PF should allow President Sata to rest-Opposition MPs

President Sata-Guard of Honour 5

Some opposition Members of Parliament have advised the ruling Patriotic Front to allow President Sata to rest.

They say allowing a frail, pale looking President Sata with a cracking voice to officially open Parliament is unfair on his health.

They observed that President Sata failed to complete reading his speech because he was clearly unwell.

The MPs spoke to Journalists at Parliament buildings shortly after President Sata opened Parliament Friday afternoon.

MMD National Chairman Kabinga Pande strongly condemned the ruling PF for mismanaging the health of President Sata saying the PF is heartless.

“These people (the PF) are being unfair to President Sata. I felt touched over his state. We all know him, that is not the President we know. I feel the people in PF are heartless to even allow him to attempt to read such a long speech. He is a human being like all of us and we should feel for him. He is unwell,” Mr Pande said.

“I don’t blame the President, I blame the people that manage the President. They are answerable to the people of Zambia,” he said.

And UPND Senanga MP Likando Mufalali blamed Cabinet for bring Mr Sata in poor state to Parliament.

“I could hardly hear what he was attempting to say. I got nothing from his speech. I expected cabinet to be fair and not bring here to the House. Cabinet has not been to the man, that is all I can say. It is not fair,” Mr Mufalali said.

And UPND Katuba MP Jonas Shakafuswa said he listening to President Sata struggle to read his speech reminded him of the time he used to mock late President Levy Mwanawasa over his illness.

“I couldn’t help but remember the mocking he made Mwanawasa go through but the good thing is that I forgive him. He is clearly unwell because I was the one who reminded him that he had no officially opened Parliament, he was almost leaving the House without declaring Parliament officially opened until I shouted at him that he had not officially opened,” Mr Shakafuswa said.

Mr Shakafuswa said, “I think it is irresponsible for the PF to bring him in such a poor state. They should have waited for him to get better. I think it is inhuman and this shows the levels of desperation that the PF has to cling to power which is slowly slipping away from them.”
MMD Kasenengwa declared that President Sata delivered an empty speech.

“I’m disappointed he could come here and just crack jokes when the people of Kasenengwa wanted to hear his vision for the rural areas and he clearly struggled to read. They should allow him to step aside and rest,” Ms. Kasenengwa said.

Meanwhile, Rufunsa MMD MP Kenneth Chipungu advised the PF to stop exposing President Sata to the public in his current state.

“The party should withdraw him from the public. He is clearly unwell but they are pushing him. Most importantly, the PF must start looking for a successor to replace President Sata,” Mr Chipungu said.

He added, “The PF must learn from what happened when Mwanawasa died. It is unfortunate that Levy (Mwanawasa) died and he died abroad and we were not ready as a nation but for the PF, they have time to prepare. Now everybody can see what is happening, you can see the trend and it is not good.

  1. Why?

    He looked fine to me

These rumours and innuendos must stop

How do you define a fit man?

    Exactly how his majesty looked

    These Mps are jokes

    Thanks

    • I say that “I wonder what goes on inside the minds of most Zambians”. Most will be jubilant that Sata opened parliament but not care about what was in his speech or state of his health. Today my wonder shifts to Dr Kaseba. How does a loving wife allow her husband to humiliate and expose himself in such a manner while she sits watching. More so that she is a doctor. It is not long ago that she was on the band wagon of those claiming “Sata is fit and well”. What does it take for one to uphold their integrity? Blatant lies from everywhere and yet we watch and the empty tins make more n more noises.

    • Sata’s legacy is a sad one.The man really struggled to be president and once he became president he lost his health! What does it profit a man to gain the whole world yet lose his soul!

    • Puke coming from the opposition. Hate it or love it my president is fit, reason why he is even about to go to New York for a summit. Only a fit president can risk taking such a long flight. Aluta Continue !!!

    • You bouncing presido abandoning a speech, l will leave the speech for you , I was here 47 years ago. The president is very fit. Those who are saying is sick they are SICK

    • First time AMBULANCE in the presido motorcade , Mushota. You are seeing from abroad with Saulosi. If you watched TV1 you would have cried . No zooming by cameraman , I am still alive today becoz of two people, my wife I imported…………….Come back to Zambia and see for yourself OUR BOUNCING PRESIDO ,VERY FIT, SPEAKING FOR 3 MINUTES AT SOLWEZI SHOW GROUNDS RALLY………
      Die with NO

    • Medical examination board please, so that the people can save this man’s life from his evil minions and the morons that still choose to believe he is well and can execute his duties. Look at him from three years ago….give the man a break for it seems he knows not what he does now. Enough now.

    • I want to believe all opposition MPs making comments over the president appearance are all hypocrites. It was just last week together with their presidents were asking the president to officially open parliament.
But because they lack issues to tell the Zambian people, it will take them the all year talking about the president’s health. They want him to resign, does it mean they themselves will resign if they fell it if at all they will have that chance to ascend to power? How many of those talking resigned or even retired from their jobs when they fell ill? Will they become immortal when they become presidents?
These are the questions they should ask themselves before making careless statements coupled with hallucinations to rule Zambia. Keep telling them Mushota

    • John K, you are right. The way I see it is you’re damned if you do and you’re damned if you don’t. They all demanded that he open parliament knowing he wasn’t well And now that he has they change their minds and say, it was cruel of the PF to allow him to open parliament in such a state. Ala!!! Such hypocrites

    • @Mushota,
You, my dear man, are a failure. Since your magazine went under, you have found much time to be at the top of blogging. Sort out your life first.

  2. The President looks better than HH. At 76, his excellence looks more handsome than HH. If you look at HH closely, his face is so bumpy like someone who has sarcoma or some kind of an STI. His face needs a facelift.

    • I agree with you totally. These opposition parties surely are under fives. The government ha such a good development program such that the opposition can not pick holes in it. All they can do is wish the president should die. They have been praying and wishing for a presidential bye election so that they can come to power by default using the peoples sympathy which wont happen. They need to go to the people and explain what they can do better not cheap politiking. Remember, Sata in the eyes of the opposition and watch dog had died during the 2011 election campaigns. If they have no strategy or can not do better than what PF is doing the should stop and give up.

    • The ministries, infrastructure and services are bankrupt. Where is the development by the government cos all I see is investors development which is not attributable to government. A mall or football stadium is not social or government development. Learn the difference.

    • I am so surprised for some of these MPs to be reminding the PF that they should not allow the President to be appearing in public, when they are the same people not too long ago who were busy informing the nation that the President is hiding and demanded him to come out. Now he has come out, they have changed their tones. Its really unfortunate for savages like Shakafuswa to be lying to the nation that he reminded the President that he had not officially opened the house. Rubbish!!

After all its the same boxer Shakafuswa who used to insult our beloved late President Mwanawasa day in day out and not President Sata as he is insinuating to the nation. Why are you so jealous? Your party will never rule Zambia. We are fed up with politics of hate. Who has never fallen sick in life?

  3. I thought the opposition MP, will now be talking about the medical board to assess the president. For sure he is a liability to the nation.

  4. Most heartless fools and critics have been hoping to see Mr Sata dead and were demanding to see him in public. Now that’s he’s shown up, they have changed there stand and want him to rest. Who says he will never recover? *****s u never seize to amaze me.

  5. How do you have a nation where the Republican President is censored during a live broadcast by Parliament Radio? How do you have a nation where all journalists except state media are banned from covering the president during the most anticipated day of this presidency? How can people in the ruling party be defending this absurdity befalling us? Where is the opposition? Where is Civil Society? Where are the youth in all this?
We have a bunch of selfish people pushing the president to stay in office even when he is clearly not well just to protect their stupid jobs, as if they did not exist before being appointed. When will we ever get out of this political mess that was caused by people not thinking critically enough but instead voting based on excitement? cnt……..

    • Most of all where is the ‘mighty’ Catholic Church that strongly advocated for this man?
My advise to the President would be to resign and I would write your speech as follows…after the salutations…fellow countrymen and women as you already know I have achieved what I worked for and that was to become President of this wonderful nation and I have fulfilled the quest. I have also worked hard to develop Zambia to the best of my ability and that of the Party’s. It is with great sadness that I announce my resignation due to ‘unforeseen circumstances’ and matters beyond my control. This fellow countrymen and women is with immediate effect…..
Your Excellency that is merely a position which will remain if anything happened to you better go and rest and recuperate.

  6. These opposition MPs condemning the PF are the same ones who were saying the president should be seen in public now that he has come out, they are condemning the PF memebers. You have seen what you wanted to see. So now what? Celebrate! Celebrate that HH will become president after Sata dies. Useless leaders we have in Zambia. PF, UPND, UNIP, MMD all useless and greedy chaps

    • The issue is admit. If the PF admitted that the President is sick, he will be justified to rest and everyone will understand. The problem now is that we are told he is fit and working hard at State House. For this reason, MPs are justified to demand that he comes out to face the public. But if PF admits that he is sick, no one will demand that he comes in public. He will deserve his rest. Learn to analyse issues.

    • Yes people wanted to see him and its evidently clear that he was and he is still very sick. Those people commenting are humans first and genuinely care about the health of a fellow colleague…where as your small cadre brain has only two settings either one is a friend or a foe.

    • The govt assured Zambians that MCS was fit and working hard and yet could not appear in public. The MPs thus had the right to demand his appearance because they were lied to. Now that they have seen the truth for themselves, they have shown compassion by saying he should rest. If anything they should have been demanding that he resigns on medical ground. If it was Sata and the PF who were in the opposition they would have been demanding that a medical board be set up ASAP. Most of all they would have been demanding the head of Guy Scot who lied to the house that Sata was very well in in actual not. This is similar to lying under auth.

  7. Non of the complaining MPs are calling for a medical board to assess him. Eyes can mislead you but to read the reports coming in, indeed the cobra is not okay and he must do what’s inevitable for himself. Opposition MPs talked as bout this issue now what are Cabinet ministers doing abou this issue. Bamudala shouldn’t even be allowed yo trav we l yo the USA otherwise we will be asking for too much!

  8. What nonsense from these opposition MPs. Instead of wishing someone full recovery you want them to resign? You opposition MPs are hypocrites, going by their statements then they themselves should resign these opposition MPs have gained so much weight since becoming MPs that they themselves are a health risk and should resign or risk dying from BP and heart disease…hypocrites on top of it most of these UPND MPs are polygamists and have more than one wive hence probably have HIV so let them be the first to resign ..cretins

    • Glaucoma, cataracts, river blindness…those worms that live in eyes must have penetrated ze ze ze blain of this one. Like a wind up toy that keeps walking itself into a brick wall….you repeat the same sentiments, offer no solutions or direction besides self centred and polarising garble. Your hearing must be gone as well.

  9. To be fair this is how an old African man should look like. If the issue is about Zambia not having ,then there is substance in this story otherwise shut up.

  10. Jonas Shakafuswa, what a joke to the Zambian people you are! how can these fools say that the PF is losing ground when in fact it’s gaining and they are losing they turfs to the PF. As for the health of the president he is looking fine and if you couldn’t hear a thing he was saying, it just explains why you can’t even debate in parliament, start by commenting on the main issues that where tabled and make checks and balances, and we will see what you have to offer, instead of concentrating on the health of Sata.

    • Jonas Shakafuswa is a documented womanizer and thug, whatever comes out of his mouth is thuggish nonsense that is full of bitterness and vomit that is shared amongst his evil UPND conspirators and satanic agents

  11. President Data is unwell. I pray for quick recovery. The family can sit him down and chart a way forward. The cabinet should play its part as per the provision of the constitution of Zambia.

    • @THE RICHMAN, why do you think you are not sick yourself??? Please just worry about yourself for you equally vulnerable. Do not cry for others but rather cry for yourself and your children. And prepare adequately so that when you fall you won’t die easily yourself.

  12. Whereas in the past I used to get upset with Sata whenever he made a fool of himself at public platforms, yesterday I only felt sadness and pity for the man who is being unduly subjected to so much stress which he clearly can no longer handle. The man that opened Parliament yesterday is clearly very ill and no doctor worth his salt could have allowed the kind of exercise he was subjected to. Dr. Kaseba as a medical doctor would have advised any of her patients in the state of health her husband is in not to undertake yesterday’s activity and instead take a number of days off. Alas, selfishness and greed have taken over medical considerations resulting in the tragic spectacle we were made to endure yesterday. Surely this Cabinet should have a heart and request a medical board as per the…

  13. Evil predictions will never come to pass. Evil people will never succeed! You speculated that the President was dead, that the President will not speak for more than 10 minutes, and what else…? You even demanded to see Sata in public. Now that he has managed to open parliament, and has showed up in Public, you drop your demands and call for the President to step down. You even mockingly say that you feel for the President…You don’t feel for him, you only wish him dead!

You people have no element of shame! You have no strategy to wrestle power from Sata and the only thing is to wish him dead so that you can dubiously takeover the reigns. Your level of thinking is too low to rule the intelligent people of Zambia. We all can see through your evil schemes. Shemuneni Bane…Shemuuuuuu!

    • Very true, these guys just came from bye election walloping and are scared of elections, so they only thing they wish for is death to the president so they can take over. They have nothing to offer and mind you some of them only exist in online tabloids and regional areas. We know how the current leader of UPND became leader of his party. Zambians are awake and it will never happen. You will retire just being UPND leader who has never faced an election. Sata formed PF from the scratch and came to power. No short cuts or praying for someone to die, just sheer hard work. We have no opposition but a bunch of useless selfish fools.

  14. Why do the opposition try to apply cheap politics where it’s not supposed to be applied, yesterday u said His majesty won’t manage to open parliament claiming that he was in a terrible condition now that u didn’t see wat u expected u want 2 blame the Pf,the man is stil strong and he’s expected in new york 2day 4 the Un summit,SHAME

  15. Tell them, some pipo are just stupid especially upnd shame on them if they think they can rule this country with their foolishness 2getha with their frustrated president “HH” Half Human

  16. PF government does not believe their president is sick. Precisely for this poor reasoning that they pride in parading a sick, pitiful looking, voiceless man. To PF it is a normal and usual day. Let PF cadres continue parading a sick president to the public to stare at him suspiciously as in a zoo looking at a strange creature. The sick president is on his way for international viewing for the world to look at, and loath disc ency of Zambian politics. Opposition should not hinder this progressive move by government as they hold the preserve of wisdom and discency in looking after the sick. PF cadres have already began to accuse opposition in expressing their dismay how Mr sick Sata is mistreated by his party. Let us only watch and wait what lies a head of this drama.

  17. Those condemning the masses who wants to president to rest are insecure of their jobs, but all well meaningful Zambians who wants sata to retire are the ones who care and love him.whenever am sick my 5 year daughter always advise me to rest and not go for work, that’s why she is called dad ‘ baby.sata will still get the best doctors and prolong his life for few more years.otherwise cvt

    • @chikubabeniso

You are correct. The problem is actually the cockeyed way cadre people view Sata’s health. The people who really care and want Sata to let go of his hectic job and prolong his life are regarded as haters and malicious. I don’t know if these people are aware that they are the evil ones to insist a sick man must just carry on. The Sata we saw is far from fit, he is in effect dying and that’s the brutal truth. I

  18. Sorry to open an old wound but Zambia needs a President of Kabimba’s stature if he can change everything about himself.

  19. The opposition parties, civil societies and concerned citizens have talked and speculated exhaustively about Sata’s health and yesterday we were presented with physical evidence of his alarming deteriorated health. We now have proof that PF is 1diotic for hiding Sata’s true state. It’s time now action. Start a campaign to bring in a medical board. That’s the only way forward.

  20. The state at which we are now is wait for what the PF zealots, both in cabinet and parliament, are going to say after what the general public witnessed on Friday 19 September 2014. We want to hear what else they are going to tell us apart from “fit and working normally”. We saw for ourselves that the president is not in a state to sit in an office not even for 30 minutes. He is bed-ridden. If the PF zealots are genuine they will save this country from degeneration by doing the right thing. If they are in government to eat and loot, they will cook up another story as they have always done to keep Sata at the helm so that they do not lose the source of their loot. We are watching from the terraces…….

  21. If the man himself is fit, who are you in the opposition to bring him down? You think you have it all mapped out pretty well huh? Sata goes, you come in? Is this what your opposition presidents are telling you? to spread messages of doom, falsehood and ill-will? Zambians, we are better than this. Much better.
Respect his Royal Higness, Mr. MC Sata and let him finish his 2 terms for which he has been duly elected. Yes, even 2016 is an automatic go through for us. True Zambians love the man, we know you Zezulu’s and Hutus can’t love. They are foreigners

    • So Kudos and Gen are one and the same person!! The mask is slowly lifting.

For your information the title is “His Excellency the President” and not his royal majesty. We are not a monarchy like Swaziland. The man, our Head of State, His Excellency Mr. Michael Chilufya Sata WAS elected by the people and not “imposed” by God as royalists usually claim. He competed with others and won. We respect him for that. If your memory has space to store good things try to remember that it was the same HH, Milupi, EZNawakwi, and Miyanda who pleaded with ECZ & MMD to release the remaining results even when they knew they had lost. They are better pipo than you. You distort good politics. Concentrate on crime and be caught soon.

  22. Who is Mushota?

This person is mocking the President. Is this what it comes to when people are wishing you dead? Surely, anyone can see that the big man is not well. It is sad that such a once-vibrant man is now being made fun of by people like Mushota. Yaba. Anyway, his creator is seeing what is going on. May God bless the big man.

  23. These cheap opposition Members of Parliament should just be proactive to good governance and progressive policies by President Sata and his PF government, other than just walking out of the house during debates and then go and withdraw allowances.

  24. Very true the big man needs to rest. its should be put on record that PF minions are the ones killing our beloved president. Please Mr President its time to rest you have done enough for mother Zambia its time to step down.
Its time for all patriotic zedians to stand up and be counted… we cant allow hyenas to kill our grandfather. I repeat the president needs to rest what we were subjected to yesterday (19.09.14) was very unfair. Zambia is for 13 million plus peaceful citizens … it should not be held at ransom by hyenas and jackals … am very annoyed !!

  25. Whether you hate him or say bullsh*t about him, he’s your president. The country has only one head of state despite having many family presidents like HH, Milupi, Nevers, Milongotti. God put him to lead Zambia period.

  26. Lusaka Times, your reporters are sometimes pathetic. The Kasenengwa MP is Victoria Kalima. Look what you wrote and tell me if it makes any sense:

‘MMD Kasenengwa declared that President Sata delivered an empty speech. “I’m disappointed he could come here and just crack jokes when the people of Kasenengwa wanted to hear his vision for the rural areas and he clearly struggled to read. They should allow him to step aside and rest,” Ms. Kasenengwa said.’

  27. Accepting that the president is not well is the first step to helping him. I agree with everyone saying our president is not well. I admire even his courage of facing the people in parley in his current state.
I understand how much he would love to see Zambia developed but at times we need to pass the torch to others to complete the race either in PF or other parties; for our common interest is to see Zambia develop.
    Amen!

  28. Not long from today, I will be harvesting my crops. Imagine where aka Charlie Mwango Katongo Sata will be, and it will be so. Hold the line! Stay with me Zambia! It’s because Sata has already found himself isolated between two huge bull elephant tasks, speaking in a wierd broken voice addressing a troope of scheming family jungle monkeys with a torch shining on his ugly face! He ought not be troubled. For he is in kwaShimwalule, he is already dead!

  29. Imprezza why talk about the where a bouts of youth and the civil society. you want to incite them against the the state. do not use the youth to fight your political battles. if you think the youth will join you then you have got it all wrong. Opposition MPs speak as if they love the president when in actual fact they do not. Remember every businessman bears his tooth in a false smile.

  30. 19TH SEPTEMBER, 2014 BE DECLARED A CIRCUS PARLIAMENT DAY

PF MUST STOP EMBARASSING ZAMBIANS. DR. KASEBA WHERE ARE YOU TO ALLOW YOUR HUSBAND TO BE TREATED LIKE THAT BY THE PF CABINET? MULENGA SATA AND OTHER RELATIVES COULD YOU SURMON THE COURAGE AND STOP THE PF CABINET FROM ABUSING YOUR FATHER AND OUR REPUBLICAN PRESIDENT. I ASSURE YOU THE CABINET IS JUST INTERESTED IN MAINTAING THEIR JOBS. EVEN THE TRIP TO USA IS IRRELEVANT IF I HAD POWERS I CAN REFUSE SATA NOT TO GO . THAT IS BEING EVIL. THE PARTY TO TRAVEL WITH SATA ARE JUST INTERESTED IN GETTING THE ALLOWANCES IN DOLLARS THAT IS TOTAL ABUSE OF OUR PRESIDENT.
WHERE IS THE MEDICAL BOARD, TO STOP THE PF CABINET FROM ABUSING THE SICK PRESIDENT. THE CABINET IS MILKING ” HONEY ” FROM SOME ONE NOT CABLE OF SUSTAINING THEM. SHAME ON…

  31. please stop insulting Mushota on this space, That is very degrading. She is the only blogger with her real photo. Just because she is a good debater does not meant she should be insulted. Respond to her comments.

  32. Funny when you opposition MP’s were hoping for his death and now that he came, you want to blind us with your crocodile sympathy? In any case, what ***** was too drunk not to go through the speech before he addressed the assembly?

  33. Even the archaic constitution we use today grants cabinet power to institute a medical board to determine the health status of the president.

It is plain and clear to see that HEMCS is tired/old/sick and needs to rest.
Zambia will not crumble without HEMCS — in fact, it may even develop without him!

Let us all be fair guys, the man needs to rest. (Do we need another state funeral?)

    #OneZambia

  34. Why should the President rest when he is working for the country? If he takes a break, who would do the job? I find this campaign tricky and one which smells blood.

  35. ala mwe bantu tamwaba na fisuma talemoneka presido ati he his hidding, amoneke ati iyo, but you people, now today the opposition has seen that mr sata is not well.

  36. The same foul mouthed MPs were forcing govt to go and visit the President in State House. They believed in galus barking in hh’s backyard that he was in a vegetative state. Very sick minded MPs.
