education is important dear, otherwise you shall remain in your own shackles of primitivism. Challenge us academically and not insults dear.
Your arrogance and illusions are making you delusional. If you any tiny space left in you, be informed that its Mr Clement Sinyinda and not your illusions.
Wonder when you will grow up and have respect to elders. It this behavior of yours that the people of Barotseland don’t want. We too are people and have some respect.

  18. In a nutshell it’s the duty of the Govt to ensure the country remains united, this issue of greed & fear of competition to plot one should be discouraged .The barotse boundaries are not practical and other smaller tribes have blatantly refused to be under the lozi king in this age,Come lets organise our selves for 2016,and to my lozi friends please dont be lazy come to the table.

    • Why don’t you and for once, come to our table? We been at your table for the last 49 years. This time around, its you to come to our table and respect our human rights.
Is a man more equitable to woman, boy to girl and husband to wife?

  19. Pretty much a jaw broker by any standard. Solomon of old was smart to ask God for wisdom. Mr. Sata need not have asked for less.

  20. ‘Litunga was air lifted from unknown place …..’?
This disease of fabricating stories is getting out of hand in Zambia. LT, check your stories before printing, you not should never rely on rumours. This guy has no facts, how can he know more details about the meeting when he does not even know if it was the Chief who was air lifted?

  21. Zambia is a unitary state with 10 provinces namely Lusaka, Easten, Southern, Western, North Western, Copperbelt, Luapula, Central, Northern and Muchinga. Where the hell can Barotseland fit here? Are you referring to an utopian Barotseland? If so, then dream on….

  22. The people agitating for the break away of Western Province from Zambia must realise that strictly speaking, this cessation may be considered if the they accept the fact that the area occupied by this selfish group is very small.********

  23. Sichaba sa hesu onafa a basa i pwachaula mwamba ya bona kiona nako yaku bukeleza Liondo lya n’guwa lya mebebi lya mulila kule, lyondo no kuondomana sicima mungonda. 24. Even if it was politrix but there must be a basis for campaigning on a promise of ‘restoring’ the BA of 1964 by bo ndate Sata.
Is it provocation to ask simple questions like what happened to Dr Roger Chongwe’s Report? Is it so inflammatory to wonder why this presidency is taking on chiefdoms and their structures with such impunity (ref to the Chitimukulu debacle)?

I have said it to many colleagues at different forums that this ‘Lozi’ issue will simply not die a ‘natural’ slow death…..I wonder if that is the reason ba KK and bo Sikota ‘Cow Boy’ Wina are still in existence…….???
