President Micheal Sata has reaffirmed his government’s determination to fighting corruption in the country.

President Sata said government has progressed in the fight against corruption in the past two years.

This is according to President Sata’s latest facebook page posting.

He said his administration was fighting corruption in order to create an environment that was conducive for effective social and economic development as well as improved service delivery to the people of Zambia.

He said upon assuming Office in 2011, the Patriotic Front government strengthened the Anti-Corruption legal framework through the introduction of the Anti-Corruption Act No. 3 of 2012.

The Head of State said his government re-introduced the abuse of authority clause that had been removed by the Movement for Multiparty Democracy (MMD) government.

Mr. Sata said government further domesticated a number of provisions contained in the international conventions and protocols on corruption that Zambia is a party to.

He disclosed that last year, the ACC received a total of 1,987 reports and 425 cases were authorized for investigation.

By the close of the year, there were a total of 902 cases under investigations while 205 were concluded and closed.

The commission also recorded 27 arrests countrywide and 64 cases were before the courts of law for prosecutions.

“With regard to investigations and prosecutions, the ACC secured 27 convictions and recorded 10 acquittals while eight cases were withdrawn from court due to technicalities and 12 judgments were appealed against,” he said.

Mr. Sata said in 2012, the Commission received 2,337 reports and investigated them.

He said 484 cases were authorized for investigations while by the close of the year, there were a total of 733 cases under investigations and a total of 89 prosecutions cases were before the courts of law.

“The ACC recorded 31 arrests countrywide in 2012 while 13 convictions and 9 acquittals were recorded. In addition a total of 44 cases were at trial stage while 9 cases were at defense stage, one awaiting judgment, 4 at defense stage, one case was awaiting ruling and only 2 withdrawals were made during that year review,” he said.

President Sata has since assured the nation and cooperating partners that government was resolved to continue placing the fight against corruption on top of its agenda.

  1. Dont fool yourself Mr. President. I have tried to bring investors in the country to initiate wonderful projects that would have contributed immensely to economic growth, but I was amazed at the levels of corruption being perpetuated by nearly all officials in your government including your family!!! This corruption starts in your office, right under your nose. Dont look far or at past corruption. Investors I brought were asked anything from securing and paying school fees for their children abroad to spare tyre. The catch phrase when you meet these PF ministers and officials is “We can talk” Damn, these investors brought in their own money to build the much needed affordable houses. Shame that no one thinks of the poor.

    • How can you fight corruption when you yourself you are corrupt? Corruption is right there at state house. Family appointments, corrupt tenders, tribalism, etc. Is it not corruption? Ubuwelewele pa state house bweka bweka fye.

    • MR PRESIDENT . IN GRADE ONE WE WERE TOLD THAT NEPOTISM IS SOME OF CORRUPTION OF WHICH YOU ARE ALREADY GUILT OF. SO DONT TELL US WHAT WE KNOW YOU ARE NOT DOING.

  2. This is a laughable matter, you mean Mr President you are not seeing corruption levels in the country as being high. With your relative in Kabwe stealing from the poor youths. At least be factual. By the way also appointing people from your family at the level you have done is corruption too.

  3. Dear Sir Mr President,
First start by cleaning your own House in this case PF, Zambia Police, government Judicial firms, then move to your neighbours, untill then….. am afraid it will be the same old boring song I have been hearing over and over again!

  4. More LlES from this useless so-called excuse for a President!

If the abuse of office law was working, Sata himself should be facing charges in court by now!

Your Facebook page is not supposed to be for STUPlD jokes like this. Be serious.

    CONSTITUTION! NOW!

  5. What a clown our president is does he not follow those tribunal sessions for his cabinet ministers. …this man is clearly taking us for ride.

  6. Return RDA where it belongs (so that it can be audited) to prove that you are serious with corruption. By the way that RDA will burn your fingers and your children’s beyond recognition once you leave office bwana.

  7. Of the 205 case which were concluded and closed last year one was reopened after the fall out of GBM. Mr President you dont need a rocket scientist to show you how this country is deep rooted in corruption. Just go to any road block near state house and orbseve, you be shocked that you are preciding on a corrupt country.

  8. This nigger the so called president of zambia is really a joke @ corruption my foot for those who still bliv in sata I think they are also useless just like his ministers and mps as he said it himself. Sata is corruption himself period.

  9. This is according to latest posting on Facebook. We are ruled electronically in Zambia and we have made history on that. Its a computer age indeed. Even Obama who is in an advanced country does not use Tweeter or Facebook to address the American people but he confront them face to face. I don’t remember the last time I saw the president on TV talking about important national issues other than his famous swearing in ceremonies. Where are we going Kanshi???????????

  10. His Excellency has two things going for him, 1) He is a good politician 2) There is no real threat in opposition.

I have closely observed HEMCS’s moves. He is a good politician in that he is skilled in diverting attention from real issues. When there is a crisis in the country like, rising cost of mealie meal, he will do or say something that just changes the discussion. And he does it all the time! Whether its taking a trip without disclosing the destination, re-shuffling his cabinet or embarrassing someone at State House, the motive is the same; keep people from discussing issues he is not comfortable with and have them talk about his behavior.

Despite gvt blunders, no opposition leader can really claim to say they have Gvt on its toes.

This too is just a misdirect on the…

  11. This mambala has DESTROYED ZAMBIA. Chiliba warned as tht Sata can Destroy more thn any other person can. It aches to b Ruled by this Bisa man.

  12. …..by the way 2014 ratings have Lusaka city ranked as the thirdworst capital city to leave in globally. What is the cause of this sharp decline in our fortunes, if it is not for your corrupt govt, which has taken us down this route within your two and half years of being the president. What a big shame.

    • Obviously not true, Lusaka can’t be the third worst city to leave in, have u lived in Kinshasa, Mogadishu , Lagos , dar es salaam , Banjul , yaounde and many others. That report is fake. I am not PF but let’s not become like PF liars just to prove a point. and it so then leave PF alone because you are no different

  13. Mr president the best way to stop corruption is enact laws that will deter or punish those found guilty of corruption. For instance, make it a non bailable offence, 15 years with hard labor etc and only those with balls of steel would dare mess with our much needed resources. If our laws continue to be weak…our fight against corruption will never be won.

  14. Are you saying you are the exception to the rule? Fighting corruption must mean starting with yourself. Unfortunately, corruption is in your blood and you are corrupt to the core. Shame on you Mr. President.
