Nkana legend and retired goal goal-poacher Musole Sakulanda has recommended that striker Ronald Kampamba switches from being a top striker to a winger.
Sakulanda said Kampamba can succeed in the flanks as opposed to being deployed at the top.
The Nkana striker was the 2013 FAZ Super League top scorer after netting 18 goals.
Sakulanda noted that Kampamba’s small stature limits his potential as a top striker.
“Sate Sate should be used as a winger, it is better for him to play seven or eleven,” he said.
“When he is playing in the wings he can be more succesful, he can even go out as a proffesional,” Sakulanda added.
He observed:”Because of his small body he cannot play at the top accordingly.”
Kampamba has so far this year registered two goals in three competitive matches for the Nkana.
Guess Lionel Messi has a bigger statue than Sate Sate.
Lionel Messi is a midfielder, in fact most of time plays on left-wing.
Sakulanda advise is valid, in our traditional sense of watching football, Zambia has Mbesuma, Jacob, Mayuka, Chris, Chamanga, Festus, and more to compete with Sate Sate.
But on wings, there are only Kalaba, Sakuha, Fwayo, Felix and all not so stable
Lionel Messi is not a striker, he is a midfielder. True, quite often, big strikers are more suited as strikers in the modern game. A big striker can hold up the ball upfront and allow others to come in from midfield. The likes of Jacob Mulenga is what you need for a top Striker.

Successfull strikers of small stature: Diego Maradona,Micheal Owen,Sergio Aguero & Lionel Messi all come to mind. All he needs is to put on more muscle by spending some time in the gym. but if the switch enhances his prospects,then he should heed Sakulanda’s advice. Raheem at Liverpool is about the same size.

To change position simply because of stature is misguided. The advice seems to insinuate that all the time the defenders are tall and all crosses are high and that because of his stature Ronald has not been and will not be able to score using his head. In 2013 season where he emerged top scorer he played against all the tall and huge defenders like the 2013 player of the year Bronson Chama. His stature notwithstanding, he emerged top scorer, in my humble view, because of his vision, positioning and precision on goal which are critical attributes for any striker.

It will depend on how he is used.Messi plays a false nine where by ,he spends most of the time in mildfield linking play and only assumes the number 9 position when they attack.A big striker is needed when you are not using a false nine system because you would need him to link up play by holding the ball well and bullying defenders to create space for others and himself.
