Patriotic Front President Edgar Lungu has disclosed that former Republican President Rupiah Banda has endorsed him ahead of the forthcoming presidential by-election.
Addressing a mammoth rally in Mungwi District this afternoon, Mr. Lungu says even the mobile campaign sound system vehicle he is currently using was donated to him by Mr.Banda.
Mr. Lungu told the rally that of the eleven candidates contesting for the top job, Mr. Banda identified him as the only candidate with a vision capable of taking the country forward.
He says he is humbled that the former Head of State has decided to give him the support he needs during the campaigns.
Speaking at the same rally, Malole Member of Parliament Christopher Yaluma refuted claims that he insulted Acting President Guy Scott and the UPND Leader Hakainde Hichilema.
Mr. Yaluma says Mr. Lungu will get a huge chunk of votes from Mungwi district just like late President Michael Sata got in 2011.
Earlier,at Nondo area, Mr.Lungu promised to honor the promise late Republican President Michael Sata made to declare Senga Hill as a district if voted into office.
Addressing residents of Nondo area at Nondo Primary School in Mbala District, Mr. Lungu says he will try by all means to ensure that the people in the area have a District of their own instead of going to places like Mpulungu and Mbala to seek services.
