Prospects to construct the first phase of the 1.8 billion US dollar North West railway line to link Northwestern province to the Copperbelt have gained momentum.

This follows the completion of feasibility studies by engineers engaged by North West rail, a company owned by former vice president Enoch Kavindele who is financing the project.

The engineers who have held meetings with mining companies in Solwezi told Northwestern province permanent secretary Amos Malupenga that the alignment of rail line has already started.

And Mr Kavindele told Mr Malupenga that his company is happy with the response from mining companies about the rail line project.

And Mr. Malupenga told the delegation that government stands ready to support the project adding that the rail line will reduce dependence on roads for transportation of heavy goods.

    • This should be a priority project.

Does anyone have ba Kavindele’s number, I am ready to join his Harem.

  1. VERY GOOD PROJECT TO START WITH. THESE ARE THE KINDS OF PROJECTS ZAMBIA NEEDS FOR THE PROSPERITY OF ZAMBIA. KEEP IT UP KAVINDELE.

  2. Mr. Kavindele, please be serious for once with this project. Do not behave like those involved in setting up national airline where today they talk about this and tomorrow they talk about a different story altogether.

  3. This is good project especially if it finally connects to DRC to the Atlantic. . its a shame that in Zambia business men like Kavindele have to be good books with the ruling government for their project to be a success. Mr. Kavindele is on a winner on this one.

  4. I just like Kavindele he is a hard worker he doesn’t believe in complaining ,but goes to work while others spend time complaining how some one is not favouring them, lfe is about competing if you underate yourself you lose out , all people in zambia are equal just stand up and be counted

  5. That is a lot of money zambians need to be brave enough , to do such great projects he must come out and do an excerllent work

  6. Dora siliya and RB made kavindele stop on this project 2 to 3 yrs because of their corrupt practices. Hope this current govt does not frustrate him too. Kavindele is a smart man inside and outside, a pilot, investor, lethal businessman and above all he sees opportunities where others cannot.

  7. If we had sensible people in government, the implementation of this project would have started a long time. PF only started supporting the project after ensuring that Kavindele was praising Sata.

  8. Bravo! Very well done!! There is need for mutual collaboration between government and management of NWR Company. If this turns out to be just another lost opportunity, then the country will retrogress.

  9. I hope this wont turn out to be another Mchingi Rail Project which took decades to get started and then got stuck!

  10. This is genuine investment were the country will benefit. The awakening of a sleeping giant. …Northwestern. Kaunda you really neglected this province but God blessed us a long time ago. The Jews of Zambia. Swenya vazate va mwata Kavindele.

  11. I would also like to buy the Njanji commuter train and construct a light rail system to link the airport and all key infrastructure such as main stadium and shopping malls in Lusaka. This project would employ thousands of people from rail engineers to station attendants and help to decongest the city. It would be fully automated system to avoid the last disaster which was attributed to human error using primitive systems. The system is estimated to cost £3.5 billion as everything would need to be built from scratch. Anyway, it’s good to dream but one day I will accomplish my dream just like the old man Mr Kavindele.
