Some Kasama residents have condemned the storming of the Zambia National Broadcasting Cooperation (ZNBC) News room in Lusaka by senior members of the ruling Patriotic Front led by Youth and Sport Minister Chishimba Kabwili.
In an interview with ZANIS today the residents have demanded an immediate apology by the group to the Board, Management and staff of ZNBC.
Paul Sinyangwe a resident of Newtown area appealed to politicians to desist from harassing and intimidating journalists as their field was a profession just like that of teachers, lawyers and doctors.
He added that what the minister and the group did was undemocratic and exhibited lack of leadership skills and wondered the role of police presence at Mass media Complex.
And Anti-Voter Apathy (AVAP) Northern and Muchinga Provinces Information Officer Job Mwila has advised Mr. Kambwili to find amicable ways of resolving issues once aggrieved than to reduce his stand ing in society.
He further advised Mr. Kambwili to learn that ZNBC as a public service institution was not a political ground and should leave journalists to do their work as they serve the people.
And Transparency International Zambia says it is dismayed by the alleged conduct of Information and Broadcasting Services Permanent Secretary Chanda Kasolo and other senior government officials to interfere with the ZNBC editorial policy, as confirmed by ZNBC Board Chairperson Dr John Mulwila.
In a letter to Mr Kasolo dated 25th November,2015 ,obtained by QFM News, TIZ Executive Director Goodwell Lungu reminds Mr Kasolo that as Information Permanent Secretary, his key role is to ensure that ZNBC provides free,fair,professional and unbiased news and other programme coverage of both opposition and ruling parties.
Mr Lungu points out that this is in accordance with the Electoral Code of Conduct statutory instrument no.90 of 2006 of the Electoral Act no.12 of 2006, adding that Mr Kasolo’s conduct is a direct affront agaGoodwell-Lungu-TIZinst the code of conduct.
He states that ZNBC is not owned by the ruling party or the ministry of information but the Zambian people who are entitled to be given free and fair coverage of political events.
Mr Lungu has since commended ZNBC Board Chairperson Dr John Mulwila for coming out clearly to expose these acts and has called on Zambians to fully support this.
He however states that TIZ does not agree with the directive that all statements to ZNBC should be in written and signed as this may be exploited to again disadvantage the opposition who are most vulnerable in this case.
Mr Lungu points out that most rallies that are now underway will not have written and signed speeches as demanded by the ZNBC Board, and has since called on the board to drop the aspect of signed statements and allow fair coverage both the opposition and ruling parties.
And MR Lungu has called on the Anti Corruption Commission to immediately institute investigations against all senior government officials on the allegations of abuse of office as raised by Dr Mulwila.
Dr Mulwila in his statement stated that the threats to dismiss ZNBC Director of News and Current Affairs Kenneth Maduma and his staff from employment on account of doing their professional work amount to abuse of authority of office and a crime.
ZNBC are a controlled media, and all the leaders Maduma etc were handpicked by PF
It is only normal for PF to intervene if as my sources tell me there was undue advantage by ZNBC to be reporting on HH instead of who put them on where they are in PF

@Mushota; am only going to refer to your inflated ego regarding your BB 2014 title. I personally think it was all LT who gave you that title and here is why. I have noticed that only between 10% and 12% of the readers leave a comment on almost all the hot topics. If you don’t believe me scan all the stories of yesterday and the day before and see the pattern for yourself. Of the 10% or 12% of the responses, at least 95% of them are bonafide LT patrons. The most replies I have seen on a topic was 170. And if I may say so, those are the ones likely to vote. So for LT to come up with the numbers that they did for the tallied votes is baffling.

In fact ZNBC were doing PF a favour because if they reported on them its about the fights that they are having and I am sure thats not the publicity they need. HH has started campaigning while PF is still pondering on who will lead them. What a shame to the ruling party. Kambwili is one of the candidates for the PF Presidency, I think he has just de-campaigned himself.
Clear perception of the Zambian Politics, it’s a shame that acts are all pointing just direct to progressive failure. The World is watching. Who stormed the ZNBC, is it Chanda Kasolo or Anthony Kasolo.? And between these two, there is one who not so long ago murdered his nephew. He strungled the boy at Kabulonga Boys’ school grounds and later dumped the poor boy at JAZZ Club in Longacres residential area. Can someone help me identify the murderer btw these two please. I remember it was a Kasolo guy and he tried to plead insanity to escape the long hand of the law. Which one amongest the two. They all look deadly pamenso.

IF KAMBILI WAS JIGIZ I would not buy and eat. Just from his face I have failed to have my supper. Is he from space or mother earth? Some one clarify, I last saw such a creature in a horror movie. The creature was surrounded by bats, owls, and other things that “go bump in the night”
