Inspector General of Police Stella Libongani has advised political parties to notify the police every time they are holding campaigns.

Ms. Libongani said apart from political rallies, police have not been informed about processions like door to door campaigns and other party activities.

ZANIS reports that the Inspector General of Police said this in an interview at Mansa Police Station during her tour of the province.

Ms Libongani said the police is concerned with the general safety of everyone adding that it is through such activities that they have received reports of assault.

She however said the police have received positive response from political parties who are fielding in Presidential candidates on various campaign engagements especially public rallies and so far have recorded incident free rallies.

She added that the police have waved off the payment of fees on police reports on those who have lost their voters cards after a request from the Electoral Commissioner of Zambia.

She added that people should take advantage of this development to get voters card and exercise their right to vote in the January 20 2015 elections.

The Inspector General of Police has since urged youths in the country not to be used as tools of violence and to desist from political bribery during election time.

  1. Iwe ka Libongani, there is no need when it is campaign time now to get permission from u. You want to give advantage to Pf. You are stup!d and we will take u on.

    • Where did she say ask for permission. According to what I’ve read, she said inform the Police which I think is a good idea – what with all these machete-wielding cadres all over the place.

    • My advice to Libongeni is leave the parties organise their rallies and hold them without police interference then you go down in history as the most changed police IG. The next government will definitely honour you for not blocking and making their holding of rallies difficult.

If you shun my advice then expect the worst when the government takes over.

    • Believe me Madam Libongeni, my words come to pass, not that I am a prophet, No. But I use available data to analyse situations and then draw conclusions. If you have been following my comments you will realise that most of the things I have said will happen have indeed come to pass.

So ignore my advice at peril.

  2. Is she from planet mars for her to say these rallies ve been incident free? What about the MUVI TV reporter who was bundled up by the Lusaka based PF cadres last Saturday in Mongu? To you Libongani violence is only violence when the opposition panga PF? Libongani, your days are numbered.

  3. Why during campaign period? So that the police have enough notice to brutalize supported of UPND. We saw it happen at Woodlands Police.

By the way, on the removal of the fee for lost voters cards, did the Minister of Finance clear this measure. That is a non-tax revenue measure which falls under the Minister of Finance.

  4. Was she still mourning her uncle? These jobs we get because of bottom power will always give us problems.
Scot directed that you sort out the Mongu thugs and you decide to go to Mansa? This woman must be fired on HH’s first press conference.

  5. Only 30 days for Libongani,Solomon & their ill educated cronies.Kalaba & his cronies are very worried with their jobs including their relatives & side plates in foreign missions.
