Sports Minister Chishimba Kambwili has asked Zambians to pray that the nation’s 2019 Africa Cup bid succeeds.
Zambia is facing stiff competition from Algeria, Ivory Coast, Guinea and Cameroon.
Kambwili said the clergy should lead Zambians in praying for the 2019 AFCON bid.
He repeated that Zambia’s 2019 Africa Cup bid will be successful.
“You know that as Zambians we believe in prayer so I can only invite all the pastors, priests, bishops and reverends to pray for Zambia to be given this opportunity to host the Africa Cup,” Kambwili said.
CAF will announce the successful bidder next month.
“I have never started a crusade and failed, if we fail it will be my first failure in my entire political career and I told CAF inspectors that it will be unreasonable for them to dent my CV, so certainly they have to favour Zambia,” he added
Mr Kambwili when the issue of hosting this big event started you should have had put your house in order first. Talking about prayers now is uncalled for you can not receive blessings when you have done nothing two stadiums you think is what can make you be given that chance you are jokers look at the country biding for the same and THINK
Including the poor state of the hospitals in the country, they should have built or renovated the hospitals to modern state art.
I laughed when I saw these Kambwili’s chaps taking CAF officials to inspect UTH.
Mr Kambwili, you failed to name the new stadium “The Gabon Disaster National Stadium”. Seems to me, you either have a very short memory or have a problem counting….
Other countries have the facilities in place and they deserve the chance we don’t even know if any more stadiums will be built we are GOOD at talking only
Bwana Kambwili, you only remember clergy people when you need help…NO.You should also be calling them when you do bad governance. We are losing the bid because we like working on impulse.Lets prepare first by building all the needed stadia and training grounds. Then we can go to CAF and say we have now come for our lost bid. For now, no hosting baba. My poor Zambia.I know other bloggers will be on me.But am just stating the truth. If you have visited these other countries bidding for the same 2019, then you will have no reason to object mambala.Mark my beautiful words of Zambia not hosting the 2019 AFCON.Amen
That is abuse of prayer and pastors! Winning this bid will not depend on how hard you pray, NO. it will depend on infrastructure and the capacities to deal with demands of that huge event. Simple: So, if you don’t show that you have enough, modern infrastructure and capacities, you will not win the bid.
“Let us Pray”
Is prayer the only action we know in this country? What happened to just doing it? Why can’t the Honorable ask for prayers about the bad governance and the obviously ailing President? I find it the chief reason why we can never move forward as a nation. Everything is about prayer.
Walasa iwe.
Point!
WE NEED TO HAVE THE NEW CONSTITUTION, NOT FOOTBALL
Well at least this PF party will not be in power after 2016 so that if we do host the Afcon, it will be done properly!
Listen to this BUFFOON is he not the selfsame minister who just came from visiting a patient in RSA because Zambia lacks specialist facilities. …now he wants to commit millions of tax dollars for a Football tournament. He knows nothing about hosting any of these tournaments and he is asking for prayers. You want prayers pray for that deadwood in State House.
THEY HAVE STOLEN AND FINISHED THE THE EURO BOND ,NOW THEY HAVE TO PRAY FOR ZAMBIA TO BE AWARDED HOSTING OF THE AFCON 2019.SO THAT THEY GIVE THE CONTRACT TO THEMSELVES ,LIKE THEY DID WITH THE EURO BOND
Brilliant blogs – u are ALL spot-on! Zambians need other high-priority stuff which are 50 YEARS behind schedule – Yo effing Football AFCON can wait…we don’t need a repeat of 1988 when we chickened out exactly because of this FIKAISOVA shit !! PF, WORK FIRST then and only then FILAISOVA !!!
Let us debate objectively. It is not true that Zambia cannot win the bid because it only has 2 stadia. We have konkola ,Nkoloma, Arthur Davies, Independence and Nkana Stadia (5) which only require rehabilitation and can host the tournament .On top of this Heroes and Levy (2) stadia are already complete and of international standard but we might just need 1 more new stadium preferably in Livingstone to bring the total number of stadia to 8 which is adequate to host an international tournament like AFCON. Zambia ranks far ahead of its competitors in terms of peace and security and therefore can easily scoop the bid.
Those are substandard naiwe. If anything they are most of them are private property. Government just needs to finish the Livingstone stadium, and perhaps the Mongu one (Kikiki) to make it four big stadia which I think is the minimum number required to host a tournament of this measure. Nkoloma and all you mention could be used for training.
Dude, are you for real?
Here’s my prayer. May the Ebola Virus disease continue in west Africa for at least another month until the host is chosen. LOL
The priority is to pray for the healing of the land of Zambia and it’s people.
The wealth of the country has been vandalized and the people are being cheated by the likes of Kambwili who have everything at their disposal, to them hosting a football tournament is more important than anything else.
We are definitely hosting in 2019. Mark my words!
Yes, but we need to do more. What I don’t like are the minister’s last words. Zambia is ready to host this competition no doubt. Lets support each other and move our Zambia foward. Avoid negative contributions.
Kambwili, it’s you who needs prayers so that you stop molesting CAF refs. Not contented with ‘beating’ one ref at the Nkana game, you now want to clobber all CAF refs when they come. Alase! Even boasting, ‘Ati, iyo ine, I am not fat but big and I can box.’ You filthy baloon. We need to clean you up with prayers.

No Sir we should be praying for a cure for AIDS. Not for a football tournament. Misplaced priorities.
Very dull minister. This is not personal bane. Your CV? What CV? Kaya mwandi!
What is with us Zambians and prayers? We like committing everything and just about anything to prayers even where we have a practical solution. God is busy tending to prayers for survival , healing and peace and here you are dull minister asking us to pray to God to facilitate an activity like football that will take away the little resources from those that need it most!
Let us not misuse prayers. I know of a guy who prayed to God when his car could not start. Instead of getting anew battery, he committed his car to prayers. Off course prayer did not give it a jump start.
…the sad part is that our competitors have PRAYERS and FACILITIES but we only have PRAYERS…..
By the way, when did we have this ‘dream’ of hosting the AFCON…I’m sure it must be two or three years ago while our competitors had them ten/twelve years ago….
The best we can pray for is to accumulate points to atleast come out second best so that in case the successful bidder for some reason fail to host(west Africans- Ebola, boko haram attacks…….Algeria- riots, civil unrest), then CAF will have no choice but to bring the tournament here in Zed……
but how can we pray that our fellow human being starts killing each other and die from ebola so that we enjoy. what kind prayer is that?
suban chaisa I was wondering the same thing as well hahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha. The sentence construction Scrutinizerer is on point, the logic though is malicious hahahahahaha.
..@Suban/mwanawakwitu….
….take your time to read and comprehend….. where were u rushing to…??…read my posting again. I’m not suggesting that WE PRAY for our brothers and sisters to ‘fight’ or be haunted with ebola….to the contrarily. I said we PRAY SO THAT WE ATLEAST END UP SECOND BIDDER…….. I said, just in case for some REASON….the winner fails to host……..,(that’s when I referred to what you are talking about just because that is what is prevailing currently) by 2019 the reason may be totally something else
I hope u have gotten the logic now…..
Bravo! Bravissimo!! Very well done!!! The country needs to host such events in order to grow up. After 50 years of independence, the time to throw away nappies is now.
thanks for the inspiring word dr makasa kasonde, the time has come for zambia to take up those challenges that will help us to grow as a nation.

May be cohosting this bid Zimbabwe could have worked out. e.g Gabon cohosted and Zambia won the cup.You should have thought of costing with Zim or Botswana.
Co hosting with Namibia and Botswana is the only viable solution. Tournaments are a strain on national economies, look at Brazil lol. They are still in shock hahahahahahahahaha.
Abayomi Olaleke SALAU
I appeal to the whole of Africa to support Zambia’s bid to host Afcon 2019.
Every person in Zambia, Southern Africa, the wider Africa MUST support Zambia.
Zambia has given so much to development of football in Africa.
A lot of people have been asking about the facilities on the ground but all you
need to do is to come and see massive developments which has been and still is taking place in Zambia within the last ten years.
The spirit of football is unity, peace and friendliness, which Zambia has in abundance. I therefore encourage all of us to rally behind Zambia’s bid and support this noble cause.
FOR THE LOVE OF THE GAME HIT LIKE (y) FOR ZAMBIA!
