The suspension of acting President Guy Scott as party leader by some members of the Patriotic Front (PF)’s Central Committee has taken a new twist.

Fourteen Central Committee members have now reconciled with Dr Scott and tendered their profound apologies to the Acting Head of State.

Earlier, the Central Committee suspended President Scott as party leader amid a power struggle ahead of elections in January.

However, it is not clear whether PF National Chairperson, Inonge Wina, and Information Minister, Joseph Katema, have tendered their apologies to Dr Scott or not as the duo have not signed the communique.

In a communique made available to ZANIS in Lusaka today, the 14 members un-reservedly withdrew their action and regretted the embarrassment they have caused on Dr Scott.

“We, the under-signed members of the PF party Central Committee who met to suspend His Excellency Dr Scott as acting President of PF party, do hereby tender our profound apologies. We therefore un-reservedly withdraw our actions regarding this matter and we regret the embarrassment this may have caused on Dr Scott,” the statement read in part.

Those that appended their signatures in the statement tendering their profound apologies to Dr Scott are Education Minister, John Phiri, Northern Province Minister, Freedom Sikaswe, Jean Kapata (Tourism), Yamfwa Mukanga (Transport) and Chiefs and Traditional Affairs Deputy Minister, Susan Kawandami.

Others are P Kashula, J. C. Chisanga, B. Chali, Rasford Mwale, Sylvester Mtonga, Atanny Mwamba, Mofya Chiposo, W. Kamayoyo and Stardy Mwale.

A power struggle ahead of elections in January has engulfed the PF with stakeholders and party members appealing to the party to bury their differences or risked losing in next year’s presidential election.

Defence and Justice Minister, Edgar Lungu, is hinted to be the party’s favourite to contest the presidency and consequently take over from late president Mr Sata’s legacy.

A few days ago, the Central Committee led by PF Isoka MP, Malozo Sichone, accused Dr Scott of demonstrating “unconstitutional conduct”.

Mr. Malozo argued that since the president’s death, it has become clear that Dr Scott has been following his own agenda of hiring and firing people for no apparent reason and without consulting the highest organ of the PF party, the Central Committee.

But acting President, Guy Scott, in a separate interview could neither refuse nor accept the apology by the 14 Central Committee members.

Dr Scott said he would issue a comprehensive statement to the nation tomorrow.

“I’ll issue a comprehensive statement to the nation tomorrow,” Dr Scott said.

PF Secretary-General, Bridget Atanga, recently informed the nation that the decision by the Central Committee was invalid, as only Dr Scott has got powers to call a meeting of the Central Committee.

Mrs Atanga stated that Dr Scott, who took over after President Michael Sata died last month, remains interim president until the poll.

  1. Great! Next follow through with the convention or general conference this weekend whatever you call it. Choose a new team and hit ground running as per usual. No false promises and may the best team win.

    Only the smart people of the Zambian Enterprise can choose their own destiny, they may retain you or choose some other team. Zambia Is Greater Than Any Single One Of Us.

    • …………..No false promises ………………….

      so will the ‘new’ pf team abandon the vision i.e. ‘lies’ of the late MC Sata? If that is the case won’t they be accused by party faithfuls of abandoning the legacy of the great departed leader……the legacy of:

      >>refusal to discuss Barotse Agreement and arresting activists;
      >>devalued kwacha
      >>civil service laden with nepotistic appointed ps, directors, diplomats etc;
      >>high cost of mealie meal, fuel, groceries but with wage freeze;
      >>high govt borrowing, high politicians salaries, allowances;
      >>rampant corruption in road contracts;
      >>high cost of living resulting from subsidy removal;
      >>abuse of public order act, storming of ZNBC;
      >>no support to UNZA…

    • APOLOGY accepted
      What of Nsanda and Katema expel them!
      All you naysayers that think we are divided, we are not.

      If you can find it in your heart to forgive us (PF) please do, we promise to act exemplary and in the best interest of PF and most Importantly Zambia.
      We are united and seek your approval to vote us for continued development. The first year was about finding our feet then 2 years was about correcting the MMD wrongs, Give us another 6 years for the sake and in memory of Mr Sata to show REAL growth you will not be disappointed.
      For the memory of Mr sata let us vote PF

      Thanks

    • @Haleisa Halelanda

      By training and work I have to research and apply my mind critically to rebut my opponent as I seek justice for the other side.

      So my colleague, by evidence, rebut the issues I have listed as in my view they speak for themselves (lawyers jargon …. res ipsa loquitur)

  2. Great u are united again ba PF we just hope for the BEST for PF BUT STILL UPND is carrying the day come 21/01/2015.
    Even if u settle fpr Lungu or Miles Sampa.

    Its FlightHH2015 chabbe…….!!!

  3. Keep dreaming Anderson! PF is no a match to a tribalist/baby party. Even if all Tongas plus cows voted for your party PF will still pull through.

    • Even if all the monkeys in the world including those who eat them were to be enlisted PF will bite the dust come 21 January 2015. Only id1ots will vote for PF.

    • A iwe CHIEF tribalist behave yourself. Why dont you attack Sata whose cabinet is full of Bemba ethnics? Was PF voted into power by Bembas and monkeys?

  4. Pf is going nowhere without Lungu being considered as Pf leader. They might consider the party dead. All roads lead to UPND

    • NO, you are wrong. The party will not die because of Lungu. To the contrary, the party will get even more votes because most Zambian voters are decent, they dont vote for gamblers, swindlers or drunkards.

  5. This is the EL Cartel already in shambles and total disarray. They must all been drunk when they voted to suspend Guy Scott.

  6. Family quarrels can be healthy. How do you expect adults to tolerate perceived nonsense? At the root of every conflict is difference in dealing with the same situation. There unity in diversity.

  7. PF clearly do not understand governance, you cannot have a central committee meeting at a state venue, thats why a party must have a relationship with either a hotel or conference centre.

  8. So if Edgar Lungu was to become president does it mean Willy Sanda will be his Vice?and knowing politics all those hooligans will be recycled. Please Zambians lets vote wisely this time around we dont need these derespectful thugs like Chishimba Kambwili and willy sanda.

  9. Well now they’re slowly coming back to their senses and hopefully they calm down so we can reflect while we prepare for a new era of leadership. I would like UPND to fotm the next govt, but I’m afraid the people indorsing HH have no credibility and he might not voted into power due to his association with them.

    • The HH party is having a field day on Millennium radio and on Tonga FM (Sky). HH has promised to turn Kanyama into Kabulonga and to convert all grade 7 street vendors into graduates. Rubbish Utopia supported by finished and disgraced politicians like Mwanga and Masheke.

      Very soon reality will set in when the Lungu machinery moves into gear overdrive. The people of Zambia have tested real development under PF and will rally behind EL for continuity. All the governance weaknesses under Sata will be addressed and then we shall be a Middle income country.

    • @ The observer;
      I am curious at your statement that the people endorsing UPND have no integrity. Fair enough. Now tell me about the integrity in PF.
      These are the folks who lied about the constitution prior to which they had incessantly harassed Mwanawasa about the same issue. They presided over the most expensive prices of foodstuffs and unemployment. These are the people whose cadres hacked and even maimed people at the Woodlands stadium during a UPND rally and smashed people.s cars at Chelstone police station in June; appointments into foreign and civil service was loaded with nepotism and tribalism and you can actually still believe them? Talk about integrity and I shall show you that this is a red herring as far as PF is concerned

    • I ve been waiting for more money in my pocket from your so called credible PF for 3 years instead my pockets are full of nothing but holes. Instead of putting more money in the pockets of the farmers your credible PF has put ditches in their pockets. Did the PF steal the money for the farmers or use it for King nkombola’s medical care in the name of’nabulafye?

  10. That is good to know. It ought to be like that, re-uniting. I know even so many candidates is ok, for true democracy to flourish within the party. After elections the small fractures, small fractures and small polarisations will easily mend and form a good force under the chosen leader. There is great stake to loose foolishly. Go opposition and you will regret any foolish act each one contributed to the current chaos. I would like to say to the president in waiting, do not fire anyone, maintain all people in their current potifolios until after the by-elections. PF still has a great following, so many MPs, why should you go into that self distractive mood as if you are all drunk! Put the ball on the ground, united you are a force to reckon with. The minority parties know that very well.

  11. Yes, starting this coming Sunday, PF hits the ground campaigning without straining to explain a point. Wherever Zambians are in Zambia there is something they will point at as evidence of PF development agenda. Winning the January 20, 2015 presidential election will be as easy as drinking water for PF. Woe to the undiscerning HH and his adulterated UPND, who have been caught unprepared. They have nothing to put across as their vision. Instead, they are steeped in relishing on PF campaign promises made prior to 2011 election. Sekeniko bane. Natubawele, oooooooohhh, natubashise shiiiiiiiiiii.

  12. Apart from continuing infrastructure development started by MMD what has PF done: I need help:
    – cadres killing each other , potential for national conflicts and no peace
    – high cost of mealie meal and other commodities
    – tribal appointments
    – thugs ruling – storming ZNBC newsroom
    – high fuel cost
    – high transport cost
    – lies every day
    – dirty cities and towns
    – wage freeze
    – persecution of opponents
    -giving contracts to cadres at state house
    – insulting chiefs
    – DRUNKEREDS
    I HAVE NOT SEEN ANY ACHIEVEMENTS BY PF I NEED HELP.

    • Some achievements have been there but the issue is, are they enough?
      More challenges in three years:
      1. Failed constitution
      2. Health Workers(Nurses) fire without considering that they are essential workers.
      3.Recruitment freeze

      PF has run its race and it has been unsatisfactory.

    • @Jameson Kaliza

      At the heart of the heart rending entry of mukamfwilwa Kaseba into the pf political fray is her desire to uphold the husband’s, MC Sata, legacy as she maintains that she was with him when he ‘birthed’ it.

      The Country has reeled in a spiral of the shameful legacy characterised by:

      >>unbridled nepotism and corruption
      >>incompetence and hooliganism
      >>rubbishing of culture and traditions

      etc

  13. Bwana Lungu lost this battle the moment he handed over power to Scott. All Scott had to do is follow the law whilst planning ahead.

    But why now, with so many positions and earning good money, why now? They have clearly run out of options. You were winning all you had to do is follow your constitution. Why did you choose to alarm and embarrass the nation? Sorry is not good enough, what were you trying to hide? Did you and your friends loot the country during the short time you were in power? Is it why you wanted to be president to protect yourself and your friends (no chance of wining at the conference)? Scott has lifted the bar, its law and order now. This means most opposition leaders have no chance of winning (people will start asking relevant questions often. E.g Privatisation?).

    • Scot has been firm and decisive………good leadership qualities for whoever will take over. Katema is the one who has been championing that EL was anointed by MCS by the fact that he was left as acting President. Not enough reason Dr. Katema to support ET. Find life Hon Dr. Katema to move on not that TV interview you had to start ET”s campaign. Sorry Sir you have to swallow your pride and apologize to Guy Scot……..If you say Sorry Dr Katema, were is your loss???

    • Kikikiki, ATI we want debates really? These so called debates they are calling for now will end their political careers (debate scenario, first question goes to HH, “nomba apo pali PRIVATISATION na KCM ba aspiring candidate care to explain”?) Ba kalatakata left right at the debates I cant wait, Zambians are educated now, expect point black questions, no beating about the bush on live T.V, haha its not a good idea. That made my day when I came across it a while back. Where is Alexander the Great Chikwamda?? And who’s side is he on. I cant seem to figure out what he is planning. Is he a big shot in P.F or not?

  14. Willie nsanda&joseph katema are not factors in PF,mind you if Kaseba is picked on PF ticket trust me more mothers will vote for her because they will know this is there only chance to rule the country & that will trigger more misery on HH’s ambitions to rule.

  15. No chance for Edgar Lungu. The man is a thug. Look at the group of people pushing for his candidature:

    Emmanuel Mwamba
    Willy Nsanda
    Chilekwa Munkonge
    Alexandra Chikwanda etc

    Look at the violence we have experience in this country since Lungu’s hopes to stand for presidence were raised. Very threatening. Zambia will be on fire to have the likes of Lungu as president and Willy Nsanda as vice.

    Remember there are lot of things going at Road Development Agency in which Willy Nsanda is involved and hence pushing for docile Lungu’s candidature.

    Pf should not make a mistake to have this man run for presidency otherwise no vote from me and my family. Bye

    • In my young days in a jurisprudence class, I was to be told that a State is defined as an institution vested with the legitimate use of force!! So, like many Zambians, I have been watching the soap opera in PF.

      My conclusion is that:

      a. the candidate who can help mount a credible challenge at the vacancy at plot 1 is Edgar Lungu. He has the majority support in PF and certainly has a following outside PF.
      b. Guy Scott and the cartel will block Edgar Lungu from winning the party’s nomination.
      c. As has happened in the past when a popular candidate is barred, Lungu will fuse into another party and make a spirited dash for plot 1 in a duel with HH.
      d. PF will effectively split and the presidency wont be from PF,

  16. I may sound hash but someone needs to be punished for what has transpired during the past few weeks (it should had been all about celebrating the life of the Late president), how disrespectful and cold can one be to cause such a noise? These are the people we are dealing with, lawlessness, sorry won’t do. If all is forgiven the same thing will happen again 100% sure. Another one will pull another stunt and hold the nation at ransom again … just saying we need to learn from our mistakes and then move forward.

    • Susanoo, you have the ability to look at the truth and utter false statements. Guy Scott brought shame to our country. High jacked the Presidents office, sacked, suspended, unsacked and now we wait with bated breath for his lifting of the suspensions……..suspect some dumb move.

      Lungu is the chosen candidate. You have to be Blind, Deaf and seeing imaginary things to think any if the others have a hope.

      The only positive thing that will happen if Lungu is not chosen, is the end of PF.

  17. Let this chap Lungu form his own political party and see if he will win.

    He can’t join other forces. The chaps are damn scared of what they have done and are likely to face prosecution.

    Lungu and his group have already invested so much with funds coming from RDA by printing T shirts and other campaign materials before they are even adopted and hence the panic to stand.

    Lungu is another William Banda and if PF adopts him, we will have a lot violence and deaths in the country because this chap is working with known thugs.

  18. This was a good move by the MPs. A great mind can stoop to conquer.

    They have made a good move. Guy Scott, is nothing but a crook and is humiliating indigenous Zambians. His response is typical. He cannot accept nor refuse……..

    Why has he not suspended Masebo, Kasolo, and Kambwili for misconduct if he is such a disciplinarian? Remember A picture of Idi Amin being lifted on a chair by two white men and all the racial connotations of that? Guy Scott is treating the ‘Blacks’ in that way. How did we come to have this White man in position of power?

    You can see he has reached a stalemate in his game and we can hardly wait for his press release in which the fatuous, morally depraved White Facist is going to ask the Blacks to Bow Down to him and then carry him high on a…

    • This fatuous, morally depraved White Facist is going to ask the Blacks to Bow Down to him and then carry him high on a chair.

      He is trying to wriggle out of lifting the suspensions because he needs them to stay out until after the convention. Imagine a White man, denying democratically elected Indigenous Zambian MPs the right to vote! Now he is sitting in secret with the new A team, Kambwili, Masebo, Kasolo, plotting how to make sure the numbers remain low.

      He is going to issue a humiliating press release in which the ‘Golden Calf’
      Will make much of the non- believers who have accepted to bow to him, ‘Hail the conqueror!’ But all we are going to see is a man who needs taking down away from our Presidents office. This man is unacceptable at all levels.

  19. Lets move forward …. @Madness – You’ve got to be the bluntest tool in the tool box! How much nonsense can come out of a morons mouth!

    • Susanooo, perhaps I have too many ooos there. Let’s all play ‘Ostrich’ and bury our head in the sand. There there now……that’s better.
