The information circulating on the social media of Malawi and Zimbabwe suggests that Edgar Lungu and the top leadership of the PF are in discussion to consider backing the UPND Leader HH for the coming elections (so that he governs from January 2015 to October 2016) on condition that he agrees and signs to back Edgar Lungu also or any PF Presidential Candidate in 2016 (from 2016 to 2021).

The information I gathered from those that attended the rally (mostly MMD supporters) is that they want a farmer for president. HH has sold himself well as a farmer. In past elections (2008, 2011) he was overshadowed by Michael Sata, a hell of a charismatic man whom voters trusted. Edger Lungu is quite obviously failing to fit into these shoes. The pomp around EL is collapsing as voters realise he has nothing except over dependency on crooks like Emmanuel Mwamba (Katondo Boy) and Nsanda (who is now hospitalised). HH has sold himself well to peasant farmers who care little about tribe. They want a saviour, and if a Tonga man can offer it, they will go for him. Stop thinking and talking on behalf of genuine masses. Change that eluded the people under PF is now in the real arsenal, UPND.

But Paramount Chief Mpezeni of the Ngoni people refused to meet Hichilema and also denied him permission to hold his meeting there.
The Ngoni Chief attributed his refusal to Hichilema’s failure to follow procedure and “the attacks he recieves from his online paper that’s always speculating about his death”.

We wish to announce that the campaign program has been rescheduled to Monday 29TH December 2014.
PF President Edgar Lungu was due to continue his presidential campaign on Saturday 27TH December 2014.
The entire program has been rescheduled to Monday and will go on as planned.
The delay has been caused by unavailability of the Planes and Helicopters hired in this campaign trail.
The logistical delay has been caused by the current holidays.

I remember UPND leader Hakainde Hichilema leading in Internet opinion polls in 2006 beating Michael Sata and Levy Mwanawasa in a distant 2nd and 3rd.
But the electoral vote and results were markedly different.
In 2008 Hichilema was also leading in the same opinion polls. But the voter results remained different.

I don’t usually answer to people that seem intellectually challenged but @ Charles, I knew someone would pickup on the fact that some supporters have RB’s MMD regalia at HH’s UPND rallies. This my friend is a good thing! Remember MMD is split 3 ways. The two main splits are Nevers Mumba and RB and I can’t remember the third one (bloggers citation required) Of the main splits, we want RB’s supporters to join us which as you can see they are doing just that. PF cannot begin to entice RB blatantly after they threatened to take away his benefits for exercising his right to stand for presidency. Imagine your former employer withdrawing your permission just because another company has requested to use your expertise and ask you to come out of retirement as the SME. Is that fair, really?

@other side and Charles – MMD Mps in Eastern Province are campaigning for HH a reason why some few individuals are using MMD regalia. The MMD Mps endorsing HH use the “hour” symbol bcos they are still MMD altho’ for these elections they support HH. They are all trying to unseat PF because as you both know this PF govt is not performing adequately.
@One hit wonder, the 3rd MMD group comprises MPs who are bent on supporting HH. Dr. Mumba had agreed with his MPs to support HH but I think bcos of the confusion he decided he’d campaign for himself. This crowd is large. Petauke is a small town and is Edgar Lungu’s village. So for HH to pull such a crowd, in the rains, at Edgar’s village, in a small town is such an achievement. The information I gathered from those that attended the rally (mostly MMD supporters) is that they want a farmer for president. HH has sold himself well as a farmer. In past elections (2008, 2011) he was overshadowed by Michael Sata, a hell of a charismatic man whom voters trusted. Edger Lungu is quite obviously failing to fit into these shoes. The pomp around EL is collapsing as voters realise he has nothing except over dependency on crooks like Emmanuel Mwamba (Katondo Boy) and Nsanda (who is now hospitalised). HH has sold himself well to peasant farmers who care little about tribe. They want a saviour, and if a Tonga man can offer it, they will go for him. Stop thinking and talking on behalf of genuine masses. Change that eluded the people under PF is now in the real arsenal, UPND.
NO ONE CAN STOP UPND SUPPORTERS TO DREAM BIG. EASTERN IS FOR LUNGU INCLUDING MANY OTHER PROVINCES. WE SHALL SEE YOU ON 22 JAN WHEN YOU WAKE UP FROM SLUMBER AS SLEEPING BEAUTY ONLY TO FIND CHANGWA LUNGU IN STATE HOUSE.

This election is not just about tribe. There are other demographics such as workers, youth, students, the unemployed, urban vs rural, religion, gender, and education level. Unlike tribe and province, these demographics will swing the election outcome. Thanks
One more demographic: farmers. They will have a lot to say in this election. Point is road and infrastructure which the pf claim to have developed do not attract many votes because the projects do not directly speak to a specific demographic.
