STATE House Special Assistant for Press and Public Relations George Chellah is demanding an apology from the Daily Nation for alleged defamation of character, failure to which he will commence legal proceedings against the newspaper.

Mr Chellah is citing the newspaper for defamation of character in an article entitled ‘George Chellah insults Daily Nation Official’ published on July 22 this year.

In a letter obtained in Lusaka yesterday and addressed to the Daily Nation managing director by his legal representatives, SBN Legal Practitioners, Mr Chellah says the article was on the same day also published online by the newspaper.

The article quotes Mr Chellah as having verbally abused a Daily Nation official, whose name was withheld, for asking whether President Michael Sata had flown out of the country.

“Our client denies abusing or insulting the said unnamed official and/or a fellow media practitioner as alleged or at all. The said allegations against our client, who has been referred to by name throughout the article are false and malicious and constitute serious libel against our client in his person.

“His professional calling and his public office were published without seeking verification from him or being called upon to state his side of the story before publishing the said libelous article,” the letter reads in part.

The letter further says that the offensive article published imputed that Mr Chellah was uncouth, cantankerous, a dangerous person who was not fit to be a media practitioner and a dangerous person who was not fit to hold public office in Zambia, as well as a person capable of committing a criminal offence by harming anybody who crossed his path.

“We, therefore, require yourselves at this stage to publish an apology in your newspaper and online in terms to be approved by us and with the same prominence as the publications complained of and the matter will be closed.

“We expect a favourable response within the next three working days, failure to which our client will be at liberty to institute legal proceedings for damages for the injury to his reputation and for the embarrassment and distress caused to him. We trust you will do the needful and avoid the inevitable legal proceedings for the grave libel against our client,” adds the letter.

  1. Zambians hate show-offs.

Ba Jojo, I advise you to re-evaluate your role profile and job content in order that you may perform your duties diligently…..

…..unlike the silly articles you’ve been publishing over the last 2.5 years that have turned ba Sata into ba Charles Mwango.

    Chi mfana iwe…..

  2. Oh ka chella save us your stupidity and tell us what has happened to the president.
SATA IS EITHER PHYSICALLY DEAD OR BRAIN DEAD. WHICH OF THE TWO DO YOU?

  3. Go ahead, sue and make my favourite paper popular. Sata, and now chella both want to stand in the dock against Richard Sakala and The Daily Nation. Sales will sky-rocket!

  4. Chellar, who holds you in high standing with your constant ranting in your Post vuvuzela?

You can’t plead defamation when you luck character worth being defamed. Go crawl into a hole somewhere and shut it..!

  5. I guess most people view this guy Chella as described by
Daily Nation. He has no class. Just another PF retard.

  6. Let them pay for their useless and careless reporting, they will always remain at the bottom , let the feel your heat!!!!! Go Chella. Balipota nesapato salipwa mukwenda ne chibe fulu fulu, rubsh!!!!!

The daily nation has recorded a telephone conversation with Chella which they can as evidence in the court.

I can assure you Chella will be pleading with the daily nation very soon to let him off the hook.

The mighty king cobra turned KING CABBAGE failed to nail the Daily nation. This Sakala guy is dangerous. Soon after KING CABBAGE challenged him in court, he collapsed and was rushed to Israel in a coma after which he died physically or mentally. His body is stored some where only known be the family forest.

When is Sata ‘s case against the daily nation going to resume? Just wondering because the complainant is AWOL? Besides he skipped court proceedings without a reasonable excuse . This amounts to contempt of court.

  7. This is a ploy to fleece more money from the government. First of all who is paying his lawyers. Is he paying them from his own pocket or is the government footing the bill? If it is government, how much are they being charged by Chellah’s lawyers? The lawyers will make money irrespective of them winning the case or not.

  8. Chiluba took Dipak to Court for saying Chiluba is a thief. Dipak and Nawakwi proved that he was a thief. George go ahead and see how you will be made to cry!

  9. But ubunangwa bwa bena Zambia awe sure bwa fulisha saana! Sata ichinangwa full cycle sure echa kwisa bika pa chipuna ati nomba niwe intungulushi, chalo chesu cha Zambia icho nomba u teke iwe cipuba!

  10. Good morning George Chellah, have you prepared the president’s midmorning snack?
Why have you stopped updating Sata’s Facebook, is it because the people know more than yourself what is going on in state house?

  11. Bushey George Chela when he looks himself in the mirror he think his ok upstairs, tell the dog to manage the corpes.its of his master. He has a lot in his hands than start antagonising people who do not bother him. We know divorce is painful please put your energy towards fixing that leave poor zbians alone what you have stollen you will not enjoy it because you did not seat for it. This year siyisila Iwe ana boss wake ba stupid

  12. Just to sum it all. George Chellah has turned the Chief Resident of State House into a laughing stock. State House is no longer generating credible Presidential guidelines of national character. Even the PF Chairman in Kitwe’s Kapoto, Lusaka’s Kanyama and Chipata’s Mwaziona appear to sound much wiser than Mmembe’s weeds planted at State House. Sata’s Presidency (Officers) cannot match the efficiency we have been witnessing under South Africa’s Mandela, Mbeki and Zuma Presidency.
