Nevers Mumba (L) with former president Rupiah Banda
FLASHBACK Nevers Mumba (L) with former president Rupiah Banda

Northern Province Movement for Multi-Party Democracy (MMD) Information and Publicity Secretary Cephas Bwalya has called on former President Rupiah Banda to support Dr. Nevers Mumba following the Supreme Court’s decision to reinstate Dr. Mumba.

Mr Bwalya said the party in the Province is happy that the confusion in the party has finally come to an end. Mr Bwalya said Mr. Banda should not fight the party.
The Information and Publicity Secretary accused members of parliament in the MMD that are supporting UPND President Hakainde Hichilema of being wrong seeds in the party.Mr. Bwalya further said that the MMD will soon announce nominations for members of parliament to stand in the 2016 Presidential and general elections.

The Supreme Court yesterday ruled that Dr. Nevers Mumba be re-instated as MMD party President and be allowed to contest the Presidential by-election slated for 20th January, 2015.

Meanwhile Movement for Multi-Party Democracy (MMD) leadership in Muchinga Province has welcomed the Supreme Court ruling to allow Dr. Nevers Mumba contest the January 20, 2015 Presidential by-election. Provincial MMD Chairman Frank Bowa said the party in the province is happy with the court ruling to re-instate the embattled party President Dr. Mumba.

Mr. Bowa said the party will now go flat out to campaign for its leader and ensure that he wins the forthcoming Presidential by-election.The Provincial MMD Chairman said the party in the province is still very strong and will give all the participating political parties a good run for their money.

Mr. Bowa has since called on all MMD party loving members to forget about the past and rally behind its leader Dr. Mumba whom he said is destined for State House after the January 20, 2015 Presidential by-election.

  1. Just asking: if it is true that EL stole client’s money, can EL then be called a thief? Has he repeated? Is he born again? Is it in order to have CEO of the country who was once convicted of having stolen client’s money & his practicing license withdrawn for that matter? PF cadres, I am just asking. Zambia is also my country and I seriously get worried when someone with long fingers is put in charge of an entity like Zambia especially when the current constitution is so weak and favours the CEO.

    • YES/Come to Copperbelt with those questions. They will tell you that
EL ,whether rain or sun shine, come 2015 he will be the President
      of Zambia.

People in Copperbelt are waiting for tomorrow`s nominations,
once this is done, then EL will be declared the free man of the
      Province.

Here we talk about HH with caution many people have got a wrong
perception about Tongas not only in politics but also in employment,
marriage e.t.c. These perception must be purged before it is too late.

    • convicted? Do you understand the meaning of being convicted? My guess is you are too dull to understand the meaning of being convicted. Go back to your learners dictionary, that is if you even have a dictionary and search the word convicted. Seriously, some of you bloggers on this site are educationally challenged.

    • The sad truth is as Zambians we are shortsighted, have little or no memory of past events and as such we’re too easily governed. As long a candidate promises some food for us, all moral considerations we planned for him fly out of the window.

That’s why in the past we’ve seen thieves, murderers and street thugs take up the presidency with no resistance of electorates whatsoever. Going forward, We need robust checks and serious application of rules than is the case at present.

  2. RB is such a loser, he hasn’t said anything of late or has he gone to South Africa to nurse his wife?
I guess I have lost the tiny respect I had for him.

  3. Ka Mushota must be hit below the belt. No state resources for your party campaign. PF impending loss is as predictable as what you told us last time about yourself

  4. My voters card is kept very near for HH. However, If you bring money, I will chew but my candidate remains Aleisa Aleisa. And it’s good that all other parties are fielding weak candidates

  5. I think RB is a liability and I fear for Nevers that He is going to sink MMD chance of winning.Nevers needs to provide leadership in his own right if his NEW MMD is going to be taken seriously.

The old man needs time to nurse his ill wife…..Her wife is more important even if in his eyes power is number 1priority.

    • those saying Edgar stole money can you tell us how much it was and when he stole money. and if it is true he stole money why wasn’t arrested or taken to court for the offence committed? when you advance arguments based on rumors, it shows just how easily you can be manipulated and lied to. Mr. Fair play tell us the details of the purported theft.

  7. Banda to me is a huge disappointment. He is a stuborn OLD CROOK. The son was on his side to try and save him from such an emberassmet. To me he does not deserve any sympathy, GOD FORBID. He should not even be given his retirement package, because ignorance is no defence. I do know that he collected enough during his reign, let him be. Nevers should not even bother to reconcile with such big headed old men.

  8. Its the old man who is crazy.MMD became disordered when he left but the man MUMBA has fault buttles to still create an impression of one day bouncing back. And must it be fair for Rupiah who thought there would never be time to challenge Mr Sata as he could fail to believe the man wining an election to just make a high jack on MMD?

  9. Okay Roopy?

There, there now. It’s for the best. Besides, Zambians have big hearts. Just show us some pictures of you at your wife’s bedside, holding her hand and looking suitably somber – we’ll love you again (or hate you less, whichever the case may be)

  12. Show a little sympathy for poor old RB, aka simpundu. He was misled by the fast- talking Muhabi and the man-with-many-wives Kaingu.

  13. You MMD should not allow Nevers to destroy the party. Now he wants to pick his friends to put them in NEC. MMD is not like PF where the president nominates the whole NEC. NEC positions are elective and between conventions the NEC itself nominates members to the Committee. So Nevers should be careful that he does not kill the party by getting his own people and tribesmen. It is a fact that since he took over as leader, the party has performed very badly. The bringing in of RB was because genuine members thought RB could restore it to its lost glory. Nevers should therefore not play to the gallery. Firing Lungu and Nyangu all easterners at one time is sending a wrong signal. People will think Mumba is firing them because the two are from eastern province just like RB. Wrong Move, Mr. Mumba!

  14. Nevers should not think he has won. Mr Bowa is not serious because there is no mmd in his province. Eastern will vote either HH OR EL. Let your pipo vote for you. You will fail just like you failed to run your ka church.

  15. Meanwhile
Just to inform you that all those who were booked on short lived FlightRB2015 have rebooked FlightHH2015. Talk of Victoria Kalima, Mtoro Phiri, Levy Ngoma, Kabinga Pande…wow!

FlightHH2015 has therefore accommodated almost all eastern block members.

Flight HH2015 is assured of a safe landing at plot1 come 21st January, 2015.

  16. If Lungu is considered good candidate then Zambia lacks crop of leaders needed. A culprite whose practising licence as a lawyer was only returned before death of Sata by LAZ widely reported!!

Then it is no mistake to see declining statistical mortality rate at this level of thinkin in Zambia.
