Press Statement for Immediate Release

LGAZ BRIBERY ALLEGATIONS

Allegations appearing on some social media platforms that I influenced the outcome of the recent Local Government Association of Zambia (LGAZ) elections are unfounded and unwarranted.

I consider these allegations a desperate and cheap attempt by enemies of the MMD to credit the image of our good party and that of our President Dr Nevers Mumba.

I happened to have travelled to Solwezi, the venue of the LGAZ conference in the same week of the elections. My mission to Solwezi was however very different from what has been reported. I visited Solwezi for family reasons. I come from that area and from time to time, I do visit as a way of acquainting myself with my people.

Whilst in Solwezi, I may have interacted with a few of our local officials and discussed the growth of the MMD in North Western Province but I never visited the actual venue of the conference.

I had nothing to do with Mulenga’s victory. I did not travel to Solwezi to aid his election. My presence did not in anyway influence the outcome of the elections.

I hereby challenge the source of the allegations to prove their malicious allegations against me. I challenge them to show which Councilors I bribed. I challenge them to show which rooms I visited and bribed the Councilors. I challenge them to produce evidence that I was accommodated at the same Lodge where the alleged bribery took place.

Furthermore, If Councilors never wanted Mulenga to win, they would never have voted for him. They all participated via secret ballot and I was never in the ballot box to force anyone to vote for Mulenga.

The losers in this equation are those that contested and lost and are now spreading unfounded allegations of bribery. Our friends should learn that democracy respects the will of the people. Councilors voted for Mulenga because they believed he held the aspirations of the local government fraternity in Zambia.

Our friends should also learn from us as the MMD to accept the wishes of the people. When Zambians said no to the MMD, the party was magnanimous to accept the people’s choice and moved on. If our friends cannot accept defeat in a simple LGAZ election, the public will be right to start questioning their democratic credentials.

In conclusion, I wish to reiterate that no amount of bad press will discourage us from going round the country to mobilise and reorganise the MMD. Our leader Dr Nevers Mumba is clearly the people’s choice with the cleanest public image in Zambian politics and his image will not be tainted by these allegations.

Whatever. Who cares about MMD? Even if you campaigned for us, we are never going to allow outsiders to come into PF and cause confusion again. PSG was very clear about this recently in Eastern Province. Don’t involve PF in your childish squabbles with UPND. Kaipumeni ukokwine mweka – tatwalamwine nokulamwina. Why are you posting a statement on Lusaka Times even before your boss is back from where he travelled?

    • PF is coming to an end by 2016. You PF guys are somehow insensible as to how the wind is blowing on the ground. Just say thank you for Mulenga to go through and we are to gage his performance because that position is non political even tomorrow he can be chucked out from the office.

    • @Senama

Who is talking about 2016 on this story? Please learn to focus on the issue at hand. The issue at hand is Nevers Mumba directing his Councillors to vote for Mulenga Sata, which is okay for us PF, BUT what Bowman Lusambo should NOT do is to use language in such a way that it risks dragging PF into their conflict with UPND. Because sooner or later you will start hearing that PF is funding MMD leadership. Tatulefwaya ifyakulaka nefiwelewele fwebena PF. We all know 2016 is coming and every party has a candidate and no party is going to take victory for granted. But make no mistake, PF will fight to the end to retain power and so far indications are that we will walk all over the opposition.

    • those accusations have no foundation.let our Brothers in UNPD continue going around moblising pipo in stead of creating sorrys which have no base.Leave the man of God alone…..

    • Youth co-ordinator ? Is that your full time job? or you co-ordinate for shear pleasure? This is what i do not get adults labelling themselves as youths?

    • Lusambo is correct to post this rebuttal. They have accused him of having conveyed a message from President Mumba to force MMD Councillors to vote for Mulenga Sata.It is now up to those who claimed that they voted for Mulenga Sata against their will to come out in the open.

  2. sata has done another disappearing act according to the watchdog. destination not known. acting president for one month, red lipped snake kambiba. it looks like the road map outlined by WD some time back is beginning to unfold

    • Keep your WD nonsense to your useless self. If we wanted to read rubbish we would to there. Just comment on the current story. Or is it to difficult for you to engage your brain and for once post something sensible?

    • @chenkoy
are you a grade seven drop out? your english is incomprehensible. just write in your local language may be you can make a bit of sense. queen’s language yalishupa mwe. especially to these kaponyas, mwilatine sukulu bakapala imwe talisuma.

    • @Chekov
Most readers don’t like the WD for their censorship, but we have to admit they report on what is currently happening. LT will only cotton on to Sata’s stealthy exit to some place after the news is stale. LT reports stale news. We should be discussing why the president has to be sneaked out of the country all the time. Lusambo is back page news. Kabimba is acting president for one month and the president has done a disappearing act again. Where has he gone? Don’t you want to know?

  3. I can’t understand how LT can be posting Lusambo’s graffiti on a Sunday. Better off actin-president Kabimba’s national address.

  4. Zed is degenerating into a full-fledged circus. If we are not careful we could be courting the DRC nonsense right in our backyard where chaos and a lack of seriousness are considered normal. I see it creeping up on us ever so stealthily!

  5. @Mwembeshi-Peopples’ Fault(PF) has got a Party Symbol of a clenched fist, just to emphasize that PF is a One-Term(5yr) failed project.Infact PF is on it’s self destruction path, with all the calamities they’ve brought on the zambian pipo-the Kampasa killings in Chongwe, demolition of houses, high cost of living,No new constitution, compromised judiciary,ACC and speaker of parliament etc.Only a foolish ***** can be blind to all these vices. After 2016,PF is destined for a dustbin.

  6. @Nostradamus you’ve made my day man. @ Lusambo’s graffiti ke ke ke ke yaba!

Now you chaps, Chekov and Mwembeshi you are well known pf blind and useful idi.ots. Your Sata is AWOL and to you its normal as usual eish!
