    • DNPU is now trying to campaign through charts and if that fails I guess they will start campaigning through sign language. It’s like no one is buying HH’s promises…now they are using Venn Diagrams AND charts…

      2015 vote PF ( Edgar )

      I thank you

    • Ba dnpu think they can go to the Zambian people and explain the economy na ma calculators and venn diagrams….thats where they ALWAYS get it wrong!!!!….ba PF balanda na abantu not talk at people with venn diagrams…..hahaha lwalinya and they can’t get why people keep voting PF….

    • I Have always stated that ignorance and democracy are highly incompatible. This graph is like drawing a square and starting to analyze why its not a rectangle. If anyone read the report or you want me to personally forward you one by IMF you will notice a lot of deception in this LT posting by some guy we cant even identify. Please understand that Front loaded fiscal policies, reforms and investments will always result in a short to medium term deficit and inflation. Its like sowing. You cant plant and harvest the same day, it doesnt work like that, and like any farmer, you cant harvest 100%.The investments in the medium to long term will offset the deficit and all, if all goes well.Thats how it works. Dont cheat people over cheap politics. They are no winners or losers if this economy fails

    • @Haleisa , I can’t really understand what you ‘re trying to say in your post but if you are saying a square is not a rectangle then you are completely wrong. But if you said a rectangle is not a square then you are right.

    • Hanging onto PF just because of the boostele songs is ridiculous and childish. – People who support this party can’t claim performance – the figures speak for themselves. Y’all need to stop with the pride in foolish things and look at the bigger picture – its the economy stoopid!

    • “Vote for Lungu 2015″…..this should not just be a slogan by PF cadres. Tell us why we should for for Lungu. Do you even read the topic at hand or you are just programmed to use the “slogan” against each topic. Shame on you blinded and Desparate PF cadres

    • @wonzuna. my point exactly. You put up a graph with no explaination of related data, its half truth. so goes for the square.

    • Haleisa, the graph shows the economic downgrade under Sata. The related data is the graph before Sata. What other explanation do you need? Graphs are there to visually show you a trend and people with an education are able to interpret those graphs without a narrative. Am very sure there is other documentation that goes into detail but imagine a board meeting and ask why they use graphs most times to depict strategies and show company performance.

    • @dUDELOVE. I do that for a living. am not a cadre like a lot of you up in here. The keyword there is adjusted for inflation , which brings us back to the same thing. FRONT LOADING POLICY

    • Whoever this “GENIUS” is expects ‘amake Juba Nsapato’ in Katete and ‘banakulu Mposamabwe’ in Kaputa to understand a chart with a “Scale inverted to show the weak Kwacha”? A chart not even he/she seem to understand!

And what/where is the “ALL” that this chart says? Please R.L. help us mortals understand what you intend to accomplish by splashing charts on LT without any proper context to them. Mislead people?

Look, if the money was being spent to prop up Consumerism rather than Capital Investments then we should all be worried. The capital investments (roads, airports, universities, power generation, etc) being made now will take time to start contributing to the country’s overall economy/GDP. In fact given the high govt expenditure so far, the Kwacha has held up pretty…

    • Oh come now Haleisa, i may not be a Financial whizz but the change in the rate of inflation has not been that high to explain these huge disparities. The plunge has been too sudden to soon.

    • @dudelove. You should note that the 2011 budget was by MMD technically. so what does that tell you about 2011? The same thing. In 2011 RB embarked on a massive road work project, you will notice that the exchange rate started depreciating at that time and PF also continued with that and on top of that heaped wage increases for civil service ( I always say this was a bad move by PF). that dumped the rate even further knocking of significantly from the gdp. then again in 2012 the budget was increased by almost 60% . In 2010 the budget was 16.1 trillion, in 2012 the budget was 27.7 trillion that meant sustained inflationary pressure an the kwacha had no choice but to readjust to 6.0-6.5 rates

    • Am glad you have pointed all this out Haleisa and it makes sense. What I want to know are the long-term mitigating measures to counter these negatives. We now understand that the current trend does not look good and on top of that the World Bank has expressed their concern about our plans with regards repaying the bond. This concern would only come after they have studied the current fiscal policies by the PF which have obviously proved to be non-satisfactory. Lungu has already declared that it will be business as usual so that scares the crap out of some of us. This tells us that the culture to be adopted will be the ‘fika isova’ culture and that is never good for any economy.

    • Firstly Lungu is a clueless politician, HH is lost. Mitigation measures include wage freeze, which some are promising to lift and also the adjustment of retirement age by 10years, giving the government 10years relief although I hear Edgar says He will reverse it once in power (the cluelessnes am talking about) , removal of subsidies which some have promised to reinstate (this is literally been a lost economist), reduced recruitment in the short to medium term and increased revenue measures such as the proposed restructure of the mining tax regime and limit borrowing to single year expense as opposed to multi year Euro bonds. Some of these measures have been proposed in the 2015 budget, but sometimes politics over ride rational thinking

    • I would not go so far as to saying HH is lost. He is playing politics according to the Zambian Standard. Him talking economic jargon will not assure him the vote. I can bet you he understands all the stuff you are talking about and he also understands the validity of the mitigating measures you have so aptly expounded. The issue is attacking these same mitigating measures is what will get him into statehouse. That is the reality. We know that the removal of subsidies was a condition of IMF and WB which automatically means we will be in breach of these conditions if someone comes in and reverses ama subsidies. But politics is about colourful promises and not levelheadedness.

    • @ dudelove, thats why when people say PF lied I do not agree, Pf was just a bunch of disorganised guys, they had a clue of what they wanted to do but they were so clumsy at excuting. They never explained anything to anyone. Sata had to call them useless for failing to explain the subsidy issue.Have always said that the political syllubus is the same. if you are reading a diffrent book you wont pass, HH seems to have realised that, I only hope He is ready to be brutal enough to draw a line between politics and policy. Because the problems of Zambia starts from the sample composition of the electrolate. These are the type of voters who think that the government has a stuck of money hidden somewer on the moon. They are ready to believ anything that promises ‘free’ money

  1. We kept tellin PF diehards about worsening economic indicators but they called us liars.

    OK,there you have it-statistics don’t lie.

  2. With or without more money in our pockets we shall vote pf…..cause your index graph does not show the developments we ve seen in 3 yrs.

    • PF stop bragging about the so called “infrastructure developments” any President can do that besides it was at doner and tax payers funds so what’s the fuss? Secondly stop using the #tag EL2015, this is HH’s (FlighHH2015)

  3. learn to appreciate you fools. current tax threshhold is 3000, you are now not reparing your vehicles less times you used to do, coz of good of good roards. shame on this hh charp ,he is enjoying good roards yet he cant appreciate not even once. if the roards were bad he would open his month to condeme many times to condame. zambians ignore such useless charts produced by selfish individuals outside the country. vote for edga lungu and pf!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  4. Bene Katondo Boys die hard for sure till unoke.
EL is going NOWHERE MY FRIEND they cheated alot about Sata’s health.

    FlighHH2015

  5. Katondo boys who ever he is, is a mentally retarded bastard. He seems to have been born in a toilet( pit latrine). His comments are so stinking and useless like a fart. He comments without reasoning, I wonder whether he attended night school. Please be mature and make your comments more constructively.

    • Voice of reason

Just ask voters to vote for DNPU and HH my dear friend. No need to be angry.

How long have you been blogging if I may ask?

Please….you won’t get any voters with this kind of language.

You have a nice day and God bless you.

      2015 vote PF ( Edgar )

      I thank you

  6. Katondo Boys AKA Emmanuel is desperate. Not a single instance has he furnished empirical analysis to justify re-election of PF other than stupidly pronouncing that 2015 Vote PF.This so called myth about good roads will not convince voters as matters of bread and butter have not been adequately addressed in the last 3 years. My Aunty who is a farmer in Mpika recorded a bumper harvest last season and she was on a path to self sustainability until PF failed to pay her for her 2000 bags of maize. Now she has become my dependant and her story is just one of many other Zambians who have become impoverished because of poor governance. So Katondo boy, continue with your state of denial until you wake up on 22nd January to indeed find yourself on Katondo street selling stolen phones and laptops.

  7. PF has destroyed Zambia. These thugs need to go. They talk about roads, these cosmetic roads are without proper planning. We will feel the pinch of this lack of planning. The Kwacha has been at its lowest in the PFs reign. Contracts were given to family and friends of mainly Sata and Nsanda. No checks therefore very bad quality and most expensive roads in Southern Africa, mainly because of wanton theft by Sata and Nsanda. Roads in Angola are even much cheaper than these PF substandard roads. Wait and see when the rains come!

  8. Vote Edgar lungu. No am out of lies and fake polls, fake rally pictures and useless analysis will take away Edgars voters. HH supporters will cry like babies. Wait and see. Watch this space when in January LT will bring sad news to upnd supporters of the lose of HH.

  9. I suspect Katondo boys you do not have a job. You seem to be an illegal immigrant living in a foreign land. If you have money, why don’t you go back home and be A house boy for who ever you are supporting. It is better to be a house boy in your own country than be a scavenger in a foreign land. Shame on you!!!!!!

    • Katondo Boys aka Emmanuel Mwamba was tossed around from province to province as PS And finally fired by Sata due to his lies. So he’s crawled back in Kaminamisa Lungucamp with the hope of landing another job.

    • You so angry my friend.

Take it easy…..it won’t be long before the chosen one…
ONE EDGAR moves into plot 1.

…..and Zambians are scared of angry DNPU supporters. ….

      NO PLOT 1 FOR HH

      2015 vote PF ( Edgar )

      I thank you

  10. PF is a bunch of thieves, brutal vipers, wicked vultures who only want to destroy mother Zambia. No one in their right mind frames can vote for Edgar Lungu. He is like a toothless mad dog.

  11. Yesterday MUVI TV main news opinion poll put HH at 81% and Edgar at 16%. Guess what? The votes are not from Southern Province. After doing a random survey for three days at my drinking hole here in Kitwe, 4 in 5 were for HH. Iam told most community radio stations have even stopped these opinion polls because its now a formaility. Even on this forum its only Katondo boys who’s singing about roads constructed on borrowed funds. Its like boasting of having eaten 3 chickens on Christmas day using money from “kaloba”. I mean any govt can do that!!! Borrowing is easy. MMD, reckless as they were, didn’t condem us to debt trap. Watching Edgar on MUVI assignment programme yesterday tells it all,the guy fell short of conceding defeat.

  12. One-liner, really!! It shows how clueless you are. You just wasted such a good topic other than your precious time ????

  13. Numbers don’t lie, I was expecting some good debate on this factual graph. I am not going to improve myself by id!ot!c comments like “ifintu ni Lungu”

    • Unfortunately that the best you’re ever going to get from these PF cadres. That and the road infrastructure song. smh.

    • It’s a lazy person’s slogan. They should have known when the ‘donchi kubeba’ was used. What the heck is that and what does it have to do with good governance?
Remember the old saying on the Copperbelt of ” fileisolver or fyalaisolver” How can issues solve themselves without your involvement and your working out a solution to the said issues? “Ati infintu ni Lungu” What a non-thoughtful campaign motto. fileisover or fyalaisolver died a long time ago because it was lazy and criminal for people to think that issues can just disappear without your input! “Infintu in Lungu” should not be allowed to see another day light from today. Quash it and bin it! We are living in the 21st century and eduction is the great leveller. Do not follow the likes of Yamba Yamba on this blog. edu edu…

  14. Hehehehehe @ we are everywhere even in your “BEDROOM” only SATANIST can manage to do that……..UPND so scary haa………E. Lungu chabe calm and collected 2015 plot 1 new occupant

    • @Habanyama

Its Sata who threatened a chief from Eastern province that he knows what goes on in people’s bedrooms.

So who was the real SATANISTS?

PF has lied and destroyed farmers, nurses, students and many innocent peoples ‘s lifes.

So who is the true SATANIST?

Only PF ticks all the boxes to be called a SATANIST party.

    • @Zambian watchdog.

The chart and graph are the simplest way to depict a situation and it saves time.

Only people without the proper skills to interpret charts and graphs can not see that this chart and graph shows how PF has destroyed Zambia’s economy in 3 years.

  15. Katondo boys

Comment number 7, a response to your irritating comments i suppose, is not good for you. Hiding your true identity is not a passport to passing absurd, senseless, foolish, irritating comments to the extent that other bloggers begin to reply to you as in comment number 7. How do you feel after you read a response to your comments like this one. It is funny who you fear by hiding your true identity when you are a PF supporter. It seems you hide your true identity because you want to be free to pass bad comments that have no substance at all. It is us supporting the UPND in opposition who should be hiding our true identities not you PF. Are you faint hearted? You like calling others faint hearted! Are you made of wax or steel?

    • @T Hatembo
But most people are allowed pseudonyms by LT. You are one of the few with real names here. I wonder why in free speech who would compel people not to have pen names.

It allows you to speak your mind and to express yourself without thinking of who is against your free speech. This is just debate and the reality must be accepted as it dawns.

  16. To be fair, PF spent more money in development programmes. Whereas previous gov’ts just helped to put the economy back to a level after the dark 70’s -early 00’s.

We paid for all infrastructure devs. and are actually better off in that we now have TANGIBLE wealth.

We have a healthier investor economy, with targets to rack in more taxes from Mines.

Borrowing has been the unpleasant side of the last three years, and I agree we need to be concentrating in getting income rather than a quick fix through meaningless foreign investing where they get more than Zambians. We desperately need to stop the borrowing and start generating our income. We may as well start shopping for a new exchequer.

But this problem other parties would have to fix too!

    • There is a story in the post today were the world bank is urging the government to come up with a strategy on how the $1.7 Billion eurobond will be repaid. The World Bank has observed that these bonds were acquired without guidance from published debt management strategy nor informed by explicit analysis of tradeoffs between risks and rewards. In short, this means your PF borrowed blindly and did things without planning. This means all these gains you are talking about, the roads that are already developing potholes, have put this country in a worse economic position than it was at before. Did you know that the average cost for developing a kilometre stretch of road is $350,000? Did you know that in Zambia we pay an average of &1.2 million for the same stretch?

  17. I was geting k3000 m now geting over k7000 is this not more money in my pocket? minimum wage raised to k500 is this not more money?

    • What is the purchasing power of your “raise” and “more money” in the pocket?

To really appreciate your wealth, compare what you can buy now with what you could have bought one, two or even three years ago.

Very simply put–do you buy more kachasu with this raise or could you have bought more kachasu a few years ago with the same money?

  18. Now you can see how Illiterate Pro- Lairs Party PF bloggers will fail to translate & assimilate these statistical graphs into simple terms let alone contribute constructively. This is what PF has done to the economy of this rich country.Surely it will be a very difficult for HH to stabilise the economy of this country though its never too late to change this backward PF leadership which can not even comes to terms to the pervasive hardships & free falling of our economy before its too late! Really the PF has terribly failed & we have been attesting to this fact sometime back. Its only that the PF technocrats are stone aged & therefore absolute! This time its Zwaa-Zwaa PF.The majority voters are so despondent & definitely will change this PF regime -henceforth more BP for…

  20. Moreover if the PF government has reckless borrowed some money-The Incoming government can disown them & PF can have them as their Odious Debts.

  21. Emmanuel Mwamba aka Katondo Boys doesn’t deserve the pay he is getting from his employers. It explains why pf has messed up our country!

  22. PF please lets learn a lesson, some of us we have not forgotten how we lost our president, the trouble of choosing candidate for our party and bringing in people our late president fired and called you useless Ministers. All these is playing to our court yard. Mr. SATA fired Mr.E. Mwamba who is cheating Lungu very much.At the moment, Lungu is very far to catch HH not even magic will help us..!! How on earth a presidential candidate, competing a very tight race going to parties instead of going to Chawama and just promise people to improve water sanitation and grainage system if you vote for me, intead of sitting at home if really you are fit. Zambians are feed up of all these lies, this times the opinion polls Mr. E. Mwamba is disputing might turn up to be correct, what next to our party.

  23. Really? Does it?

LT should tell authors to speak to their charts, diagrams and photos if they wish to be published.

Has the chart been credited or is it original to author?

    • @Gundixy Read the writing under the chart. The first graph is from the IMF. The second from the Wall Street Journal.

This graph was published in the ECONOMIST magazine, who verify every single bit of data they publish!

Google it if you doubt what I am saying.

Unfortunately your PF there in Zambia have maybe never heard of any of these, even though they are the most knowledgeable and respected organisations IN THE WORLD!

  24. @1.15 Yambayamba, “…Whoever this “GENIUS” is expects….‘banakulu Mposamabwe’ in Kaputa to understand a chart with a “Scale inverted to show the weak Kwacha”?……”

Mr Yambayamba, those graphs are not meant for banakulu Mposamabwe. They are meant for enlightened people like you, me and Haleisa Halelanda. It is our duty to interpret them in simple terms to those old ladies. Now if the likes of Haleisa went to school and choose to ignore statistics, what tools or concepts can they use to analyse a modern economy? These graphs clearly show that under Sata the economy did not give Zambians more money in their pockets as promised to them. The time frame is long enough to analyse and trend, after all that is why we elect these dudes every five years and not ten years.

  25. Katondo thinks he can multiply 1×1=2!!The answer is just one (1)!! he uses different names to Increase numbers rigging formula, it can’t!! You will remain Katondo or whoever!! But stop using my name Ku watchdog because I have never commented at watchdog!! Why do you always like lying?? .It seems you inhereted your fore father’ lies!! why not
being honesty to have a clear clean conscience??

  26. This Katondo boys is so nauseating with what he thinks are intelligent commentaries. I wonder whether he realises that he is simply offending voters and de-campaigning his candidate with his senseless running commentaries. Political pundits estimate that for every commentary by Katondo boys, Edgar loses 50 votes. Does Edgar read this and approve? Very much doubt it!

    • 90 days you are probably right about this Katondo boys. Actually he is probably employed by the opposition to cause maximum damage to Edgar’s campaign. If so, boy is doing a damn good job of it!

  27. I don’t see the use of all this mud throwing at each other by bloggers on these online media. Why cant people just shut up and wait for the results on 21st January? After all, 99% of you bloggers will not even cast a vote on 20th January.

  28. I have been reading commentaries of you bloggers for some time now. I enjoy reading all the blogs as they really give me information as to where this country is and where it is going.

These blogs fall into the categories of; funny, informative, analytical and sheer uncouthness. Some are disappointing as they border on insults which in this age and era is unacceptable.

All I can say is, we have a long way to go in this country. The literacy levels have really gown down and you can see this through the construction of sentences and the English itself is pathetic in most cases.

I encourage each and everyone of us to contribute positively as our individual contributions have a singular and contagion effect.

Lets celebrate the coming of 2015 positively.

  29. Breaking News, a prophet has just prophesied that FlightHH will go missing on 20th Jan, please don’t waste your vote. Vote#cruiseEL

  30. This graph was published in the ECONOMIST magazine, who verify every single bit of data they publish!

Google it if you doubt what I am saying. Then go and ask our USELESS Minister of Finance 9if it is true or not! But maybe he does not understand its implications, otherwise he would not publish his “financial statement”!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Unfortunately your PF there in Zambia have maybe never heard of any of these, even though they are the most knowledgeable and respected organisations IN THE WORLD!
