MMD president Nevers Mumba successfully files in his nomination papers

MMD President, Nevers Mumba has successfully filed in his nomination papers at Supreme Court grounds.

Dr Mumba, arrived at Supreme Court grounds at about 10:50hrs in the company of his wife, Florence, and party officials, who included the MMD Acting National Secretary, Mwansa Mbulakulima among others.

The MMD President, who declared assets worth K22m, managed to raise the 200 supporters on time and successfully filed his papers before Acting Chief Justice, Lombe Chibesakunda.

And Dr Mumba told journalists after filing in his nomination papers that it has been a long journey for him but he was on the right track.

He said once voted into office, his government will uphold the Christian values in accordance with the declaration of Zambia as a Christian nation so that people live as one despite their political affiliations.

Dr Mumba said his government will also prioritise the education sector to ensure that every child goes to school.

He thanked the party officials and supporters for standing by his side, saying they should work together in the fight of winning the Presidential elections.

This morning the MMD secretariat warned that a malicious rumour had surfaced that former National Secretary Muhabi Lungu had obtained an injunction preventing MMD president Dr Nevers Mumba from filing his nomination papers as the MMD presidential candidate for next month’s election. The rumour further alleged that the expulsions of Mr Lungu and his former deputy Mr Chembe Nyangu were also similarly restrained by the injunction.

The truth is that no injunction was granted and the MMD secretariat denied being in possession of any court order regarding the expulsion of the two former National Secretaries.

The MMD secretariat warned that these kinds of false stories are the work of desperate enemies of MMD. These people sent word last night to the MMD structures telling them to stay away from the nomination of Dr Mumba so as to cause confusion by claiming that the event was postponed.

The MMD secretariat said they have not and will never succeed in stopping Dr Mumba and the MMD whom they said would shall triumph over all his enemies and get into plot one next month.

    • Now here comes our real opponent. …PF vs MMD it’s now official

2015 Edgar has just won the elections

      I thank you

    • Who is going to campaign for him, Bowman Lusambo? Mutati is leading 24 MMD MPs supporting HH. Muhabi Lungu expelled. He has to come out and state his position on these issues.

    • This is as it should be.
MMD would have been in better shape had Roopy chosen to complement, rather than detract from the hard work put in by these guys.

Bonne chance Mr. Mumba! May the best man/party win!

    • Yes this is the game all Zambians want to watch PF vs MMD. Classic. …may the best team win

Others can just fight for third and fourth place..Nawakwi will be third…..and I don’t know who will come out fourth maybe Alex Muliokela or HH…one of the two

2015 Edgar has just won the elections

  1. Nevers lets hope you get more than 2% you got last time you stood otherwise you must just aim for the second best position!

  2. May God grant you the desires of your heart dr. Mumba be glad for Jesus is on the thrown, no weapons formed against you shall prosper

2015 Edgar has just won the elections

      I thank you

  5. Well since Zambia belongs to JESUS; a freemason doesn’t have any chance , he is trading on a forbidden land you cant take the name yes the name that is above all names from our land

  6. its good news. i know that HH is winning these elections and its very clear that EL without vision is losing. what else do i want from PF? voting by hands and pangas? grabbing land by cadres? good roads (may be), late payment of farmers? forcing my child to learn in a different language each time i shift from one part of Zambia to another? employing illiterates in the foreign service? continuing obtaining loans at supersonic speed? keeping chief justice who is beyond her years? the only good thing about PF is that they really make noise when in opposition so i want to vote HH so that they PF do what they really know how to do – putting the party in government in check. with all due respect to the PF, the only good things you have left is roads. that one is a positive development.

  7. The heading and what the bloggers are putting across are too different things. I fear for these educated and not learned Zambians. Please stick to the topic.

    • HH is giving them sleepless nights, thats why even if the topic has completely nothing to do with him (HH), they cant help themselves but bring him in.

Judging by their insistence on talking about him even on erelevant topics, one would say things are brightening up for the young man. May the best man win – no rigging this time please!

  8. This article is confusing to the nation. LT had long been suspected to be pro PF and late Sata. Of late has cleverly shifted to covering people from Northern (I know they wont like this) because generally speaking PF embarked on self destruction and what remains is history. PF died with Sata (LT disdain such commentary). Edgar Lungu is nephew to late Sata. The first wife to late Sata (mother to Mulenga Sata) and E.Lungu’s mother are direct sisters. Hence, argument of E.Lungu’s mother is from Malawi.
LT is not telling its readership false rumours that Muhabi Lungu obtained an injunction restraining Nevers Mumba to file presidential papers. Yet publicised this rumour freely feeding Zambians with chaff news. No wonder you trail behind to ZWD in reporting truth.

  9. Confirming my misgiving about moral and ethical journalism LT is showing bloggers that am blogging from Canada.
I have always blogged from the UK.
Do not misinform Zambians my domicile location.

    • Infact on my screen , it shows you are blogging from kwa kanyama. Be greatful that you can even post a comment here .ZWD does not allow divergent views , that is why all upnd cadres are here because its boring at ZWD.

    • @Robin

Are you trying to say that if Aquilla were blogging from Kanyama it would be a shame? Why?
In fact if she were, it would mean that residents of Kanyama had the resources to blog on a computer (and have electricity).

Your insult is upside down, you want to pretend an eliticism that you don’t possess. Just looking at the quality of your writing tells me that you don’t come from a background of privilege where excellent private schools are the norm.

You have no reason to be a snob, sorry.

    • It’s only for your protection!!

If you are so concerned about vérité, why not just put your full name and address in your posts?

  10. One observation @ ine wine -These so called roads are shoddly done & on borrowed huge uero-bond & these very roads are not there in some areas, They are just on paper. This huge uero-bond was corruptly shared among these so called PF leaders & evidence is there.;ust wait for the inauguration ceremony of HH on 23rd -thereafter court cases starts.

    • A shoddy road is better than none.

We need to stick them for repairs. It can be sorted.

Let us concentrate on building infrastructure through all regions.

  11. Congrats Dr. Mumba the Lord is indeed with you all the way. The Lord who has helped you will help you all the way to plot one. Lesa wafisungisho
    Viva Dr. Mumba viva MMD

  12. We have too many hungry hyenas in the country who only see life in politics. A pity that the whole nation thinks that to have a succesful life you must be affiliated to politics. We really need to educate our electorate and empower them so we can have normal lives. The nation should not aways strive only on politics as there are many other important things that could benefit people besides politics. Congrats to Dr Mumba for his being so focused.

  13. This now concludes two terrible Party feuds. Let’s all calm down for Christmas!!

I can’t take any more of the lightening speed developments we’ve had in the last weeks!!

Fact is we’ve all enjoyed it.

Well done Dr Mumba. God has shown his presence in your life. Your trauma has been our proof of God’s influence in our lives. He Cares and He is; ABLE, EXCEEDINGLY. We Praise Him!

Good Luck Sir, though I am rooting for Lungu, purely because I believe Zambia will benefit from Continuity, rather than a change of direction in this short term. Lungu is sparkling right now, has all the qualities Zambia needs, a gentle strong hard, with good values. This is his season.

  14. Can anyone tell me what is happening in MMD? Is there a mutiny in its ranks? How do you have its MPs agreeing to vote to campaign for HH when they have a president standing in the January 20th elections in the name of Nevers Sekwila Mumba? I hear Mpande is leading a team of MMD MPs to support HH. Has Nevers got a hold of his party? Meanwhile he goes ahead to fire two people when his whole party is on fire? Will there be any party left after the January 20th elections? Nevers should have let RB stand in these elections, that way he could have had someone to blame for the MMD loss, now who is he gonna blame? He is losing these elections on January 20th very terribly. Is he going to fire all his MPs after the elections? Or maybe he will just fire himself. Sekwila what are you doing to MMD?
