National Aids Council – NAC says Zambia is poised to win the fight against HIV and AIDS within the generation.

National Aids Council Chairperson, Bishop Joshua Banda says the optimism to overcome the battle on the spread of HIV is evidence based.

Bishop Banda has explained that based on the global report on AIDS for 2013, Zambia is ranked as one of the top six countries recording reduction in new HIV infections particularly in the Prevention of Mother to Child Transmission of HIV/AIDS.

Meanwhile, NAC has appointed Jabbin Mulwanda as its new Director General.

Bishop Joshua Banda says Dr. Mulwanda’s expertise in managing national public health programmes including HIV-AIDS spans over 15 years.

Bishop Banda was speaking at the media briefing held at the National Aids Council in Lusaka.

  1. And clinical trials for Sondashi Formula are underway. The NISIR, through Ministry of Health has just order a Sondashi Formula Capsules manufacturing machine fron China. Meanwhile, RSA are already manufacturing SF2000 capsules.

  2. I thought the NAC DG was Dr. Clement Chela who was brought in from Botswana. Where is Dr.Clement Chela then? He too has been in the fight against for HIV and AIDS for many years now( more than twenty years I have known him) and I thought he was well placed to lead that institution.

  3. This sounds like day dreaming bwana Bishop!!!!! Do you really know what are you are talking about? Have you watched abena BobbyEast and Ruth’s video eating live?

  4. Zedianse, No1. I can tell you point blank that in the current state, National Institute for Scientific and Industrial Research (NISIR) is dead. Its death is linked to poor management style and above all, it died when the selfish old scientists dismantled the former NCSR to form NSTC and ZNTB etc. In my view, the previous body had a broad mandate, financial muscle and ability than the current NISIR which is equivalent to a Laboratory center. Dr Phiri the Minister, and his predecessors have not been supporting the institution in funding as a result, I would be shocked if he even made a tour to the institution ever since he came into as minister.
If you had to compare with CSIR a similar institution within the region, you will what impact the research institution has had to its country.
