Preview: Egyptian press give Nkana low rating

The Egyptian press has described Saturday’s CAF Confederation Cup Group B game as an easy test for eight-time African champions Al Ahly when they host Nkana at Petrosport Stadium on Saturday in a 19h00 kickoff.

Nkana return to Cairo 40 days after their humiliating 5-0 loss to Al Ahly’s bitter rivals Zamalek in the CAF Champions League on March 30.

And as Nkana brace to face Al Ahly in a tie, some sections of the Egyptian press have described the fixture as ‘a relatively easy test at home’.

But visiting coach Masauso Mwale has said in almost philosophical fashion that the have not obligingly travelled to Cairo to get whipped.

“I think they have attained another level in their playing, they know what is at stake in the Confederation Cup,”Mwale said.

“They are going to play for the nation and also for Nkana.”

Meanwhile, the match will mark striker Evans Kangwa’s continental debut after he missed the January 15 registration deadline when he rejoined the record 12-time champion late that same month after settling a contractual dispute with the club.

Kangwa has show lethal signs for both club and country since March scoring a brace for Zambia in a come-from-behind 2-1 home win over Uganda on March 5 in Ndola after replacing Rodgers Kola midway through the first half.

He has gone to score two goals for Nkana in cup and league action and hit the post on numerous occasions on top of some important assist in the sides last two league wins.

History however is against Nkana after losing 2-0 in Cairo in their first and only other meeting against Al Ahly dating back to the 1983 Africa Cup Champions Cup semifinals when they were eliminated by the same aggregate scoreline.
