The Zambia Information and Communications Technology Authority -ZICTA is saddened with the continued poor quality of service offered by mobile telecommunication companies.
ZICTA Public Relation Manager, Ngabo Nankonde says the authority is aware of the poor standards of quality of service provide by operators.
Ms Nankonde says the poor quality of service consumers are being subjected to is evident as seen in the increased number of complaints lodged to the authority.
She said mobile phone operators have for some time now taken consumers for granted.
Ms Nankonde has told tv2 news at the ongoing national agriculture and commercial show in Lusaka today that ZICTA will soon take action against operator found wanting.
She says currently the authority is finalizing the compilation of data in order to take appropriate action against erring operators.
Zambians love and accept mediocrity!
ZICTA IS TOOTHLESS LOOK AT HOW PIPO ARE STRUGLING JUST TO CALL CUSTOMER SERVICE KU CELZ U HAVE TO WAIT FIR 2 hours and no response or yo line just cut
Be serious
yes something needs to be done, we are paying for services that are not provided most of the time;
“ZICTA will soon take action”….bla,bla, bla ! Complaints have been lodged for over 6 years, but ZICTA only shows its Incompetence. Nankonde and the whole management are not only slow but very incompetent. Bgesides, ZICTA has failed to foster competition by bringing other service providers, an action which would force efficiency and more serious dealings. But the whole game must begin with ZICTA itself, it needs a facelift.
Instead to be “saddened”, do your duty and enforce the terms of theirs licence.
CELLZ ni agony,wen this company was being run by libyans it was a marvel,now blacks are back.iyeee!!
Yes we are also tired of unsolicited messages on our phones, why do service providers think that we are interested in their promotions, songs or whatever, let interested subscribers solicit for those messages as opposed to compulsory transmission. MTN even sends messages that your account balance is in sufficient all day long, who does not know that their airtime is low? Are we not the ones who top up? Please spare us such useless reminders. My phone has four simcards, so you can guess how much traffic of these useless messages I am subjected to receive daily when I am busy working or driving. Filekeni ifi fi ma message fya bupuba ala! Umbi nkesa mutobe nkoli.
“AND ZICTA, HOW FAR HAVE YOU GONE IN DEMARCATING ZAMBIA INTO POSTAL CODES? DEMARCATING ZAMBIA INTO POSTAL CODES IS ONE OF THE MOST SERIOUS ECONOMIC DRIVERS. MAYBE MORE THAN 80% OF BUSINESS CANNOT BE CONDUCTED IN ZAMBIA DUE TO THE FACT THAT MAYBE MORE THAN 90% OF PEOPLE IN ZAMBIA DO NOT HAVE FIXED ADDRESSES. HAVING POSTAL ADDRESSES WILL BRING A LOT OF STANDARDS IN ZAMBIA BESIDES HUGE BUSINESS VOLUME. JUST IMAGINE. HOW CAN YOU DESIGN AND WRITE PROGRAMMES FOR NAVIGATION INSTRUMENTS WITHOUT ROADS NAMES YOURSELVES? ZICTA, YOU ARE DELAYING ECONOMIC PROGRESS.”
