Zambia bench demands quality from home-based call-ups

Share

Zambia assistant coach Kampamba Chintu says the onus is on the home-based call-ups to prove they deserve a place in the final 23 of the 2015 Africa Cup team.

24 players gathered in Lusaka on December 15 on a nine-day camp and vying for the 12 places up for grabs for the final phase of team selection when the team regroups in Johannesburg on December 26.

“Of course there are those that have been left in the past but even us it is not always that we made it in the team so they have to be ready to fight hard. Endurance is part of football,” Chintu said.

Some of the players in line for Africa Cup debut are Nkana’s trio of striker Reynold ‘Sate Sate Kampamba, midfielder Donashano malama and defender Christopher Munthali.

Zanaco’s Roderick Kabwe, Red Arrows winger Bruce Musakanya and Choma Eagles midfielder Spencer Sautu are the other notables hoping to make the final 23 on the plane to Equatorial Guinea.

Zambia are in Group B at the tournament and drawn to play DR Congo, Tunisia and Cape Verde.

Chipolopolo will open their Group B account on January 18 against DR Congo in Ebebiyin where they will be based for the preliminary pool games.

    • Kondwani should partner. That player is simply good, I have been watching him in Indian league in past 2-3 months, he is much better off Sinkala.
However, better keep Sinkala & Spencer in double holding midfield.

      1. Mweene
      2. Katebe
      3. Mbola
      4. Kondwani
      5. Nsunzu
      6. Sinkala
      6. Spencer
      7-right mid: Chisamba
      8. Left mid: Rodrick
      9. Mayuka
      10. Kalaba
      11….. never exist any longer

This is a starting line-up which will score 3 goals in first half of each match. Then you can substitute them at your on will… just to reserve them for another 3-0 lead in next match.

  1. Home based players are always good and geared to perform. My worry is on some foreign based players who lack the zeal to put up a good fight for goals. The guys are too casual at times than home based players. We need more non profs who helped qualify. When it comes to allowances the officials must release correct amounts in time and no nchekelako to be featured. Stop ukufyenga abaiche. It is bad to feature those that give u a cut. Stop corruption in football. Others are deliberately placed or left on the bench just because they can not give a cut to officials. All players must be featured in some games. If a player is least featured then it means he may not have given something to officials. Lets hope all will be featured to avoid speculations of foul play by officials.

  2. Janza call your most prized possession and by this I mean kondwani mtonga who is now a household name in Asia. I ve been watching this guy here and he is just a marvel to watch. This guy should Partner Sunzu at the back or Sinkala in midfied. Don’t be cheated, the hero league of indian is the best league in Asia at the moment.
