Zambia amateur boxing team coach Kennedy Kanyanta has advised 2014 Commonwealth Games Bronze medal-winning boxer Ben Muziyo not to rush into turning pro until after the 2016 Rio Olympics.

Kanyanta said the 21-year-old Middleweight should aim for Gold at the Congo Brazzaville 2015 All-Africa Games and the medal brackets at the Olympic in Brazil in two years time.

“My advice to the young man is to stay focused and aim high for higher accolades like winning Gold in Brazzaville,Rio and the next Commonwealth Games,” Kanyanta said.

Muziyo was one of two Zambian athletes to return from the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow with a medal.

Boas Munyonga won the first medal, also a Bronze, in the 81Kg men’s Judo.

Meanwhile, Kanyanta said he was staying on as national team trainer.

“Initially I wanted to say bye to the boxing activities but I have felt there are two more things I have to do as a motivator and coach to these upcoming boxers,” Kanyanta said.
