The opposition United Party for National Development (UPND) says it is heart breaking that almost 50 years of independence, the country could still have politicians who lack basic understanding and the urgency for a new constitution which they themselves promised.
In a statement to Qfm news this afternoon party President Hakainde Hichilema has observed that such lack of integrity and honesty by the party in government is what does not inspire his party to urge its youths to participate in national day celebrations.
Mr. Hichilema says like many other citizens, the youths in the country have also been allegedly equally cheated by the Patriotic Front (PF) government on many things.
Mr. Hichilema notes that it was only on Tuesday yesterday, that the hopes of the youths whom he says are the future generations were again allegedly trashed by the PF Members of Parliament who voted against the constitutional motion that would have given clear road map for a people driven constitution.
The UPND leader further notes that this is why his party finds it difficult to celebrate when the youths are still struggling to get into school and are struggling to make ends meet.
The opposition leader has since urged youths in the country to take this time to reflect on the Zambia they want to live in and then see who can deliver that Zambia for them as his party the UPND is the already known answer.
And Mr. Hichilema has reaffirmed his party’s commitment to the provision of quality and affordable education through a well-managed and professional bursary scheme that will not discriminate or be based on who you know once it comes in power.
He says his party is also looking forward to the provision of quality health services, especially reproductive health aimed at adolescents.

what is actually heartbreaking is that after 50 years of independent we have a bantustan leader who relishes, embraces, promulgate and propagates regional and tribal politics without any shred of shame.
A bantustan leader with a parochial and unsophisticated understanding of domestic and international issues, an emblematic demagogue without a national agenda, a national character or national appeal.

At least HH is a bantustan leader , where as Sata is slowly becoming a leaders for Baboons , the ones he expects to produce a animal constitution which he can enact for them. For sure only men and women with the calibre of Baboons would take Sata ‘s leadership seriously.
Don’t underestimate the youth. If PF have numbers they claim to have, why cry foul when opposition supporting youths have refused turn up for a stupid meaningless match.

PF are getting constipated with power! The saying: “Power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely” is once more at play here.
Yes PF must show urgency in this matter but this comment should not come from you sir HH. You supported your MPs to attend the NCC and nothing came out except enriching yourselves with huge allowances. You failed to pressurise the NCC guys but you want to be seen holly than others now,no sir. Tell us what you want to do for mother ZAMBIA and we will vote for you. I have no sympathetic vote just because you are tonga and we need a Tonga president,no no no sir. Probably we need a wamuyaya UPND leader to be Tonga. Use the failures of PF as your campaign message rather than using primitive methods of aggression and hate mesages against others. Which HH are you talking about? Is it the UPND leader? Surely it must be someone else because the HH who is current leader of UPND is no near what you have written about. You may have clashed over some very private/personal issue and you are using this forum to settle scores. If that is the case, unless you point out such it is very difficult to convince me HH is the monster you are referring to. I am not UPND but a Zambian who always votes and expresses political opinions to friends and family who care to talk politics. The extent you go to demonise HH tells me your motives are beyond mere politics. I have known HH for the past 20 years as a student, employee/employer and later president of UPND & he may have some weaknesses but nothing closer to what you accuse…

I will answer you. What has changed is that not only 20 years but 50 years have passed and we still have no light at the end of the tunnel that we’ll ever have a progressive constituion!! We have pent billions of tax payers’ money on this exercise and all What a Life does is to attack citizens like HH for asking the government to give us the constitution. What a shame. And now, the PF government will ride on the wave by the chiefs who are calling for a total rejection of the WHOLE document just because of one Clause on land!!! Ruling Classes have the same character – their interests are ever against those of the masses. HH is right regardless of what he said in the past. @ janza kumbele, the only bantustans that would have ruled Zambia are no more; Nkumbula and Mazoka (MTSRIP). Abena HH forget, he is too regional. Remember one of the bantustans standing at a podium and decreed and declared that ‘only a bantustan can take over UPND’, that declaration ruled any chance in hell for any bantustan to occupy plot 1. So until HH apologises to the Zambians for that blunder, the Northern region of Zambia can’t vote for a bantustan. CAN’T NEVER.
