We tried our best- Nkana coach

Share

Coach Masauso Mwale says Nkana tried their best in Sunday’s 2014 CAF Champions League match against Zamalek despite losing 5-0 in Cairo to bow out of the competition.

Nkana missed out on advancing to the group stage after the heavy defeat in the second round return leg.

The first leg ended goalless in Kitwe on March 22.

In a postmatch interview, Mwale said it was regrettable that Nkana lost with a huge margin away in Cairo.

He said Nkana have learnt lessons from their participation in the Champions League.

“We really put up a good show. The boys tried although we also missed some chances which could have helped us to redeem ourselves,” Mwale said.

The ex-Chipolopolo deputy coach said Nkana are now looking forward to competing in the CAF Confederation Cup where the team has been relegated.

Nkana are in Tuesday’s Confederation Cup pre-group stage draw.

“We are now looking forward to the Confederation Cup and we will be ready for any opposition,” Mwale said.

    • This is the first dull Mwale I’ve come to know. How can you lose by such a margin and not apologise to the nation? Instead you go on and on telling us about how you put in your best and failed to convert EVERY chance you got, and suddenly you’re ready for the next opponent in another tournament…It sucks, doesn’t it?

  1. You have never mastered the art of winning, everytime same patteren of play, can’t you arranged! Home- draw away- big margin. Same team all the time, Ma Rubbish!!!!!

  2. you must apologise to us and never make such stupid statements again. 5 – 0 and you say we tried!!!!!! what a shame.

  3. Does the Nkana coach really know what it means to try ? That is embarrassing losing by such a wide margin. Work extra hard coach with your boys otherwise you will be the whipping boys.

  4. Simaata Simataa banned for life!!!! Keagan Mumba Dies and Zamalek feasts on Nkana!!! The under 17 girls home without anything to show apart from being subjected to monkey chants by the Venezuelas!!!!! What a shame!!!!

  5. Is the language problem or lack of serious. Five nil bashing and you call that the best. Beniko serious, zambians, zambians, zambians

  6. THEY DID THEIR BEST AND GOT THEIR WORST RESULT! BA MWALE.

HOW INTELIGENT ARE ZAMBIAN COACHES WHEN IT COMES TO FOOTBALL TACTIC

ANALYSIS? EGYPTIANS WERE ABLE TO AND THE RESULT IS THERE FOR ALL TO SEE.

  7. The problem is the management of the team. My question is did Nkana send an envoy to check on all the arrangements for the return match before flying the team? All we heard was Nkana refusing to be ferried from Cairo to Alexandria were the match was intially supposed to be played. The argument was genuine but look at the state of the road from Kitwe to chililabombwe were you spend about 2hrs:30mins for such a short distance. What your delegation leader was supposed to do is agree to travel on the road and lodge in a complaint later. Besides, the roads in Egypt are very much advanced and free from potholes. It could have taken less than 2hrs to travel to Alexandria and you could have had enough time for training and the like. In short, the team was affected psychologically.

  8. Am a Nkana for Life fan, but this kind of response from our Coach is very disappointing. I even console myself ati maybe its because our dependable defenders were not there, but the coach is saying we tried hard. Am so sorry for our loss, mwebantu.
